I wonder if Stacie got stuck in her spare room/closet with all the junk and her family is looking for her?

i'm here.  i'm here.  i'm here!

the beast of a room wasnt as beastly as i thought.

a bag for garbage.

a bag for Goodwill.

a bag for my friend whose son is a few years younger than my youngest.

and (ashamed to admit it) Christmas decorations that my dh STILL needs to put up in the attic.

i suppose he's figuring that in 2 1/2 months he'll have to take them down from the attic, so why bother.  LOL.

once i get all the bags outta there and get on my dhs case for procrastinating, it will be an empty room.

why we even bothered buying a 4 bedroom house, when we had a perfectly fine 3 bedroom.

we thought it would be nice for the boys to all have their own rooms (and im sure at some point they will)

but my middle and my youngest have been sharing a room since my youngest was born.

sometimes now they even end up in the same bed together even though theres bunkbeds.

ahhhh.  brotherhood.

stacieb

And the problem with that is?  Ahh - let him leave them there until this year and make sure they get put up in the attic after this holiday season - but then again I am a male and I believe in procrastination (except for training purposes )

ah male reasoning.  gotta love it.

i half thought i should just store the decorations in the double doored closet that is in the room since its empty.  save us both the trouble of getting them in and out of the attic.

hee!
stacieb

Sounds perfectly logical to me

aspeelma - 2009-10-06 3:17 AM GOOD MORNING GHOULIES!!!!

I hope everyone got a good nights sleep! AND has great runs today!

I have 3 miles planned for later today and the weather should be perfect here for it.

LET'S GO GHOULIES!!!

spooktacular! way to get that run in! and I want to know what is perfect weather to you??? me its mid to upper 70's...with sunny skies!

It is supposed to be low 70's and sunny today. For me that is not too hot, and not too cold, it's juuuuuuusst right!

No bragging.  I won't see 70's again until next May or when I travel for work to my warm locals during the winter months.  It was 45 this morning for my ride to work.  Pretty bad when I was excited because that is going to be warm in 3 months!

Yeah...  Buh-bye 70s here too   May won't come soon enough.

skrtrnr - 2009-10-06 11:10 AM which bring up another question in mind.

is there a distance that we are 'naturally' drawn to or better at?

i have friend right now (a few friends actually) who is training for a full IM.  and she talks about how hard short distance races are ie Sprints...that she feels better suited to long distances, like 1/2 and full IMs.  thats when she really 'shines' as it 'plays' to her natural strengths/abilities.

i dunno.  another facet of the conversation...

but, i love this journey were on, dont you?

stacieb

Very interesting question.  I am much better at sprints due to the relatively short swim in comparison to the other sports.  However, I really like the HIM distance even though I haven't been as competitive with those.

Great report! Keep it up with your training, and next time make sure you get pics of the pace booty! You know, to help inspire you for the next race and stuff...

sure Tom...thats why you want that pace booty picture!!! haha

I am of pure heart, and I'm only trying to make sure Neal has ample training motivation. I swear!

kromanowski - 2009-10-06 9:34 AM Question of the Day: Does anyone else have a mental block when it comes to going beyond a certain distance?  And if you did and have pushed past it how did you do it?

Mine is the 6 mile mark...I am fine running 5 miles, 6 miles I have done once or twice and am reasonably ok but I (mentally) freak out when I think about doing anything more...I have never gone further than six.

GREAT question KATIE.

mine is 26.2.  ive been able to bring myself to contemplate running a full marathon.

last year i ran a half.  and finished w a smile on my face.

and considered what it would be like to 'have to' go another 13.1 miles.

i thought, naw, i dont think i would ever want to do that.

i will do a 1/2 IM before i do a full marathon.  theres just something not 'appealing' about that distance...for me.  (same with a full IM)

and ive decided that im not gonna 'push past it'.

if somewhere internally (for whatever the reason) ive decided a full marathon is not for me, then i figure why 'fight it'.

perhaps there will come a time when that'll change, and im completely open to that.

but for now...im content w trng for halfsies and contemplating a 1/2 IM.

stacieb

Sounds like my sentiments exactly! my brother is an IM...my daughter and niece will be racing in an IM in November...and I have no inkling to do one! very motivational for me to go bike and run...but not those absurdly long distances! not even in perfect conditions and flat course! hey, I too am considering a HIM! is there one half way in between us! what a hoot it would be to race with you! the mileage would zoom by! haha

Could you imagine the chatter from that 2-some on the HIM course?  Might get in trouble for drafting or using radios for communication on the ride

Kansas would work for you guys!

kansas? sounds doable....this is one state I have never visited. and I have lived in 40 of the 52 states! and no, Im not an army brat.

do we follow a yellow brick road??? and should I dress in red sparkly running shoes???

Did somebody say Kansas?  I may be doing that one next summer.  I am waiting to hear back on a possibly scheduling conflict.

on a really TRULY sad note...the girl I saw who was being given CPR at the half marathon on Sunday...died! as did another fellow that made it to just 50 yards from the finishing shoot and he also collapsed and died.

was on the news this morning...and in the paper yesterday...

cant believe some of the stupid comments being made by some non runners....please keep the families in your prayers and thoughts. Rumor has it that the guys family saw the entire collapse and death! She was 34 and he was 35!?!? WTF???

Wow.  That is truly sad.  Thoughts and prayers are with their families.

Good job. Don't worry, Neal can't catch you (yet).
even on a bad day...he will run circles around me! but thanks! I am crafty and was very good at dodge ball! so maybe I can out craft him by cutting here and there like I used to have to do in ultimate frisbee! "MAYBE" is the key word here!

No craft necessary today.  You could probably do a backwards crab walk and get away from me today   Come to think of it, maybe I should be doing a backwards crab walk.  It might feel better

Hi gouhlies! Just thought it was high time I pop in and say hi to my teammates. I did pop in last night, but didn't have time to catch up, and well, I thought I'd post today... um, 20 pages later. What a talkative group! My goal for this month will be tiny--focusing on consistency more than mileage, so just a mere 20 miles for the month. Should be a little hard to reach since I have done NOTHING for a few weeks while my son was out of school and sick, but should be totally reachable, too.

So, hi!

Welcome!  And good luck getting back into the workout routine!
