I'm glad you are more positive about this Sam.  I will have to do the same since I can barely swim right now because of my back.  I'm just doing what I can; unfortunately, if I can't get through the swim then I can't get to the rest of the race *gulp* lol

Is there any chance that your leg will be healed before the race? Just wondering.

Sam--stay consistent with the ART treatment.  It will work.

I have a 70.3 Saturday in Fairbanks. I am eager to see how that goes.  Life has really gotten in the way these last two weeks.  I am in need of getting back on my training plan.

Nerves for the big race are starting to get to me.  Ha!

Nathan,

I'm in the same boat as you as far as the nerves are concerned.  Life has meant that I've missed some workouts recently too.  I've adopted the mindset that I'm going to (hopefully) toe the line healthy and tapered and what happens, happens............

Happy and safe training everyone!!!

Alan

NashinAK- Good luck to you as well. I hope you have a positive experience that gives you confidence.

Carrie- My Achilles could be much better, and my hope is that if push comes to shove, I can run the last few miles, but my goal is to finish without that being necessary.

Anyone- I'm doing 2/3 IM today. Swam 2.4 miles this morning. It went well. I'm heading out for a 112 mile bike in an hour our so. The ride was scheduled for this weekend, but I have family plans to attend to. Should be a good day for it!

Good luck to everyone in Muncie.

I took the day off from work today - got a 119 mile ride in  and it looks like I just beat the rain - some long runs this weekend.

Nice Sam,  I did not go that fast. lol I did have some things slowing me down today but I wouldn't have gone that fast if the stars were perfectly aligned.  Overall I'm very satisfied with the ride.  I could have went without the worm guts on my legs today, though. I hate when they're out :-(

General---Good Luck in Muncie to everyone racing. Hope you all PR and crush your age group competitors!!!!!!

Trisam--Uberbike. You'll have to take that motor off for the race, Cancellara.

Heading up to Derby City for practice swim and to ride course this weekend. Looking forward to testing fitness on hills and rollers. Get to see my big sis too.

Almost 7 weeks to go. Getting excited. My wife is designing T-shirts for Team Doc. I encouraged her to be as obnoxious in her design as possible. Is a big HTFU on the front too obvious.

5:15:01 for me... Ok swim, crowded, no wetsuit, whatever. Bike rocked, good tailwind second half and "Bella" was a bit frisky in the corn fields of Indiana today (21.2mph avg, 23-25 second half). Solid run, faded a bit at mile 9 but still 12sec per-mile faster then Fastgusta (8:29 pace) on rolling hills. For a "B" race building to Louisville....im THRILLED!!!

Great race, Cube!  Very impressive!  And Sam, way to rock a long ride!  I think your determination and expertise in the swim and the ride will serve you well in Louisville, whatever means of locomotion used for the run ;  )

I'll be in Grand Haven tomorrow for the Oly tri.  Last year we had a SW wind pushing us north to the pier--very nice!  Even though there was a little chop in the water, the swim was fun.  Friday I re-rode the bike course, and when I got to the beach, Lake Michigan was flat as a pancake and very, very calm.  So maybe that'll be the weather tomorrow.

Whatever happens, we will continue with style, eh?

Tailwinds, Todd

Hey all, Muncie was hot and awesome! The wifey and I both went out and beat our goal times, I was 4:38:41 (9th in M25-29) and she was 4:58:01 (4th in W25-29). Swim felt a little longer than 1.2 (and other experienced swimmers/triathletes agreed with my assessment), so for the others who did this event and may have been a little disappointed with the swim split I wouldn't let it bring you down. I had the bike ride of my life and averaged 22.9! The run started off awesome and I was right on target for my goal of 1:35, but like The Cube I blew up at about mile 9ish and really struggled to bring it home in just under 1:39 (7:33/mile).

Overall it was a GREAT race for my first ever half iron, and I figured out a lot of logistical/equipment related things for Louisville, but it was a little disappointing in that I have come to realize that in every long workout I do I fall apart around the 4 hour mark. That's not a problem for a half iron because I can grit my teeth and pull it out, but in the full iron I am probably barely done with half the bike at that point. I am thinking I need to gain a little weight and add a little more fat to my frame for fuel reserves (I am in the ballpark of 6-7% body fat). Anybody have any knowledge on this type of thing or an opinion on whether that might help me hold it together longer in the big one? Any advice is appreciated.

tualkas...for IMLOU, just pull back on the HR for loner distance. I plan on a lot of mid Z2. Today I was low Z3 (140-150 on the bike and High Z3 (160-165) on the run.
I know everyone thought it was HOT today, but really, the humidity was low so it felt nice to me. Louisville is a LOT more humid, so beware!!
