ha! I told you I didnt know anything about bikes... I saw some like them and they are really deep looking. You dont think I would have problems with cross wind? Last year the race was cross wind for the first 70 miles and tail wind for the last 40...

T-minus 3 hours 40 minutes until the race kicks off. It's just about go time for me.

Good luck to all the Junkies racing today, be safe and have great races.

Thank you again for all your support.

I'm not sure if this is a sign of things to come but I woke up from a dream this morning that I was late for my IM race LOL and then the alarm went off and scared me half to death. I hope I have a much better race day LOL. Do you think I might be just a little nervous?

I'm gonna do my best as you guys already know. I got to meet Brenda last night and see JoAnne as well. I can't tell you how happy I am that they are here volunteering and supporting me. Hopefull the next time I'm posting it will be after I finish.

The 808's will only provide with an advantage, IMO.  Even if there are moderate winds I don't think you'll experience anything that would cause you to get nervous.  When I used the disk back in July I had 6 and 15 MPH winds with slightly stronger gusts and I didn't have any issues whatsoever.  I felt very stable throughout the ride.  And the push with a tailwind??  That was really nice on the disk!  You should have a similar feeling ride.

The aerodynamic benefits of the 808's will get you off the bike a little faster having left you with a little more energy for the run.  USE THEM!!!

I suggest you give them a few spins before the race.  You don't need to do it now but a weeks or so out, try to get hold of them and ride in calm and somewhat windy conditions.  That should give you the confidence you need right before the race.

Another thing, make sure you're riding the right cassette.  It may be that your buddy is riding the same as you but make sure to check.  No surprises come race morning!!  The wrong cassette could be devastating on a climb.

I just commented to Lis that it's kind of nerve wracking that there are so many Junkies racing on one day.  It'll be great fun to track everyone and see their performances after all these days of training to get to one place............"A" Race day!

Jonathan and Warren are out of the water.

At this point it Jonathan is ahead of Warren.  Warren's swim comes in at 39:51 and Jonathon, and his ape arms, have sprinted out in front with a smoking 33:11 swim.  Holy cow!!  Great swimming!!

Both are now on the bike course with Jonathon having another edge in T1.

I have not been able to find Matt at Rev3.  It seems that they are not using an athlete tracker this year, as Matt already stated.  My confusion is from the myathletelive website that says they'll be tracking.  It may be one of those races that you have to pay a small fee to have the tracking chip.  I'll be checking on and off throughout the day.

I am planning a ride in about an hour so stay up to speed with everyone while I'm out.

Matt's in the water!!

The only way we'll be able to see him is through the Rev3 results page, found here.  Search for his name Matt Ambos or use his bib number (471) in the Half Rev search.  It will show his times/splits as they post them.

So far he's 24 minutes into his swim.  I am sure who knows but they had put rip tide warnings out for Lake Erie, according to Matt's FB post.  It's likely they moved the swim into the marina area, across the causeway from the original planned swim course.

Matt's out of the water!  I can relax a little bit.  But only a little!  I'll feel much better after Tony's out of the water.

According to Rev3 Matt is still in T1.  Past history seems to indicate the Rev3 does a much better job of getting the times up than Ironman.

What is the cassette? Is that the teeth found in the rear that the chain runs on? Why does that matter?

I'm tracking Tony w/ the my athlete app and it's not showing me anything...

I am back from my bike and checking in on everyone now...........

Here are Warren's splits.  He pretty much tore up the bike!

And Jonathan's race. Jonathan crushed the swim!  That's an outstanding swim time!

It appears to me that both of them had great races.  I hope both are satisfied with their results.

Tony's headed upa long climb right now.  He looks to be doing pretty well at this point in the race.

Here he is on the bike course so far.......

And here are his splits........

He's made it over half the bike and only about 45 miles to go before he's pounding his way to being the first Junkie Ironman!!
