evondo - 2009-05-26 9:11 AM Not quite back to work yet for me, got one more day off

Weekend was great, got a lot done and a lot of relaxing in. Sounds like you had quite a productive weekend as well. Updated your race calendar but forgot to mention to everyone that you signed up for a HIM!WOHO!

Nicole83 - 2009-05-26 8:03 AM

YAY!  Is everyone back at work today?

How was the long weekend?

I'm already ready for another one.

Buuuutttt I did sign up for a bunch of races, and updated my race calendar this weekend.  We also have an appointment with the mortgage lady this week to get that process finalized!  I feel so grown up.  It's terrifying.

I missed my run yeserday because being drained from garden work for 3 hours and then the pool for 2 hours.

First OWS was a success. I really liked it and the water was nice. I will be back out there on Sunday for another round.

What up gang?  Happy Tuesday!  Yes, I enjoyed the long weekend as well.  I too got many things accomplished... (not tri related unfortunately).

I wish all of the evond mentor group members could have joined Betsy, Eric and myself at the ol' OWS lake Sunday.  It was a beautiful day, several swimmers, and would have made for even a better experience than we had!

I know, I know... he has been swimming since Christ was a Corporal in my beloved Marine Corps, and colligiate swimmer and all that...but!
I am gonna brag on Eric for just a moment here... he passed me twice on our laps in the lake... no big deal right?  he was in board shorts, I was in a super hi-speed, low-drag, "evinrude outboard strapped to my butt" wetsuit... and he passed me as if I had dropped anchor.  SO, I took the few seconds I had as he glided by at warp factor eight - to examine his stroke and try to mimic it.   He made it look way too easy... like he wasn't even trying!  Let me just say... ol' Eric the Swimmer, is way faster in person than his TL times indicate.  He did offer me some great pointers/coaching/advice, which I really tried to apply this morning... and really do appreciate that.  I really look forward to catching another swim with ol' Aquaman and see if I can somehow gain some more speed through osmosis as he zooms past me.

Betsy!  You did great Sunday too... way to "not have to like, you just have to do it"... Kudos to you for coming out and swimming open water when you really hadn't planned on it again so soon.  It was fun hanging with you guys.

LOL, Justin is exaggerating a little bit It was a fun swim though, great day and got to meet some other BTers. The venue was MUCH nicer than the other place I normally went for OWS. The water was very clear and could see ~15-20ft deep.

And Kelli - I "heart" long weekends too.  Do I have to go back to work tomorrow???  You can't make me!

Thanks for the kind words Justin.  Maybe one day I'll be able to swim like you.  (Cause we all know Eric's skills have yet to rub off on me!)  haha

Coming back to work today was HARD!!!  I'm still trying to find motivation to get work done....and look at that, it's almost time to go home

We had such fantastic warm, sunny weather here all weekend....and now it's gone to $hit.  Looks like the trainer will be coming out of hiding for the rest of the week.  BUT, the weather for race day this coming weekend looks awesome and with the recent streak of warm days the water temp should be creeping into the high 60's by now.

Yes, unfortunately I've been replying to a bunch of emails from being out yesterday.  I decided I needed a break though.

Seems like the theme of the morning was suckie runs.  As Justin said...we were swimming out there this morning!

Yeah for Hump Day!

Ugh, 3 p.m. and I JUST ate my first meal of the day and finished with my back to back meetings.

Murder.

I want to go home and drink heavily.

Good news though, we made a big step today in the home loan approval process and are well on our way to buying a home!

That causes me an enormous amount of panic and anxiety... but I'm a little excited as well.

Absolutely!

At this point, we're still looking at homes.  We've got it narrowed down to neighborhood, but in Florida there are SO MANY short sale options that we can't decide!

Once the financing gets nailed down that will be a huge weight off my shoulders though.  Then I can start deciding whether the color scheme of the tile will fit in with my furniture.

WOHO congrats!

I have some good news as well... I finally got on a tri team and will be sporting a new polka dots uniform! I tried to get on last year and apparently they have more than 5 requests/day and was out of room last year. Thanks to our OWS last weekend I met up with a member of the 'Dots' and he put in a good word for me and apparently it worked Now I just have to find a couple more races to sign up for since I have to do 4 in the Houston area and only have two right now...

Nope just good ole black/white... I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the dots <grips onto man card tightly>

Right now I get entry fees into some races and shop discounts. I need to drop my Olympic (2:10) to 2:08 or 70.3 (4:59) to 4:50 and they'll throw in a larger discount and running shoes.

I'm mostly excited to meet/train with some more people! I know some of the team members from the shop and racing so it'll be fun!
