27 1/2 mph for that last section...either he hit a nice downhill section or all that EPO has been paying off! Keep it up, Jason, you're killing it so far!

I'm going to take a guess at this and assume that IMLT is a 2 loop bike course and that the 2.2 mile section that shows 5 and 6 mph averages respectively must be one hell of a climb!!

GO JASON...14 more miles and you're off the bike!

Go Jason!! He has been steadily moving up in the ranks throughout the race, and I can't wait to see how many people he will pass on the run!

Yeah, time for him to crush some people on that run. Keep it up, Jason!

One hell of a climb might be an understatement on that climb. I've ridden once in all the years I've lived here, and making them do it twice in one race is pure torture.

Live results seem to be messed up. No finishing time yet on the bike but some run splits are starting to show up. Has Jason at 9:15 total race time through 9.4 miles of the run. Don't know if its right or not.

Looking at the pro times this is not a fast course by any means. Bike course must be a real !@#$

Hi. I just talked to Jason's wife.  Jason was off the bike at 2:42 Pacific time. There seems to be a problem with his timing chip.  He's out on the run so watch out! Smile

Thanks for the update! This gives me a chance to gripe about Ironman's technology. Why does it seem like they're stuck in 1998? Their Athlete Tracker is really hard to use, or even find for that matter. And it seems like times frequently get messed up during the race. I can't believe that they haven't ever developed an iPhone/Android tracker app. They could charge $5 for it and make a fortune, like they do off of shirts and Christmas ornaments. Ok, rant over...Go, Jason! I'm visualizing him just blowing past people on that run.

I think there is an Apple app called IronTracker. I'm a droid girl, so I don't know anything about it...have just heard about it in passing.

That's got to feel so close...and so far away, at the same time! If his run splits are accurate now, he just crushed his last run segment at a 7:30 pace. That's insane! Go Jason!

Jason just crossed the finish line. Clock showed 11:52 when he crossed. But it was a rolling swim start so the time is probably off. Congrats Jason! Smile

A lot of pro DNF's at this one, it's a tough course and the weather didn't help. Of course if I ever find the time to train for a full this will be it, kind of tough to say no to a race in your backyard. That being said for those of you that have done full's what was your average training volume per week. I know I can't do one until my son is old enough to understand what is going on. He's 2 now so I figure at least 3 or 4 years.

That hurt. Really.

I'll give more details later. The bike is a monster no matter how conservative you try to ride it.

I did not have my usual run legs but I was very happy with how I rode the bike.

Today is our last day before we head home. The people and wildlife have surpassed my expectations. Each of the the four countries we've visited has provided unique insights into Africa. Too many highlight to mention while on an IPad, but a male lion some 25ft in the air in a tree was certainly one of them!
