That was hilarious.Don't get snarky because your team got beat. It's unbecoming. Although I tend to agree -- it was hilarious. |

Well that sucks. It's awesome that you ran 8 miles on saturday, though. What triggers the attacks? i have no idea. Crud in the air sometimes does it. Cold weather sometimes does it. The allergies i don't have sometimes do it. grr. |

It does to me. I was fine yesterday until I was peppering OUTSIDE. I could NOT breathe. Eventually I had to use my freakin inhaler. Duh. And I can do the elliptical or spin class just fine...just that outside there are evil things that make me not able to breathe...especially this time of year. It's frustrating. Yes. i went for a run last week in the morning and was fine, and then after work, walking the 2.5 blocks to the bus stop, i had to dig out my inhaler because i couldn't breathe at all. And then my doctor sits there saying "Aerobic exercise helps asthma." i KNOW that, but if i can't breathe, it's hardly aerobic exercise, hmmm? GRRR. |

And I can do the elliptical or spin class just fine...just that outside there are evil things that make me not able to breathe...especially this time of year. It's frustrating. Yah, it's frustrating. I was trying to explain it to someone the other day and I told them to imagine they'd just run X miles and then before you get to catch your breath/cool down you lay down and someone sits on your chest. Now...just relax and breathe! =) Haha. All you can think is "GET OFF ME!" =) And when it comes out of seemingly nowhere it's really maddening. Yup. For me it's more like... suddenly my lungs are smaller. When i was first diagnosed with eia, i'd get chest pains while running. A kid i know explains it as trying to breathe through a straw. It's funny how we all have different views of it. |

May need to put you on a running program to your bus stop I read an article once about an ultra marathon runner lady who basically did that. Psycho. Ryan - usually the "emergency inhaler" will stop it/slow it down but not always. Just depends on the situation. I'm really allergic to dogs and this weekend went to a house of someone who has a lab who stays inside a lot. And carpet in the house. I knew that would be trouble but I forgot to use my inhaler first. Duh. So after about an hour or so I had to use it and then it slowed down the symptoms but I was okay leaving after the movie. It doesn't totally fix it until you get away from whatever is causing the irritation to the lungs. Blah, that def. sucks. The funny/dumb thing is I feel like a nerd when I have to use my inhaler. Haha. And lots of my friends don't even know I have asthma so it's not a huge problem anymore (b/c I use a daily preventative inhaler)...but if I have to use the "emergency" one I feel like I'm pushing glasses up on my nose and snorting and have my pants hiked up to my chest...etc. =) Which maybe I DO but...not b/c I can't breathe. =) i always feel so... weak. Like... who the hell can't just breathe? You know? |

Somehow it seems that the only time my boss ever comes to talk to me is when i'm either eating lunch (inevitably it's right after i've taken a bite out of something like a carrot) or when i'm using my inhaler. And then he freaks out because i'm obviously dying. And i have to hold my breath, so i can't talk right away, and... It's awesome. |
