wgraves7582 - 2009-11-23 8:05 AM We are only on Thread #1 still?  wow!!

Well I am back - did a little training (hiking and walking) but saw awesome scenery and sometimes that is more therapeutic than training itself.

Pictures to follow when I download them.

BTW - Good Morning Ghoulies

Welcome back! Hope you had a fantastic time!!!

Without Jules here we have to fill all 100 pages by ourselves

All I will say is that if I were single I would not have come back Smile

I'm happy to hear you had a great time, but we would have missed you if you hadn't come back. Embarassed

Thanks Ann - I would have had an annual Ghoulie Bash at Yosemite though - we could swim, run, ride, hike, and eat for 1 week - that would be awesome!

Only once a year, come on, we could make that a spring and a fall event!

El Capitain at Sunset

Gorgeous Sunset!!  Glad you had a great time.

Morning Ghoulies!  Just stopping in to say hi, but I am dashing outside to rake leaves before work.  I just didn't get it done this weekend.  However I did get my run in and #18 of the Disdainful Airdyne.  Priorities ya know!  Laughing

See ya later!

Sounds good to me - I would move there (as I assume you have guessed) but have no problem going out there 2x a year for some training!

I have the kids talked into going to AZ or NM with me. The husband absolutely refuses to leave the road we live on now. He has lived there his whole life, his family lives there, that is where he is staying.

I keep telling the kids to go somewhere cool for college so I can move there with them

My wife's family is all here and no one will leave (or even travel for the most part).  They just don't know what they are missing!

EXACTLY!!! My husbands family is the same way. They do go to NC for vacation, but they go to the same place every year, and the majority of the family goes together.

There is a whole great big world out there, and I'd like to see it. That's why I signed up for a half marathon in AZ, I've never been there. My husband has asked me numberous times to  just quit, or only sign up for local 5k's. We live in the middle of nowhere, all they have is 5k's. Even to travel an hour to Harrisburg for a marathon or a tri he thought was unreasonable.

Yes, I do bang my head against a wall a lot. Does that explain anything?

I have a headache Smile

My wife asked if I would take the family to Yosemite.  I told her I would but she would be bored because she does not like to hike or really even camp.  She told me there has to be something for people to do there that don't like that stuff.  Not really.  It is about getting out into nature and absorbing what it has to offer us.

I should have been born 100 years ago!

I'd have gone with you! I've never been to Yosemite and I love being outside. I've always said I'd rather mow the yard with fingernail clippers than to be inside doing housework.

I want to go to Nashville in April for the HM, but I can't find anyone to go with me and I don't want to go alone.
I'm just planning on running the Marine Corps Historic Half instead.

I wouldn't have done well 100 years ago. The whole women's rights thing and all.

Nah - you would have been fine - I read the story of the first woman to climb Half Dome while I was out there.  Amazing!

You can always come to Iowa in April but Nashville sounds more inviting

I would love to do something like the trans-Iowa race some day. Right now I'm not in good enough bike shape, and I don't have the time to take off. Although if I'm unemployed in a month I'll have plenty of time to train and race, just no money to support it.

AFTERNOON GHOULIES.

welcome back mr. wgraves.

and oh my the picture.  worth a 1,000 and then some.

and both BILL AND ANN i can sooooo relate about your spouses.  MINE is the exact same way.

we should ditch them and hook up the THREE of us.  course then we'd have to move to UTAH.

but UTAH has vistas too right?? LOL.

my husband has been hardly out the state.  his parents still live in the house where my father in law was raised.

they have NO DESIRE to go anywhere/see anything.

id move in a HEARTBEAT...i so want to go to Colorado or at the very least somewhere sunny and temperate.

please oh please.  but no.

funny what you said BILL, i tell my kids all the time, move far far away so i have 'reason' to come and visit you.

and i keep 'threatening' my husband, once the kids are grown, im gonna move, and he can have some 1 room apartment and telecommute to me on the weekends.

though.  in his defense.  he has a GREAT stable job here.  and he's a part owner/share holder.  sooooooo.....thats part of what keeps him rooted.

but still we could travel a lot more than what we do.

he just is SUCH a homebody.  even w the boat, he never wants to go far, or try some new lake/river.

just the same ol same ol.

whatever.

i just about scolded by ALL his family when i went to Thailand, w/out him and the kids, for 10 days.  you would have thought i was ABANDONING THEM the way everyone reacted.

for good ness sake, its not like i was going to some third world country.  and even if i was, i was a group of people.

we were in Phuket, which is about as European as you can get in Asia.  the hotel we stayed at was oppulent.  believe you me, i was NOT sufferring.

when we go on vacation its in the same condo, on the stretch of beach.

though i love, love Hilton Head, i cant see myself going anywhere else on vacation, i suggested maybe we stay on the other end of the island.  you would have thought i suggested we stay on the other side of the world.  he wont hear of it.

my husband doesnt like to camp or hike or kayak or white water anything the things that i like/like to try.

though, he did really enjoy the 60 mile bike ride we did in Cooks Forest, we couldnt stay in the park though.  we got a hotel room outside of the park and stayed there.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????  they have these cabins in the park that are just as nice as some hotel rooms....but nope.  he had to stay in a hotel.

were gonna do the Seagull Century in October, which ive heard is just a spectacular ride, so im trying not rock the boat too much.  at least he's willing to ride on a bike w me for 100 miles.

[it will be our 20th anniversary]

GOD LOVE EM.

had a black bean quesadilla havent had one in awhile it was uber yummy.

got in my 1 mile continuous swim today.  had enough left over energy (surprisingly) that i could have done ST, but i forgot my clothes.

wouldve looked awfully funny doin ST in my bathing suit, though i have half considered just borrowin a pair of shorts from my friend.

ah well.  i have the a couple days this week to slip it in.

question for you:

i have that 4 HOUR SPINFEST/TURKEY BURNER ON SATURDAY.

originally i was scheduled to do an 8 miler, but in lieu of the fact that:

im spinning for 4 hours equivalent to 60 miles on Saturday

that i was sick yesturday

that its a busy/'weird' week w Thanksigiving and my boys being home\

ill still do 2 swims, 4 hrs of cycling, 2 ST sessions, and 2-3 runs (6x400, 3.5 mile, and then whatever i do for my long run)

i was thinking of doing another 6-7 mile run this week and 'save' the 8 for next week.

does that sound reasonable??
