Here you go Dee

a link to the schedule

http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/Schedule/index.shtml

Cycling (road) - starts tomorrow 8/9. Swimming - starts Sunday 8/10. Cycling (track) is 8/15. Triathlon isn't until 8/18 and 8/19. Um, and "track and field" isn't listed at all? Hm. I'm obviously missing something.

Don't count on cycling being on tomorrow. I heard the event got delayed because of the air quality.

that's been a real issue for the whole thing hasn't it?

Actually there was a really interesting article I was reading... a couple of former athletes who are commentating over there went for a run in the air a couple of  days in a row to see how it affected their normal training and whether it really is that terrible...

They seemed to think the heat more than the pollution would be a factor... felt that the pollution while not something you would want to live in was not that bad.

I dont remember it being bad when I was there years ago... but a different time of year i guess..

I'm still working, so I don't have the TV on. But it's nice to know that I'm not missing any events.

(I didn't think the parading would be exciting. But I could be wrong... Then again, a parade HAS to be better than working at 11 PM on a Friday night....)

Hm. Cat has 12107 posts. I only have 10645. I've fallen behind. BUT there are 11 months until the TdF begins, so I have plenty of time to work on erasing that deficit. (Of course, next July, she'll have another 3000 posts during July, but....)

Yes.  We're so far off China's time that they are doing weird things with time delaying lots of the stuff.  It makes it a little annoying to watch final events because they like to put them on at night to et more viewers.

That would bug me... Id want the m to show it LIVE and dealyed so if I wanted to not know the results I could watch it live... its too hard to avoid peoples converstations and the news etc all day...

But thats just me!

Im trying to remember what they did for Athens here... I THINK we got live coverage and delayed/rpt stuff during the day too so you could watch anything you missed...

It's not a repeat. There's only one TV channel with the broadcast rights. They opted to show the opening ceremony during prime time, and not air any of the sports until afterwards.

I assume they're trying to attract a wider range of audience... They know they'll pull in the sports-lovers, so by showing the ceremony, they probably hope to pull in the non-sports-fans.
