just finished my lunchtime run...wasn't that bad...actually, it was pretty normal.  Looks like I'll be able to resume normal training.

I did a little treadmill run this morning.  It didn't feel good, but it didn't feel bad either.  I must be getting over this sinus thing.

Good deal - anytime the treadmill does not feel bad is a good day - I despise treadmills

I'm not a big fan of treadmills either.  I'm trying to embrace the fact that I need to utilize them a bit more often.  To do this, I run with a plan.  When I run on one, I pick a target heartrate.  If it strays from the target by plus or minus two beats, then I adjust the speed accordingly.  I run for time so I don't get caught up in how fast or slow I'm going.  It seems to work.  It keeps my brain engaged.

That is a great idea - I read a book one time and the guy would just pick something out in front of the treadmill and focus on that for the entire time.  So if the sun is down at the Y I do a light fixture reflecting in the window and just try and focus on that so I don't pay attention to how far or how long I have to go!

That is what the outdoors is for

That is why I always like to use the one with a mirror in front of it. People prolly think I'm totally vain, staring at myself the whole time, but it somehow helps with the time and with form!

As long as it works who cares what others think

I agree and luckily I am fortunate enough to get to run outside 99% of the time ~ at least for the next month and a half!

tri808 - 2010-03-23 7:53 AM I was already thinking about it yesterday, but after feeling my body today, I think I'm going to cut back my race schedule.

I'm taking out a Sprint tri next month...since my real focus is an Olympic in May...and I'm taking out a half marathon in June...since I probably won't be near top shape for that either.

Needless to say, I still have 12 more races left this year.

I haven't looked at your race schedule but there's the Val Nolasco 1/2 mary in November and it's a lot of fun. Plus, the course is the same (or part of) the full mary course!! Are you planning on doing either?

Yup...I plan on doing all 5 of the marathon readiness series.  I did the last 3 last year.  I couldn't do the first 2 because of an injury.  I don't plan to run at race pace for all 5, just more of a training run that allows me to get aid station practice.

I'm jealous...I had planned on doing the Honolulu Marathon this year as my first but as you know, plans have changed! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the Hono Oly planners did a better job this year at planning ~ last year it was turned into a Du cuz of the jelly fish invasion! Go figure, huh?!

Its weird.  I've noticed quite a bit lately that I will show offline when I'm logged in and looking at the screen.  Don't know what it is.

They did...according to the moon pattern, the jellyfish calandar for May predicts they will arive on the 6th through the 8th...a full 8 days before the Honolulu Oly on the 16th.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-23 2:25 AM I think I am going to replace the disc brake units also - they are pretty corroded.

Anyone have a suggestion for cleaning them up and just replacing the pads - or should I do a full replacement - it has been 3 hard winters on them in the snow/ice/salt conditions - plus a lot of mud in the summer.

I'd love to offer up some helpful knowledge but I am sooooo NOT a bike guru. I'm thinking I seriously need to learn to do more myself. I think I'm more along the lines of (was it Tim's??) wife who just had to do a complete overhaul of her bike? I still take mine to the LBS for most things outside general cleanings! Sad, I know!! *hangs head in shame*

Bill send me a PM with the make, model, or photos.  You should be able to just clean them up and throw some new pads on them.

As for the challenge, I should be able to hit my goals for the month in the next few days.  I should be able to make 105 percent without a problem.

Let's keep up the pressure TWISTERs!

Hey Tracy, you're close to the Lost Coast, right?  Have you ridden the trail system there?  Apparently, the trail association built a singletrack loop there that is all legal for MTB.  Any comments?

Was under the goal for my run yesterday with only going 1.35 instead of 2.5. So tonight I thought lets see how close to 30 min straight I can go - made it to 30 and 2.8 miles so I made up .3 of last nights run tonight. That means only .85 tomorrow to stay on track..
