sorry i was MIA.

i ran out to do my Thanksgiving shopping after i read the article about the pumpkin shortage.

first waffles, NOW pumpkins.  WHAT is the world coming to????

i tell you one thing...there was no way in heck were gonna have Thankgiving dinner at my house w/out pumpkin pie.

i got the pumpkin pie stuff and the rest of the stuff too while i was there...now im all set.  just need to get the turkey.

no articles on turkey shortages right??!!!?

i was just about to leave the store and i thought, i better get stuff to make mashed taters.

my sister in law makes the best scalloped potatoes, and i love sweet potato casserole so im making that (i dont think anyone eats it but me and my DH and kids)

that should be enough potatoes, but i thought, somebody will say something about there not being mashed taters, so i thought, i best buy the stuff and make em.

then ive been meaning to watch the movie THE READER.

i did.

and now im depressed as all get out.

but another uber hottie, i just love love love.

Good Evening Ghoulies!  Happy Weekend !!!

It has been a tough, crazy busy week at work, but now it is over for a few days!  I have managed to do pretty well on the workouts.  Did  "Disdainful" session # 17 today on my break at work.

Hope everyone is doing well.  I will be back later to read and catch up!

At least you guys got to hear the ending. When I took my wife, the sound cut out for the last 3-4 minutes of the movie. The good news is they gave us free movie passes that don't expire for like 18 months.

Ugh!  That happened to me once.  Of course it was at a key point in the movie and I was clueless as to what was going on just by the visuals alone.  I really didn't think the one free pass made up for it

Morning Ghoulies.  Yesterday was nuts.  Had a meeting in NYC and traffic was a nighmare.  It took me 2 1/2 hours to get in!!! (It is only 35 miles).  Why didn't I take the train?  Idiot. Beginning of gridlock for the holiday season.  Then my boss scheduled a meeting at 4:30 and I was in the office until after 7pm.  Uggh.

Parents are coming here for Thanksgiving. Plus a few local friends.  Anyone who doesn't have a place to go is welcome.   My sister and her family were supposed to come but the BIL has the flu.  I suggested that they just send the kids down, but that didn't fly. Undecided I've ordered the turkey (already cooked) from Whole Foods and pies (pecan, cherry, pumpkin) are coming from a local diner.  I just don't have time to do it all.  Will do sweet potatoes and vegetarian cornbread stuffing.  I'm sure people will bring stuff as well.  No one will go home hungry for sure.  My cats will go nuts.  Turkey scraps.  They will think they're in cat heaven.

The morning starts off with a local Turkey trot.  We'll eat mid afternoon.  No other real plans.  Probably some heated card games that evening.  My mom cheats..... a lot.

i was actually referring to the ending of the 7th book, not the movie, being very disappointed in how Rowling chose to end the series.

if it were up to me, i would have...well.  you know.

im trying to remember how HBP ended?  isnt that funny?  my son cant remember either...

i do remember vaguely that i thought they left you hanging/set you up for the next movie.

you'll need to refresh my memory.

but then, what w all the audio issues at the end, TOM, you might not be able to recall the end any better than i can.

Good evening Ghoulies!!!

I was just a few minutes shy of getting 10 hours of sleep last night. That's almost 2 nights worth. When I finally did get up I went and tried to swim, it didn't go well. After 200 meters I gave up and went Christmas shopping.

I had some good luck and some bad luck shopping. I got the Blue Ray + DVD + Digital Copy of UP for $19.99, the tag said $34.99, I even questioned it after it was rung up. Apparently it was on sale. I got my daughter a crayola clipboard thingy, and a refill coloring pack. The refill was $9.99, but because I bought it with the clipboard thingy I got it free. Good stuff there. I was looking for 2 of the Lego Millennium Falcoms, not the great big one but the smaller affordable one. I checked 3 stores and none had it, I'll order it online. I was also looking for a Nerf gun for my son. The only place that had it had it priced higher than I found it online and the higher price didn't even include the extra Nerf darts, so I'll order that online as well.

We took the kids to the Y this evening and swam for an hour and a half in the warm water pool. That was a pretty tough workout. The kids kept throwing those sticks that sink all over the pool for me and I'd have to go find them. We were all throwing toys all over the pool for each other to chase. My son has never been very good at putting his face in the water, but tonight he was swimming all over the pool with his face in. I was so proud of him. My daughter is just a fish, she just swims and swims until she can't swim anymore. Then she grabs someone, catches her breath, and does it all over again.

Oh and any of you that don't have a turkey yet we have a 24 and a 28 pounder that were just put in the freezer today. I also have a 19.8 pounder in my freezer that I got for free from my grocery store.

Have a good evening, the last one to bed in the village, make sure you turn out the lights.

Daniel Radcliff -> Very nice. I'm hoping to be a cougar when I get a little older, I wonder if he's game
I've read all 7 books. I did think the ending of the 7th was a bit off, but it still was enjoyable, a bit drug out, but enjoyable. I only ever saw the first movie. After hearing so much about how closely they stuck to the story line I was really disappointed by the movie. They did stick to the story line, but they had to cut out so much that I was let down. I never had a desire to see the others after that.

skrtrnr - 2009-11-20 3:58 PM that's a good GHOULIE QUESTION.

whats your favorite/most meaningful holiday tradition?

My husband and I were just talking earlier about how we don't really have any holiday traditions. We always have turkey, but sometimes it's here, sometimes it's at my parents. Nothing that I would really call a tradition though.

After we were doing talking my running partner called and asked what we were doing Thanksgiving morning. She's from Kentucky and in her family it's always a tradition to run the 8k turkey trot. Her husband is a pilot and he won't be home until Thursday evening so they're not going to Kentucky until Friday. She asked if my son and I would like to run/walk the 5k turkey trot she found about 20 minutes from here. I hope we found our tradition here. My son agreed to do it so my son and I, and my friend and her 2 boys are all going to do the turkey trot together. My husband and daughter are going to cheer. She's only 6, maybe next year she can do it with us.

Good evening Ghoulies. Kind of a crappy day out here on the Left Coast but hopefully tomorrow will be better. I hope everyone else's weekend is going well.

Neal - I watched that game too. That was some crappy football. Good thing the Gophers decided to play their JV offense! Seriously though, congrats to your Hawkeyes on 10 wins this year - well earned.

I'm sorry you had to subject yourself to that offensive debacle.  All the beer in the world was not making that game pretty.  But I'm a firm believer in the win is a win mantra.  They should end up in a good bowl.

Hope you have a much better Sunday
