That's true, forgot about endurolytes.  There are several products out there if you want a tablet or capsule vs. a flavored tablet to add to water.  I just think you need to be careful and not take in too much.  Finding the right balance is tough.  I used endurolytes last year during training and had good experiences as well as bad experiences.  This year I've been sticking to GuBrew, whatever the gels/chomps have in them, and Nuun.

I am trying to figure out a way to get electrolytes on long out and back runs where I only have water along the course.  Gatorade endurance would be hard to mix along the way. Thoughts?

Nuun tabs, Gu tabs, Hammer tabs?  Any experience anyone?

i like and use endurolytes, they work for me well in the longer hotter races.

Endurolyes - they are pills, dont try and down them while actually running though.

Also PowerGels have  much more sodium/potassium/magnesium than other gel products.

Heading out for a 2 hour bike ride.....then tomorrow morning I have a 10k race.  The race is in my hood.  It will be nice to just walk out the door for the race.

Is Rudy the only other one racing this weekend?  Good luck, Rudy!

What do you all have planned?

Do you maintain triathlon training while training for a marathon?  Just curious......I was considering a late spring marathon next year.

Happy training!

pretty much up at 5 AM every day.  i just swap in the marathon program for the run porition of my tri plan (which kelly will tell you is more of an outline than a plan).  after my last tri, i will cut biking and swiming to 1x/week and add an additional run.

anytime you wanna come down to Norwalk on the weekend, i would be happy to take you to the beach, Calf pasture is only 4-5 foot deep a long way out, we can swim along the beach and if you have an issue, you can stand up.

I would love to get my wife in a kayak to watch me swim!!

Did a 40+ mile group ride today. Lagged a little on the hill climb in, but was able to stay with the pack and draft coming down. Did my share of pulling the group and even took the lead on one of the last hills coming out. What a way for me to celebrate my birthday (tomorrow).

Did the IMLP bike course today and then a 6 mile T-run.  Other than crappy weather, everything went well.  Hoping it will stop raining tomorrow for my long run and swim.

Kelly was also mentioning a OWS BT get together.  I need to get my swim volume up, otherwise, it'll be a total waste for everyone involved waiting for me to catch my breath. But as soon as that happens, I'm in.  I'm also going to try to attend the Tri BBQ you host on the 31st if I get the chance.  Swimming seems to be the hardest discipline to get the hang of, out of all three.  For me anyway.

Well now that my Dad and stepmom are gone (left yesterday), I can get back to training semi-regularly. I enjoyed their time here and cherish being able to play golf with my Dad, but now it's time to get back at it.

Went for a 3.25 mile run this morning and it's already hot as heck outside, about 90 degrees and the sun is blazing. The whole time I'm running I was thinking about the Oly on the 31st of July...it's gonna be a scorcher!

Happy Sunday everyone!

I have a couple questions -

My husband has been running more lately and his nipples chafe - what can he do for that?

Why is Total Immersion controversial?

Do you wear some type of foot protection(water shoe) during the swim part if its in anything other than a pool?

I know - they are totally unrelated, I just keep forgetting to ask!

Thanks!

Nip - for runs over 2 hours i use the large waterproof bandaids.  also a tight shirt helps.  (my wife offered to buy me a sports bra hardy har har).

TI - no clue why its controversial.  It really helped me.  you just have to be careful not to rely too much on the glide.  you dont want to develope dead spots in your stroke

Swim - just my feet!  there are neoprane booties that can be worn for super cold swims, anything else is unnecessary.  if it is a long run from the finish to T1 (like alcatraz with is more than 1/2 mile) you may want a pair of running shoes at the swim finish

Also a question regarding T1. Running from the water to T1, your feet must get covered in sand.  What do most do to get that off.  Just a quick rub from  a towel????  Getting a few pebbles still stuck in the toes has to cause major issues on the bike and run, NO?

Keep a bottle of just water in T1 and spray off your feet.

BTW just got back from Walmart.  I need a drink.
