So far I have a good track record with parents.. but it's still rough. I actually got caught doing that. Needless to say I wasn't giving her rides to school anymore after that. Ouch! Yeah. Wouldn't say it was the smartest thing we've ever done. 1 door down the hall while they are sleeping. Ummmm..... yeah. Hi. I think I'll be leaving now. |

So far I have a good track record with parents.. but it's still rough. LOL. Yeah, I remember that being your age. In your mid-40s, they'd be more shocked if you WEREN'T boinking. I don't know what's worse: the SO's parents knowing you're boinking, or the SO's mom wanting you to get hitched and start boinking without BC so that you can start giving her grandbabies. |

So far I have a good track record with parents.. but it's still rough. HAHAHAHAHA...I think maybe NO dads would love you if you had a sign that said that. =) I'm sure you're right. As the father of a small boy and girl (7 and 5) I'm always a little puzzled - and perhaps this because I have a child of each sex - that there appears to be a double standard when it comes to girls vs. boys when they become old enough to be sexually active. It is somehow not as "OK" for girls to be involved as it is boys - probably somewhat due to the fact that girls can get pregnant, and boys can't - but girls can be just as sexually aggressive as a boy in a relationship. As a parent, you eventually need to accept that your children - especially once they're legal adults - are going to have sex, and probably have sex with people you don't personally approve of. By the time they're having sex, you've already done everything you CAN do as a parent to make sure they're making good choices. (shrug). If and When I have kids I'm not so much worried about having a boy. Ain't no way he can get away with 1/2 the stuff I did when I was young. I'm scared whitless about having a girl because my luck is she will meet someone just like I was back then. To say the least I was a little man $lut. Running joke around my house was "so who is it this week?" |

I only have one piece of advice, somewhat colored by 2 divorces (hey, I don't seem to have a problem FINDING relationships, its staying in them that's the trick): Don't get married before 30. Don't. That gives you plenty of time to pop out 2 grandbabies.
Haha, no danger of that. And I do actually find it all amusing--it's certainly preferable to her hating me! |

My rule: Don't have one until you can afford one. |

My mom is always like "awwww, she's so cute..." Yeah, parents always love me. That doesn't stop me from being nervous about meeting them, though. |

Yes, Schwamm, but you seem like the kind of person parents would WANT to meet.Sooo ... um ... my ex was this chi-style guy and we lived with his mom while we were both going through school. We had the bedroom next to hers. It was WEIRD. Sooo ... um ... meeting the parents of the next LTR after that was weirder. He was 19, I was 29, and he had just finished his frosh year during which I was his instructor. What was REALLY weird is that his parents were the ones making goo goo eyes at each other and throwing out innuendo about us ... in front of his 14-year-old little brother. I need to pick better guys. Clearly. From that, and recent incidents. |

Running joke around my house was "so who is it this week?" I can understand that. But part of your job as a parent is to equip her with the knowledge and fortitude to deal with that kind of situation in a manner that protects her interests and yet doesn't restrict her freedom of choice without setting off those 'queasy parent feelings'. The best thing you can do when you have children is, taking into account that each child's personality age is a little different, in families where you have more than one child - everyone gets treated equally and fairly. And I can tell you right now, you'll spend a lot of time feeling guilty and 2nd guessing yourself as a parent. It sucks, but its worth it when they throw their arms around you and say "I love you!" And THAT, my friend, is what I'm looking forward to most. |

My one serious bf's grandmother thought i was the best girl, ever. "She likes milk!" She gave me a bunch of knitting patterns... and a year after we'd broken up, she was still asking about me. i guess he didn't like that too much, heh. |
