I have been fighting with our internet provider for over a week about our sporatic internet service and it has been hard to log on to anything. Of course I can pay more to be a business internet customer so I can get priority service-not. we went back to early spring weather this weekend and I had to run my gas fireplace to warm up the house. SNow in our mountains again-it was a powder day up at the resorts on Father's day for anyone still skiing-geez I want to get hot and sweat.
Glad to hear you got back at it, Terry |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() uhcoog - 2011-06-21 5:10 PM So Cindy, my wife, started C25K yesterday. She has a goal of one of those all female 1/2 marys in December. I think I'm as excited as she is. Probably more.
That is AWESOME!!! So happy for you and your wife!!! |

I think I have associated with my hip hurting cuz it keeps you in the same position vs. outside constantly challenging you and changing your position . . . hence no runs yet cuz weather.com keeps saying its gonna rain all the time!!!
I hate the treadmill too. I'm pretty much willing to run outside in any weather to avoid it. The trainer doesn't bother me, but the treadmill, yuck. I think I'm one of the few human beings who loves the treadmill. Haha! I think it's because I'm a newbie runner, and I don't have an internal pace clock yet, so it's helpful to have the control on the treadmill (even though paces can be off a bit because it's a machine). It's also helpful because of the kids. I'm able to get the run in before they get up. I'm sure once I have a couple years of running under my belt, I'll be over it. The trainer though....HATE IT! I get so bored and distracted. i hate the dreadmill. i hate the drainer. i hate the pool. i dont really like running or biking outside. swimming in the ocean is okay. But, i like eating (have i mentioned that before?) so all of the above are necessary evils. trainer/treadmill are necessary evils with kids. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Injuries do suck, but they make me appreciate the times when I am training and feeling like crap. At least I'm training and not on crutches or doing PT for weeks and weeks. Glad you're back at it Terry! The trainer I can handle, especially if I'm doing a good Sufferfest workout. Time flies by and it's not bad at all. The treadmill on the other hand, I'd rather poke needles in my eyes than hop on the treadmill. I have friends that will do up to 20 miles, WHY?? I'd rather suffer outside in the heat or pouring down rain than run on a treadmill. The only time I do use it, is if I'm doing speed work and I want to control (push) my pace. But it has to be short, 5 miles is the most I can stand. Why is it that on a treadmill, zero incline, a 10 min. mile seems way harder than being outside? For me anyway. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() easy run this a.m. and then a bike + swim brick this afternoon I have the rest of this week and next week and then I'm done with this build period. I'm looking forward to a recovery week, because this is making me tired. I keep passing out on the couch before 9...no time with my husband at all. I got home from picking my son up from camp yesterday, and there was a dead skunk floating in my kids' swimming pool. Baahhhhh!!! I am a girly girl when it comes to creatures and bugs, so this was seriously disturbing to me. My husband went to the Indians game, so he got home after I'd gone to bed. Left him a note telling him to kindly take care of the carcass in the pool (then get rid of the pool).........GROSS!!!!!!!!!! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Fun day on tap -- Long swim (4200) and recovery run. This is my last big week before IMLP (about 24 hours this week), then next week is a rest week, then into a 3 week taper of 18, 12, and 6 hours. At this point just trying to get through the volume (when all I really want to do is sleep).
I'm also working hard to really tighten the diet. Pretty much the only things I still have control over for IMLP are my body composition and how rested I am. Goal is to drop about a pound a week and to make sure I'm sleeping enough. Should be interesting to see if it works out. |

I can't imagine the fatigue of your training load (mine is getting to me, and it is much, much lower than your's). How are you going to change your diet? You seem to eat really well. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Let's see..... It's raining here. HELL YES!!!! Maybe it will put out some of the wild fires in the area. Got to the pool this morning and the sky was putting on a small light show while I was stretching to swim so inside I went. Strength training circuit for the legs. I'll hit the treadmill later, maybe during the US Gold Cup game. Cindy is targeting http://www.trigirlsports.com/page4 It's a half mary put on by Tri on the Run here in Houston. They have a half mary, sprint tri, and mud run (kinda like Warrior Dash) all of which are female only. Her and a bunch of friends are planning on doing it. I'll see if I can get her on here. Other than that I found out a guy I know at the gym is opening a triathlon specific shop about 3 miles from my house. This is very much needed in our area of Houston. I'm pretty stoked. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Assuming the weather cooperates and a wetsuit is not too warm I am shooting for a 30 minute or under olympic swim for the relay this weekend. I did 32 minutes for 1 mile last night and even that was a little relaxed. Game on!!! It is the only leg of the relay I am responsible for, so I am going to give it my all . . .
I don't think I have ever done under 40 mintes for a olympic or half, so I am super excited to see where I come out. And been wearing the DeSoto suit, its just great. |
