Good Morning Everyone !!!!

Went to the pool this morning.  It must have been about 90 degrees.  Way too hot.  Swam a quic 1300.  This will be my last "real" workout until next week.  I'm hoping to get a run in or two on vacation, but I'm not stressing about it.  I think my training has been going great and a week off won't set me back too much.

Happy Easter and I'll talk to ya next week.

Morning all...

Kevin - sorry the back is still giving you grief.  Have you done anything new with your bike set-up?  I went to a physio guy that also specializes in bike fits.  A few small adjustments here and there made a big difference.

Rebecca -  I hope you do not have to wait very long for your MRI.

Kelly - safe travels and I hope you have a great vacation.

Our group rides start up this weekend.  They are having a bike maintenance 101 class before we head off.  I guess it is finally time for me to learn how to change a flat (haven't had one yet and there was always someone with me who knew how). Next week it's bike handling drills and the week after that transition set up for swim/bike and bike/run.  Should be fun.

Have a great Easter weekend everyone.

Yay for bike maintenance!
I had a buddy show me how to change a flat a couple of times.......but last week got my first "real" flat. Yikes. Two hours from home and sitting in the grass with the cows staring at me hoping like HECK the SECOND CO2 was actually going to go into the d*mn tire.
It was all good in the end.......but I would advise that if you are planning on using CO2 that you sacrifice a couple of cartidges and practice inflating with it so you know EXACTLY how it works.

Thanks Karen... I'm thinking that I may need to have the fit checked out and adjusted for my inflexible back. Was thinking I need a new saddle any way.

Just got back from a 90km ride with a leisure tour group... was a great day for a ride. +25*C and 22km/h winds... even the wind wasn't that bad, since we had tailwinds for over 1/2 of the ride.

Kevin hope your back is feeling better.........

We had a lot of fun this morning and yes they had us practice both with CO2 cartridges and with the hand pump.  We practiced taking the wheels on and off (and I discovered that it isn't really a big deal to take off the back wheel and put it back on), how to clean and grease the chain, etc. The workshp went on a little longer than expected and we also had one wicked wind storm come through yesterday so there is a lot of debris along the roads.  We decided to postpone the group ride until next weekend so it will be a trainer ride for me.

Anyone racing this weekend?

Getting MRI done tomorrow. Weather was beautiful this weekend. I did go for a walk on saturday. Did 35 minutes of hills and 15 mins of stairs. I really felt it saturday night and sunday with a tremendous amount of pain. I put my bike on trainer and every hand position hurts my shoulder so not sure that is a great option right now.

Hopefully I will get some good news this week from doctor!!!

Oh Rebecca........listen carefully to your body.........if every position hurts then I gotta think that perhaps you should not ride for now.

Question: why were you in pain after your run? Your shoulder you mean?? Or do you mean just your legs??

"It's been about 3-4 months since we started this program...and I hope we created a lot of triathletes!

Right now we will allow the current mentors and group to 'disband' should they want to.  It is a lot of work to lead and keep track of 5-10 people and we thank them VERY MUCH for getting their group of Winter beginners into the triathlon lifestyle.

What happens next?

  • Your group can disband
  • OR your group can keep going here should you like, even if the mentor leaves.
  • You can also still link your group thread and members into your training log to stay in contact.
  • Your old group thread will still be available here to use and post on EVEN if we move it into the 'Mentor Archive' forum when we start a new season."

My shoulder hurt after Saturday's walk. Hurt sunday too so much that I didn't do anything on sunday. I hopped on trainer today but that was uncomfy so I stopped. Going to go for a walk tonite. Seems that is all I am able to do right now. If I don't need surgery, hopefully I can start PT next week and begin the recovery process!!

It is in a sling when I am out and about. I was good. I even did my hills and stairs in the sling. I take it off when I am home just chilling and at nite. I should know something this week. I really think that I am not going to need surgery. Just PT. I think it is just going to take a while to heal. I am struggling with that because I lost 35lbs last year and do not want to gain it back!!!!

Sorry I have been a little absent this last week. Work and training have been keeping me quite busy!!!

I hope all goes well with your MRI rebecca I wouldnt worry about the weight gain...it will be fine as you ease back into training.

Today is supposed to be 85 degrees! I am going to try and OWS later this afternoon. It has been unseasonably warm so I am hoping!!!
