Thanks for the advice in regards to pre race nutrition, I do a lot of fiber also with no processed foods and minimal sugar. I have to say though, I love my kids gorilla munch cereal!!

I have been trying a lot of different energy boost things during our long runs like gu and powergels. Everytime I use them on a run, within minutes I start cramping. I stopped using them and just use water and seem fine. Any suggestions for sugar free things that can just be put in water for electrolytes?

Gorilla munch is pretty good

NUUN is my favorite electrolyte supplement.  They just started carrying it in my grocery store too.

My daughter's mothers day out program is closed when the public schools are so this week is spring break.  I may go crazy working from home with them.

So as far as racing I'm ready to rock.  Now I just need to figure out where my funds for entry into IMTX 2012 are going to come from.  Stupid budgets.

Its sunny and in the mid-50s.  I'm really thinking about skipping out on work this afternoon and getting my ride in -- beats being on the trainer later tonight.

Nice.  Take advantage while you can.  Before you get snowed on again.  :P

I agree with uhcoog, I like oatmeal and a banana pre race.  Just seems to work for me.

I also hit a wall last week.  Between work, and just being tired, my workouts were all over the place.  Much better this week.  A few appts this morning in Hartford, then decided what Kelly was thinking about today.  Just got back from 26 miles, OUTDOORS.  It is soooooo nice out today.  And so much easier to get a ride in outdoors.  the trainer officially SUCKS!!!

I agree with Kelly's comment above.  Consistency is key.  I feel I have made some huge gains this winter going into the season, (which for me is mainly XC MTB racing).  My HR is lower, I'm faster, and I don't seem to tire as easy anymore.  I am hoping everyone else in my class was lazy all winter!!!! Tongue out

Now back to work.  I think it's going to be a late night due to me skipping out on work this afternoon.

We are cold and windy here. Knees killing me today. Not much of a workout as work related issues came up,but I did have a productive meeting up on the single track with a county commisioner as I convinced him the county needs to purchase a section of land our single track is on. I  have two of three commissioners convinced-now to find the $$$. ANyone know of any good open space grant money?

Oh people, totally exhausted today.  7:45am and ready to go home and go back to bed.  Been up since 3am, finally got up and did my 4 mile run at 4am.  Carb loading for my long run tomorrow.

Gonna try and take a half day . . . wish me luck

I just ran 4 miles while pushing 2 of my children in a jogging stroller, and it was BRUTAL.  Wow!!  That was so hard.  There are so many hills in my area.  I guess pushing around 80 extra pounds while running will definitely make me faster; right?!!

I was going to do arms later, but I think they got a decent workout already.  Sushi & movie with husband tonight.  I studied film in graduate school, so I love my weekend movie nights.  Exciting life I lead...huh?!

love the yellow kitten. When the weather takes a step backward, might as well go with the flow so I am going x-country skiing with friends tomorrow. It will be a great workout.

Seems likes its been a tough week for lots of people.  Positive thoughts -- its almost April.

I'm running 60 minutes this morning then hopping on the trainer for 4-5 hours.

This afternoon we're working at the Fast Splits booth at the New England Multisport Expo.  Should be fun to pick up free stuff.

Right there with you.  Trial prep last week, jury selection this week and finally got a judge on Friday.  Trial starts on Monday.  The trial should take less time than jury selection.  (I do plaintiff's personal injury work - its fun, I feel I'm helping people, but the cases that go to trial are never easy.)

No training this week because I slept even worse than usual worrying about everything.  In about an hour I'll head out for what is supposed to be a very tough and very hilly 15k.  Gonna take out my frustrations on the pavement.  If all goes well, I should finish in about 1:45.

good luck - bring home the bacon.  defense counsel love jury selection, they actually get to bill for a full day.  what kind of case (i used to do PI now its commerical/financial lit, havent picked a jury in years, not sure if thats good, most of trials are arbitrations or bench trials)

Off day today.  Clearing my schedule so I can do a fairly decent brick tomorrow.  Plan is 25 mi bike/ 4-6 mile run.

So the race I'm doing 4/3 is putting on a clinic next Sunday.  May go and participate.  It's on the other side of town though.  Those not familiar with the sprawling metro that is Houston it takes an hour to an hour and a half for me to get to that side of town.  We're actually renting a hotel room the night before the race and technically we're in the same city.  Not to mention its just an early race.  Transition closes extra early because the dock to the boat is a mile or so from transition.
