I did sleep in this morning. I woke up around 6:30 on my own, no alarm.

I got out of the house for a run around 7:00. I had planned on doing 5-6, depending on how I was feeling. I wasn't feel great though, I only got 2 in. I was just shy of a mile and my right leg started cramping something awful. I made it to the mile mark but then turned around. Cramps in calf and hamstring. I sort of hobbled most of the way home.

I'm going to wait a bit to see how my leg feels before heading out for a bike ride.

mndymond - 2010-06-24 10:29 AM So...I don't know if I have much energy to spread around. Haha...Maybe you could take half from me and I'll convince old man Neal to give you the other half? Tongue out (He's only 6 yrs older and I have iron deficiency anemia...that at least puts us on the same energy scale )

Also...I have a question: The Aussies are hear for a few more days--prob early next week or so. And well I kinda like hanging out with them and nottrainingquitesomuch....so can I get away with maybe not swimming and cut back the training hours there? (I figure I can get away with that one??? hmmm)

WE DO NEED TO DO THE TRANSFUSION!!! I have TOO much iron in my blood!

I wouldn't mind some of Neal's energy and speedo if that's up for grabs.

For my ghoulies gals, I can share

Ann, Fixed that for 'ya!

Neal, thank-you.  That is all.

Fixed again.  I'm pretty sure Tom and Bill would want nothing to do with my speedo, but I better not take any chances....

Haha. Oh Neal. You sure end up with the short end of the stick sometimes...being forced into dirty dancing...Mind you, If you had a mojito in a glass that size you prob wouldn't care!

How do you know *it's* short????

Sheesh. First she calls me old, now this.  Melindy's not making any friends today.

She did say the other day the she can be cynical.

You should show her that you are neither OLD nor SHORT!

Actually just post pics so we all can verify.

I also called bashful Neal beautiful the other day...does anyone remember that? Nooooooooo Tongue out

When was this?  I'm old and my memory is going downhill

Oh, you're asking for it! You wanna go Neal? Do ya? WinkYellCoolKiss (There is no happy face which adequately describes the gesture I am giving you right now...)

?Haha.

Foot in mouth <--- You could pretend this guy is giving me the finger

Haha...Well its more if this then Foot in mouthTongue outUndecided...

So then...."Oh, you're asking for it! You wanna go Neal? Do ya? Foot in mouthTongue outUndecided"

I'm going to call this "snarky finger...with a nose scrunch at the same time"

Where are we going? Should I gas up the car? Pack a bag?

*ducking*

Ducking won't do you an good. I don't normally go for the head! Haha. My hits are more of a swift backhand to the chest for some reason...or maybe an elbow...or maybe I could utilize some of my kickboxing training...hmmm...lol...

Ya you should gas up your car and meet me have way between BC and Iowa...hmmm...where would that be? Yellowstone??? (You are NOT allowed to make fun of my American geography knowledge if this is totally wack...haha) I know Yellowstone is at the corner of Montana, South Dakota, Iowa? and somewhere else....Wyoming?

Anyways...we should meet half way and duke it out! Pack your bag full of medical supplies, cause you're gonna need it! Tongue outFoot in mouth

Hahaha

Yellowstone would work.  Seems like a good place for a throwdown.  Or I could head a little more north and we could meet in Butte, Montana just because it's a sweet name.  Although, come to think of it, a throwdown in Butte just doesn't sound right.

And, umm, you bring the medical supplies DOCTOR Melindy!  Feel confident enough to perform surgery on yourself?

For the record I do realize how Butte is really pronounced

Bring it Neal! (Chest hit + hands raised in "bring it on/ gangsta" action)

Never been to Butte, I've been to Bozeman though (I wrote the MCAT there ). You are right...Yellowstone does sound like a better place for a throwdown. More bad a$$...

But, I am happy to hear you are being generous and willing to drive a little bit extra--but don't think this will make me soft. I'll bring the medical supplies and my handy dandy suturing skills...you know, so that I can give it to you good...and then fix you up while your out and then make up some story about how I'm the good guy and I came to your aide. Everyone will believe Dr. Melindy's story Because I'm so innocent, muhahahaha Innocent And you're so, bad boy...

For the record I do realize how some of those statements sound...just to beat you to the punch...which I will...at Yellowstone...Bring it.

