Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Taser Roasted Peeps Not sure what is up for lunch today, but it is to be 83* here again today so I am hoping to get out for a walk/run in combination with the lift and tape today. Things here are crazy - family in next week, then the following week is a trip home Th-Tue for a bridal shower so work is busy and I am in the office only 6 days in the next 3 days. Hubby has decided to switch companies for Insurance and start a home re-fi. Both will save money but goodness not everything at once. Have a happy Tuesday and St. Patricks Day. Stacie |

One piece of advice I learned after my 1st race (also a DU) is to make sure you hydrate enough prior to the race. I got a nasty calf cramp halfway through the bike which really limited me the rest of the way.Today it is supposed to be 74*. If I had planned better I would be out running already. But I am a bit lazy this morning! My plan for the day is to do my first ever brick. I have my first ever duathlon on Saturday (3.1, 18, 2.5) and realized yesterday I have never done a transition. Such newbie talk! I think I will do a 2 mile run and then a 15 mile ride. Or should I go the other way around? Any thoughts? The brick went well! I did do the run first and then bike and it was exciting and hard. I have learned the hard way about nutrition, so I had lots to drink, water and go-juice, befor the run and then another 16 oz of go-juice and a gel while on the bike (and some water with the gel). I felt good at the end and think I will do good during the race on Saturday. |

Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: Taser Roasted Peeps My brick went pretty good too! I did have some bike issues though. My front derailleur was acting all screwy. I had to jump off to see what was up with it. I beat it into submission and back off I went. About a mile later, I dropped my chain. Grr. After that, my ride was smooth sailing. Slow but smooth! Nice two mile run afterwards. Not real speedy but that is okay. This was my first brick in around a year! Yikes! I stopped running a little early. I saw Liam's teacher and needed to talk to her. (I started my training from the school so I can use all my alotted time) Anywho, we ended up chatting for like 45 minutes and it had nothing to do with what I asked her. Good afternoon all around. |

Good afternoon all around. sorry you were having bike troubles. must have been 'in the air. my gears were all grumbly today. ever since i let my husband ride my bike on Saturday.... not sure ill do that anytime soon. nice run afterwards too, thats SUPER. how'd your legs feel in the transition. the last time i did a brick, my legs FELT like bricks, my feet were numb (cold) and it took like the first mile before i felt like i was goin anywhere. i had heard that transition from bike to run can be 'tricky'..... |
