Hour fifteen on the bike this morning before the rain came.  Fine by me.  I'll trade training time for rain at this point.  Hit the pool afterwards for some more balance work.  Did an easy 500 at the end and it was very different from swimming just last week.  Pretty excited.

Ran an hour this morning, in this horrible humidity.  Outdoor bike and t-run after work.  It's supposed to be in the mid 90's today though, so the t-run might not happen.

Tried something different last night on my run. I just had a short run (2.35 miles) and for the first mile, I ran as fast as I could without falling over, then walked a tenth and ran the rest of the way home.

The first mile I ALMOST hit 8min/mile (8.08).

No reason, just felt like it. I can't recall the last time I ran a mile as fast as I could. Probably over 20 yrs ago in high school.

23 mile ride this morning followed by a 3.1 brick run.  Legs felt totally fine coming off the bike, other than being a little tired.  Some long climbs this morning.

Wife is a teacher, and she is done for the summer and home with the boys.  Which means I no longer have to rush my morning workouts to get back to have them ready for school.  Yipeeeeee

I hope to get another swim lesson tomorrow in Cromwell.  We'll see if I can st some appointments out that way to make the trip worthwhile.  It's just over an hour drive.

So I start with my Galloway training group this Saturday. They tell me I have a 16 miler . . . that just seems sooooooo long.  I feel like I need to start psyching myself up now.  Does anyone else need to do that when they have huge training days coming up?

Good thing I only have the swim portion of the relay for the Bigfoot race on Sunday . . .   Hopefully a quick 30 minutes or under and I am done!!!  Good think I am comforable breathing to my left too. Seems that alot of races have buoys on the left . . . but most of use are probably stronger breathers on our right . . . hhhhmmmm

ran a little yesterday to get some blood through the legs.  Need to set up a 12 week plan for my show down with Rudy in MArthas Vineyard.  Lots of biking... (and work on my sabotage techniques)

I also have to decide if i want to do a fall marathon... i wouldnt mind doing the race, but the training can be tedious.

No need to wear a wetsuit for a 1/4 mile swim leg....right?

if the time you would save swimming in the wetsuit is greater than the time lost getting out, yes, if the reverse, no.

I pretty much spend the week psyching myself up for the weekend.

If it make you feel better, I'll be running about 16 on Sunday as well.

I've got 13 Friday.  Oh and having this treadmill here when working from home is a dangerous temptation.  Those who knew me a year ago wouldn't believe I just said that.

Unfortunately, I have grown a very strong aversion to the treadmill.  I think I have associated with my hip hurting cuz it keeps you in the same position vs. outside constantly challenging you and changing your position . . . hence no runs yet cuz weather.com keeps saying its gonna rain all the time!!!

Was gonna ask you if you had any good tri clubs by your house that could help with swimming.  All our clubs here are always offering swim workouts/lessons (very cheap) track workouts, bricks, etc.  Maybe look into that as an option to improve your swimming.  Just a thought.

I hate the treadmill too.  I'm pretty much willing to run outside in any weather to avoid it.  The trainer doesn't bother me, but the treadmill, yuck.

Actually already looking into that.  I was looking at teams already to join just for comraderie (sp?), but now I'm looking at their swim coaches as well.

I think I'm one of the few human beings who loves the treadmill.  Haha!  I think it's because I'm a newbie runner, and I don't have an internal pace clock yet, so it's helpful to have the control on the treadmill (even though paces can be off a bit because it's a machine).  It's also helpful because of the kids.  I'm able to get the run in before they get up.  I'm sure once I have a couple years of running under my belt, I'll be over it.

The trainer though....HATE IT!  I get so bored and distracted.

It's 100+ here for the rest of the summer.  Treadmill is going to have to do for short runs (5 miles and under).  Have lots of things on the DVR I need to catch up on anyway.

I haven't gotten there yet . . . when I wake up at 4:30am in a cozy warm bed, it is really hard to get psyched up to go run in the rain, which I have never done yet (except when it rained or drizzle during a run I was already on).

I had a friend of mine had to do 18 on the treadmill a few weeks ago (just got a new one) . . . I have never done more than 9 . . . now I know why you all call it the dreadmill or drainer . . .

And for the record the outdoor pool I used (kiddy aquatic park) was totally awesome and way more motivating than indoor laps.  Took about 5 minutes to keep the kids out, but it was wonderful.  The sunshine must just get the endorphins going while a health club must sap them in the summer . . . totally recommend if you are getting bored swimming.

I hated running outside til a few months ago, now I love it and don't generally even wear music anymore.  I love the smells and sites and the dog keeps me distracted too . . . find a really awesome neighborhood or park or trail to run though.  Just amazing.

So Cindy, my wife, started C25K yesterday.  She has a goal of one of those all female 1/2 marys in December.  I think I'm as excited as she is.  Probably more.

got a run in today-felt like a turtle for most of it, but back, neck and knees no longer hurting after the fall.

I have been fighting with our internet provider for over a week about our sporatic internet service and it has been hard to log on to anything. Of course I can pay more to be a business internet customer so I can get priority service-not.

we went back to early spring weather this weekend and I had to run my gas fireplace to warm up the house. SNow in our mountains again-it was a powder day up at the resorts on Father's day for anyone still skiing-geez I want to get hot and sweat.

Couch to 5k is a wonderful place for her to start.  I did that program 4 months after I had Frederick.  Can't say enough great things about it

That's great that you'll have the sport in common, too.
