I don't know how to make it work :'(

booo

Just going to avoid it and do something else till me supervisor comes back from lunch...I guess I could go mix some solutions up for my experiments next week...bringing back the intro chem! Woohoo

Well I figured out how to make it work...the letter P needs to be in the 5th spot on the file name and not the 6th spot where I had it....

Good job me!

How was everyone else's day??

Not bad.  Long swim, big dinner and now I'm tired.

Heading to bed soon so I can get up for my long ride.  I'm a little discouraged that there's rain in the forecast now, but we'll see what things are like in the morning.

Yeah for the 5th spot.  Darn that 6th spot anyway.

My day was great.  Pirate kids, strength training, bike, watch hubby play tennis and get rained out (back for the rest of the match Sunday morning), super dinner out.  Had an eggplant role and it was delish.

I need him to confirm a drug dose anyways...fail...

So story time...

Its about my bro. He's 19 and he's one of those genetically predisposed "athlete" guys. He's about 6'3" and prob right now about 165-170lbs (athlough he will tell you he weighs 190+...lies). So anyways, he played hockey for years and when he was in grade 12 he suffered 2 concussions within about 4 months and was having trouble...so when hockey ended, he said he didn't know if he was going to go back at all the upcoming year. I guess he just didn't like/want to play anymore. So my Dad convinced him to try out track as he's always been able to run even though he has never run before. After his first city track meet he came home and said that the UofA had scouted him (the school i go to). He was always one of the "just make it through high school and graduate types", so suffice it to say he couldn't go an do track for the university yet. So he joined the Edmonton Sprint Academy and was working on upgrading his high school (which surprised me as he never had any ambition before to do it, but he's doing it, which is great). They originally started him in the 400m. He's not really a pure sprinter though so it would take him till the 3rd turn to gain speed, and then he would crush the field. I've been around alot of talented athletes in different sports and I've never seen anything like it. Its one of those, "you know, maybe he could make the olympics?"...I was never that good and I will never be that good.

Anyways, his coaches figure he's not a 400m runner, but instead a 800m/1500m...so they are switching his training and won't let him race this season. He says its so he doesn't get injured. Ok, fair enough. I get a text from him about a week ago asking how much my bike cost. I told him alot and wanted to know why. He tells me, "well, I'm going to start doing triathlon and I need to get a bike"...

Ok...wait...what? You're going to do triathlon? I've been away for 2 months and he decides he's going to do triathlon? I sent a message back to him asking him if he realized that tri=swimming...kind of as a joke...he writes back and tells me he's been swimming 4x a week and its starting to get better...I have no idea what is going on...I told him not to buy a bike right away and just use my other bike that is at home for a bit--its a men's hybrid and would work for him for the time being. He doesn't even know if he likes the sport yet...

I got an email from his yesterday...he went and bought a bike! Decent bike--Specialized Allez Triple...$850 or so (I told him to not spend over $1000 for his first bike!). He was telling me all the specs...(I didn't even know he knew anything about bikes)...

Just don't know what is going through his head. I mean I'm not complaining. We definately got closer when he switched sports from hockey to track. (I think maybe we finally had somethign in common because training for swimming and track are something alike and swimming and hockey are nothing alike). I just have no idea where this triathlon thing came from. I have a feeling he's not going to go back to track...which I guess is okay and its his decision to make and I should just be "good on you" about it...but I feel that he's gonna miss out big from not staying in track because thats where his strength lies...

Just confused Undecided That is all...i will wait and see how it plays out...I don't really have a point or question to go with the story...its just a story.

(Still waiting on my supervisor...haha)

It's so hard watching those kids make life decisions, and all you can do is watch.  Maybe we'll see him win Kona in a couple of years.  Laughing

Sounds like he wants to be as cool as his big sister.  That and kick your butt at a tri.

Sucks that he won't be pursuing track with that much talent, but it's his life and he should do what makes him happy.  Could be that he didn't like the structured training and coaches grooming him for certain events.

Bet he hammers out a wicked fast run split his first tri.

Haha. I am cool arn't I? Cool I don't know if he perceives me as cool...the last time he and I had a "discussion" about me being cool or uncool, I got "well maybe if you would go out once and awhile...blah blah blah" haha.

I'm fairly certain that I don't qualify as "cool"...haha. So it must be to beat me...its not like he will have a hard time though...

I might cry the day he beats me in the water ...I'll eventually get over it...but I will have my pity party moment.

Oh sibling rivalry...

Who knows what goes through his mind sometimes...I'm just going to smile and nod...

Busy day yesterday.

Had to go buy my husband and son short sleeve dress shirts for the wedding. Cleaned out the car. Had to go pick up a prescription (took my motorcycle for this) There is no easy way to get to Gettysburg anymore. They are doing road work at 4 different places between here and there. Tossed everyone in the shower. It took us 2.5 hours to get to the resort where the wedding was. It took us less than 2 hours to get home.

The wedding was beautiful, but it was very late. The wedding started at 6:30, the reception didn't get started until 8:30, we didn't have dinner until 9:30. All of the kids were ready to pass out. We left at 10:00 to come home. I crawled in bed at midnight.

I'm a little tired now.

I hope everyone else had a good Friday.

Morning Ghoulies.

Got a very very hot run in this morning. The last 2 km were at 8% grade. I have a week and a half to get to where I need to be. It is gonna be close. If I can keep it to under 13 minute miles I should finish, and not be LAST.

Have a day full of a funeral, a hospital visits, a birthday party (a friend's), and an association meeting. Talk t o you all tomorrow.

Hey Neal, the rain never got here! It is HOT HOT HOT and DRY DRY DRY.

Oy!

So the website I though was HILARIOUS last night...well its less hilarious today...haha...I swear I was sitting in a chair having to hold back my laughter...Its kind of like Superbad...Man when I saw that movie for the first time I was probably the loudest person in the theatre...soooooo funny...then I saw it again out of theatre and it wasn't quite as funny....maybe I'm just desensitized the second time

Hope you have time to rest after yesterday Ann!

Hope all your stuff goes well Robin...(I'm just loped everything into "stuff")

Hope your ride went well Neal (and that you didn't get rained on)...

Slowly working my way up to my ride...slowly...have no idea where I am going to go...Feeling a bit nervous on going over the mountain pass solo...hmmm...I need a riding friend..(At least my brother's random switch will be useful for something?)

Greetings all.  Got up early and knocked off 7 before it got too hot.  Was still pouring water on my head at the end though.  Ran a few errands, now I think I'm going to stretch out on the sofa with a book.  Pretty certain I know how that will turn out.  Wink

I plan on doing the same thing after I feed the kiddos. After the long day yesterday and the short night, I'm pretty sure I know how it will turn out, too.

This is the exact opposite for me and my brother.  I'm 4 years younger was NEVER able to take him.  Finally last winter I was able to beat the crap out of him and have the pictures to prove it!  Now it may have been that he was much more intoxicated than I was, but the details escape me.

ironannekidd - 2010-06-26 12:12 PM So the latest in the life of Ann

I have a friend who is trying to hook me up with a job in New Jersey as a Systems Administrator, which is what I want to do. The beauty of it is... I CAN WORK FROM HOME!

More money+job I want to do+less travel=HAPPY ANN

AND...

If I get this job we will also be getting a Great Dane puppy. My niece bred her Great Dane and they have 2 week old puppies. Cross your fingers and toes everyone!

Cool, cool, cool!!!!  Everything crossed that will cross.

Same here!  That is an exciting prospect Ann!
