ok susie, time for me to read you the riot act.

turning 30 ROCKS. you get to be a grown up now, people will actually take you seriously because you aren't a "kid in your 20's" anymore! 30's are WAY cooler than 20's!! i did my first tri 5 months after turning 30, i spent my 20's being a fat smoker!! embrace your 30-rock it-make it work for YOU!! i'm about to turn 32, and even though it seems weird (even still) my 30's are kicking my 20's arse!! LOL

aww ... thanks for the pep talk.

I just feel like I wasted all of my 20s being fat. But, on the other hand, if I don't change now, I'll be fat for all of my 30s.

Hey everybody!  I hope you are all having a non-snowy day.  My dh got stuck in Atlanta yesterday because it was snowing -- SNOW IN ATLANTA???  But he made it home this morning.

I'm hobbling around a little bit today.  I didn't run this morning, but do plan to swim this afternoon.  But in general I don't feel too bad, so maybe I didn't push hard enough yesterday?  That's what Torture Dan says, and he also told me, "

I would have thought the first 6 miles would be much slower than the last 6 miles

because of the wind. That last kick tells me you had plenty left. (I am so going to make you hurt this Spring on the track.)"

Uh oh, I am so in trouble...

man he is TORTURE DAN! hoping he told you good run! or otherwise...let me at him!

No looking back now, Susie! Kiss those 20's good-bye, cherish the good memories, and move it on up! You're (almost) in your 30's now and that is awesome! I never thought I'd see 30 when I was 18, couldn't imagine what it would be like. But well on the other side, now, and I'm sure glad to be here.

Stay warm today!

Be careful about the apps you decide to use in FB because FB is not looking out for its members!

Everyone -

The weight demons are coming at me again. Or, as Dietgirl would say, it's a Fat Girl Freak Out.

I am sitting here just terrified of losing weight. I'm almost crying. I know that might not make any sense, but it happens every time I get about this weight. I've gotten to this weight probably 5-10 times and then retreated out of fear.

The fear is not from failing, but rather from succeeding.

I'm not sure I can adequately explain why, and people would look like I'm crazy if I told them this. But seeing 197.2 on the scale, and gunning for 196, just freaks me out.

I've been writing in my journal about it ... that it's safe to lose weight. That I am doing great and just to keep going. That I am really working hard at it right now and that's the difference. I'm just not sure what to do to keep myself on track AND distract myself from this fear.

And I'm not really sure what the fear is ... only that I've never been below 190. It's totally uncharted territory.

Any ideas of what to do here?

One thought might be to abandon the scale completely for now, but I'm not sure that's the best thing to do because I do love the cool spreadsheet, and I'm going to Weight Watchers, so I guess I'd know.

how is your weather Tricia? was pouring here when I was running...and now the sun is shining! but looks REALLY REALLY dark on the horizion and just as I was typing this note one of my heavier lawn chairs went racing across the back yard and plowed into the fence....IT IS WINDY WINDY WINDY! kinda spooky windy! glad I got my run in before this wind hit!

I say lose the scale....feel the weight disappear in your clothing.....try it for a month! maybe we should have the no scale challenge! I'm in! I have to say I have been weighing myself more lately then ever! and I often do not like what I see...especially when you work really hard to not eat things and you work out daily...and see little or no loss...also realize Susie that you are a beautiful person with or without the weight..you will always be Susie...whether skinny or when you have more weight on! I have a shelf in my closet where I put some of my SKINNY clothes! these are clothes that I do not fit into...when I first started this shelf I tried on some pants that were sooo cute, they barely went up over my calves...not a chance of them going over my thighs! I had and still have THUNDER thighs and am pear shaped..I inherited a big buhunkus from my mom..even though it looks cute on her! after a month of constant exercising, weight watcher meetings and visits to the scale...I was not seeing much happen! I went to my closet grabbed those pants...and to much of my surprise they went on....and fit REALLY Tight..but they were on!! what I am trying to get at is...scales sometimes can be our biggest fear...our biggest enemy! and I SAY LOSE IT for at least a week...keep doing what you are doing...no sodas, the no sugar diet...and I promise you...you will be down in the 180's before you know it...and then there will be NO STOPPING SUSIE!!!  hope you dont give in to those thoughts of not succeeding! I just dont see you as one to fail!

So, a little bit of recovery going on here.  I swam this evening (yay!), and muddled through it somehow.

They finally posted the results from the HM yesterday.  I didn't place as well as I had hoped -- 10th out of 88 in my age group.  But the top 12 ran sub-9 minute miles, which isn't too bad for us 50+ women.   I'll do a race report soon...

Hmmm, as far as the "free pass" option goes, I think that I'm going to tough it out as well.  I've given up candy, cookies, ice cream, cakes, etc.  For some reason, it's easier for me to give it up entirely until Easter.