I have a busy weekend coming up, so I am not sure about workouts.  But if all goes as planned, I should get in a run this morning and perhaps a bike ride Sunday evening.

So I did some laundry last night and threw in a giant blue beach towel.  When I opened the washer it looked like a smurf had gone through the spin cycle.  Blue crap shed everywhere!  Luckily the lint trap in the dryer picked up most of it, but I'm still finding little blue furballs off my shirt today.  Annoying!

I don't know why, but this made me laugh.  I'm not really mean spirited but visualizing smurf in the spin cycle was kind of funny.  Sorry about your fur balls though.  I have 2 long haired cats. I am used to it. Lint rollers are available in my house, car and office.

Had my coffee...feeling slightly less groggy even with my run earlier...haven't been sleeping well for the past few days, waking up every few hrs. Probably just because it is quite a bit warmer right now than it has been in the past few weeks and I wake up needing to throw blankets off and then I wake up cause I'm hot...then cold...then hot..and so on. Need time to adjust--which is just sad because its only about 23C...I'm in trouble for my 70.3 if Calgary gets hot like it normally does in August.

I need him to confirm a drug dose anyways...fail...

So story time...

Its about my bro. He's 19 and he's one of those genetically predisposed "athlete" guys. He's about 6'3" and prob right now about 165-170lbs (athlough he will tell you he weighs 190+...lies). So anyways, he played hockey for years and when he was in grade 12 he suffered 2 concussions within about 4 months and was having trouble...so when hockey ended, he said he didn't know if he was going to go back at all the upcoming year. I guess he just didn't like/want to play anymore. So my Dad convinced him to try out track as he's always been able to run even though he has never run before. After his first city track meet he came home and said that the UofA had scouted him (the school i go to). He was always one of the "just make it through high school and graduate types", so suffice it to say he couldn't go an do track for the university yet. So he joined the Edmonton Sprint Academy and was working on upgrading his high school (which surprised me as he never had any ambition before to do it, but he's doing it, which is great). They originally started him in the 400m. He's not really a pure sprinter though so it would take him till the 3rd turn to gain speed, and then he would crush the field. I've been around alot of talented athletes in different sports and I've never seen anything like it. Its one of those, "you know, maybe he could make the olympics?"...I was never that good and I will never be that good.

Anyways, his coaches figure he's not a 400m runner, but instead a 800m/1500m...so they are switching his training and won't let him race this season. He says its so he doesn't get injured. Ok, fair enough. I get a text from him about a week ago asking how much my bike cost. I told him alot and wanted to know why. He tells me, "well, I'm going to start doing triathlon and I need to get a bike"...

Ok...wait...what? You're going to do triathlon? I've been away for 2 months and he decides he's going to do triathlon? I sent a message back to him asking him if he realized that tri=swimming...kind of as a joke...he writes back and tells me he's been swimming 4x a week and its starting to get better...I have no idea what is going on...I told him not to buy a bike right away and just use my other bike that is at home for a bit--its a men's hybrid and would work for him for the time being. He doesn't even know if he likes the sport yet...

I got an email from his yesterday...he went and bought a bike! Decent bike--Specialized Allez Triple...$850 or so (I told him to not spend over $1000 for his first bike!). He was telling me all the specs...(I didn't even know he knew anything about bikes)...

Just don't know what is going through his head. I mean I'm not complaining. We definately got closer when he switched sports from hockey to track. (I think maybe we finally had somethign in common because training for swimming and track are something alike and swimming and hockey are nothing alike). I just have no idea where this triathlon thing came from. I have a feeling he's not going to go back to track...which I guess is okay and its his decision to make and I should just be "good on you" about it...but I feel that he's gonna miss out big from not staying in track because thats where his strength lies...

Just confused Undecided That is all...i will wait and see how it plays out...I don't really have a point or question to go with the story...its just a story.

(Still waiting on my supervisor...haha)

Sounds like he wants to be as cool as his big sister.  That and kick your butt at a tri.

Sucks that he won't be pursuing track with that much talent, but it's his life and he should do what makes him happy.  Could be that he didn't like the structured training and coaches grooming him for certain events.

Bet he hammers out a wicked fast run split his first tri.
