Subject: RE: Nibbs XXXVIHere are my answers to the athlete profile. What do you guys think? Name: Jen Drake Age: 27 Hometown: Milwaukee, WI Occupation: Graduate Student
Member of RTC since: 2006 Competed in triathlon races since: 2005 Current or upcoming races in 2008: Monument Ave 10k, National Duathlon Festival, Pink Power Tri, Giant Acorn Tri, Richmond Sprint Tri
Favorite race(s): Shamrock Half-Marathon, New York City Tri, Marine Corps Marathon
Worst race(s): Naylor’s Beach in 2006. The swim was rougher than expected and I was tempted to stop after that. A friend came out of the water at the same time and we both agreed to keep going. It was tough, but I made it through.
Favorite part of a triathlon race: I love the excitement and nervous energy that comes right before the race and the adrenaline rush when I cross the finish line.
Best workout: Bike rides through Goochland County followed by lunch
Best way to relax after a hard workout/race: a bacon cheeseburger and a nap
Favorite activities outside of triathlons: knitting, reading, hanging out with my husband and friends
Favorite motto: “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right” – Henry Ford
Favorite idol (any): My dad. I’d love to be able to bike anywhere near as fast as him!
Top reason for becoming a triathlete: I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. Now I do it to prove that I can still do it. |
