wgraves7582 - 2010-03-22 2:27 PM I have to replace my snowbike bottom bracket tonight.  The old one got destroyed this winter.

Clean her up and put her on the hook for 8 months!

That makes you sad, doesn't it? 8 months with no snow.

It did at first but now that it has warmed up somewhat I am ready for warmth!

I still have to replace the brake housing units and rotors and will probably have the wheels rebuilt - they are getting pretty beat up!  But I have 8 months right?

That 8 months is going to go faster than you want it to.

ceilidh - 2010-03-22 7:11 AM Stacie, WAY to go on the tri!! Of  COURSE you make a tri suit look good!
That is odd about the minutes vs doing miles on the bike... is that normal for an indoor tri?

its is a bit ODD, ROBIN.

most indoor tris use bikes with cyclocomputers to record time/distance, like on stationary, spin or aerodyne bikes.

our spin bikes dont have computers, so it was just a timed ride.

unfortunately it put me at a disadvantage...i probably wouldnt have been able to catch the 1st and 2nd place finisher, but i know i would've placed 3rd if we used bikes w computers.

undoubtably i was the strongest cyclist in the first wave of women.

but.  at least i know that, internally.

AFTERNOON GHOULIES.

back from a mighty fine day.

ease back into workout this morning, 500 yd swim and then ab and arms.

grocery shopping.  man my cupboards and freezer were bare.  its been a while since ive done a BIG shopping run.  i prefer the go and get what i need for the day route, but this way i have a freezer full of meat and the basics are covered.

i can get the side dishes as needed.

then off to meet a LOVELY group of women for lunch.  this is a meetup.com group - Dinner and a Movie, but theres enough of the group that have a flexible schedule that they often meet for lunch as well.

i couldnt stay for the movie since i had to be back in the Burbs, but they dont mind if you dont/cant stay for the movie afterwards.

its been awhile since i got together w all them, so it was nice getting back into the loop.  and a nice/supportive group moving forward too.

and i SCORED a free salad on top of it!

have i mentioned that im CHARMED???

its all good.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-22 2:49 PM Howdy Queen - great job over the weekend - you rocked that baby!!!

thank ya muchly mr w graves.

i have to say i impressed the heck outta myself even

considering how wickedly sucktastic my training has been, ESPECIALLY the run.

i was talking to a friend of mine today who is a swimmer/swim coach and told her about the improvement that i made in the swim in less than a year.

she said that big of an improvement is unheard of.

usually you improve by seconds not minutes.

and to think that my runs have been sooo difficult lately and to have run a PR, again impresses the heck outta me too.

its a good feeling at this point in my trainng knowing that have still have two months before my first 'real' tri of the season, to think that i will continue to improve, not by those leaps im sure, but still.

ridiculously exciting.

oh....did i mention.

a member from the Y and i got to talking.  our kids take indoor soccer together.

we got to discussing triathlons.

the guy has always wanted to do a tri, he runs and cycles but isnt a very strong swimmer.

he asked me if i would take a look at his swim stroke and make suggestions.

someone asking lil ole me to take a look at his stroke?!?

definately took it as a compliment.

[YES.  he's married.  LOL]

Heya Ghoulies. I ran and I am actually smiling Laughing
I ran 3/4 mile then walked 1/4 mile. Almost 5 miles and my shins ARE NOT HURTING!!!!
A 12 minute mile is NOT what I was hoping for BUT..... I would rather be a turtle running than a hare on the sidelines.
Onward Turtle!!!!

I am out of here for the evening and won't be back until tomorrow. I go to Raleigh (5 hours there) for a meeting then drive to Winston Salem (2 1/2 hours back) for another the next morning. If the WiFi is good I'll check in tomorrow.

Have wonderfully Ghoulish evenings.

PS. Where is Tom and Kendra and Melindy and Katie?

Sorry I've been AWOL a bit Ghoulies. I had a pretty bad weekend, from which there's still more than enough unresolved drama. I tried to break out of my funk with a bike ride Saturday and a run yesterday, but neither did the trick. I'm hoping to give it another go in the pool this afternoon if I can get out of here in time.

I hope you're all doing well. I'd go back and try to catch up but I think I missed too much! Here's to better weather, more miles, and more smiles.

If it's family - take a few days R & R and bring your bike and running shoes and come here.

If it's not family - give me their names and I'll have a lil' Ghoulie chat with them and we'll come to an understanding.

x2. And a 12 minute PAIN FREE mile is light years better than an 8 minute mile that leaves you laid up for weeks or months. Great job Robin!

In that case I'll go load up the bike right now.

Seriously though, it was just a rough weekend and there were several breaks in communication that resulted in a lot of people's feelings getting hurt when that really didn't need to happen. I'm just as guilty as the next person, but I'll be OK and I know everyone else will be as well.

TOM.  make sure you stop here in the Burgh on your way through.

communication can always be challenging, especially when emotions are running high.

but im certain, as are you, that everything will work itself out.  always does.

Hi Ghouls.  Whoa. Long tough day, but in a good way.  I am mentally exhausted and probably won't catch up tonight. Maybe even just start over clean tomorrow.  From what I recall:

Robin, nice job on the run. I'm in the 12 min crew right now as well. Come to NJ for a run anytime.
Tom, hope the drama subsides soon.  If you need me, I'll be there with Ann to take care of whoever.
Melindy, cheer up.  Spring is coming.
Ann, a beautiful new bike is in your future. Very exciting. Hope you are healed and ready to ride soon.
Bill, hoping for good weather in 5 weeks. (hope I got the calendar right, if not please correct)
Amy, where are you?
Dee, how is that grand baby?
Neal, how much snow did you wind up getting?
Queenie.....Whoooo Hoooo. You Rock.
Katie, Kendra and Jules....come back anytime.  We miss you.

Just ordered Thai delivery.  Some spicy noodles in my immediate future, then an early bed time as Masters swim is 5:15am tomorrow.  More later.

Whew! I am here! I have been having some issues with my laptop, the mousepad has been acting funny, and then last night I noticed the "clicker" wouldn't click very well. I have been using my wireless keyboard and mouse, but a few minutes ago, as I was posting, my computer shut off. That's not the first time today. Luckily I flipped it over to check the battery (I just unplugged it, it couldn't POSSIBLY be a dead battery already...) and what do you know... the battery was EXPANDING, and was DOA. Wow. My poor little lap coulda/woulda been a little burnt in mere moments. Thank heavens my hubby is home, and he gave me the spare battery for his laptop.

What else is going on in my neck of the woods?  I have been having alot of fatigue and memory problems lately, as well as a slow, steady weight gain, despite being better about my diet. Long story short, my doc thinks I might have sleep apnea, and ordered an overnight pule oximetry and a slew of blood work. :/  My hubby is in town, which was unexpected this week. My parents and my hubby are all going out of town ON MY BIRTHDAY next week, so we had my birthday party last night. What else? Oh, yeah, I decided to go ahead and be on the directing committee for the new marathon in my neck of the woods. I am in charge of marketing. **eek** Thank heavens for an experienced committee and an RD who doesn't sleep much. I will learn a TON, I am sure.

I missed you guys.
