well I don't get a 4 day week all the time, I just schedule it that way for the summer, I have an excess of vacation days that have to be used up and I find this is a nice way to use them in the summer, so no 10 hr days for me.

Pete, you need to do something about that!

Tell me about it. I pretty much do the same thing with my vacation time, but I can't use them in the summer because of how my contract is laid out. I accumulate days throughout the year, and I START in the middle of May, so by the end of the summer, I have a total of about 5 days to use. Come April, when I still have 5 or 10 days of vacation to use, though, it's not bad at all.

I do start summer classes on July 5, and they go Monday through Thursday until August 3.  So don't hate me too much!

Well, it is still nice.  We have the option of the 5 8s or 4 10s.  Most people with kids choose the 5 8s b/c it just works better with school/daycare hours.  Lot of business around here are going to the 4 10s and justify it by saying that you spend less time on gas and commuting and they actual get more productivity out of the employees.  Just the commute for me saves me 40mi a week, 160mi a month, and a savings on gas of $33 a month.  It all adds up.

Plus I just love being off on a day during the week to get errands done rather than doing them with everyone else on the weekend.

That is a great way to do it, it is enticing, but I would find that I didn't have enough time in the evening to do everything I want.  I changed my hours several months ago from 8-4:30 to 7-3:30, it also saves a ton in commuting time(amazing the difference 1 hr either way works)  and I get home early enough to do everything I need to, inclucing training, making dinner, walking the dog and some time to laze about and watch the idiot box.

I guess we are lucky to have employers that allow us the flexibility on hours Tim.  Sorry Pete:-)

Erica, I envy your lifestyle right now, enjoy it before you become part of the full time work force:-)

At times I definitely miss the college days.  No real responsibilities except making sure I make it to class and doing my homework.  If I can just make it to retirement it'll be like that without the school part!

Yes Debbie, but the problem there would be that I don't think I could handle a classroom full of children the rest of the year, I would need the summer just to regain sanity! So enjoy your summer off, it is well earned!

So we had a baby reveal party today and it was a lot of fun to tell everyone what we are having and I wanted to share with you all! My daughter opened a gift and inside the gift was a box and inside the box was a onsie and the onsie had a picture of princess fiona! We are having another girl! My brother in law was convinced it was a girl and started calling the baby fiona, so we thought it was fitting to get the onsie. It was a lot of fun!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Debbie - I am so happy for you!  On the other hand, I would never be able to handle girls, knowing how awful of a child I was.  Have fun!  Wink

It's weekly weigh-in day!!!!  Yay!  What are the numbers, people?

I'm at 159.0 today.  Only down .4, but that's okay because Ryan and I went out to Pizza Ranch on Friday so that I could eat lots of awesome pizza, and then we had a bit of a cookout on Saturday.  Totally worth it!

Apparently I knew it was weigh in day last night. I had a dream that you guys were over at my place in person for the weigh in! I didn't lose as much as I did in my dream, though (I was down 8.5 in my dream :P )

Official weight for 2011-06-13: 178.5 (my scale only works in 0.5lb increments). Happy, considering I kinda also indulged this weekend with post-race food (I didn't race...) and a whole bunch of gourmet popcorn yesterday. This week is going to be a heavy training load, so that should help a bit!

Happy Monday everyone!

Look at all the weigh-in early birds!

Congrats Debbie!

I came in at 208.2 this morning.  Dropped 1.6lbs since last Mon and 6.2 overall in 13 days!

Question:  Wife and I were supposed to have our bad day on Sat but we just didn't feel like it.  Has that ever happened to anyone??  Should you force yourself to have the cheat day even if you are not up for it?  We did have one cheat lunch (pizza as well) but ate well the rest of the time.  The pizza even gave me a stomach ache later in the day.  What's happening to me!?

I wouldn't force yourself to cheat! If you feel like cheating, cheat. If you don't want the crap food, don't eat it Just means you're growing up, Tim :P

Agreed!  Though I can honestly say I never have a problem cheating...  I love me some good food!

Also, Pete, when are we coming over for the weigh-in?  And are you paying for plane tickets?

I'm the same way... If anything, as with most people, I have the opposite problem! Though when I get into a good routine, I often don't really crave junk food. Working on that routine now!

And door's always open Unfortunately, my Gulfstream is in the shop indefinitely, so you're gonna have to find your own way up here

Well I am down 2lb's this week, putting me at 172lbs.  I had a good week of eating, although I indulged a little on the weekend, we had a couple of friends over and made little slider burgers(mine were turkey) had some wine and angel food cake with strawberries and a little bit of whip cream....yummy!  I also discovered Skinny Cow Ice Cream, it tastes like an indulgence but is only 2 WW pts.

Nice to see we are all down on the scales!

Debbie, congrats on another girl!

Tim, don't force yourself to cheat, save it for a time you really do want to indulge.

Erica, how great to be down after the indulgence of pizza....mmmmm it usually takes me a couple of days to lose the water weight from the salt overload. But oh how I love pizza!

Pete, how scary that we are invading your dreams! Sorry the loss wasn't the same as in the dream.

Not scary... I mean, we've been a group for how long now? A year and a half? I say it's about time :P

My wife and I love the Skinny Cow brand.  She loves their fudge bars and I prefer their ice cream sandwiches.  mmmmm, making me hungry.

I just hate how expensive they are!  I went to the store yesterday to get some and just couldn't bring myself to buy them.  Ryan and I do buy Dreamsicles a lot though.  Those are only like 100 or so calories per bar, too!

So, I'm supposed to have a doctor's appt today, but I think I'm going to cancel.  I don't see the point in continuing to go to this doctor when he was the one who only decided to send me to a PT once I insisted.  Since I still have PT appts set up, all the doctor is going to say is "okay, keep going to pt then."  It's not like he can just take an x-ray and see that everything is fine.  What do you guys think?  Plus, I don't want to waste our insurance money on this appt when it would allow me to get one more PT appt instead.  Hmmm...

Hmmmm, I too would be a little hesitant to go back to the doc just yet especially if all he did was refer you to PT.  I would just stick with the PT for a while then reassess if things are getting better or not.

I agree no sense in wasting time and money on something that most likely won't do you any good.  Stick with the PT and if things do not get better, then you will need to go see a doctor again to push for further testing or get referred to a specialist.

Okay, appointment canceled!  I agree with you guys.

We're going to a wedding this weekend, so the whole weight thing might be touch-and-go for next Monday.  The bride (Ryan's cousin) is having the best baker EVER make her wedding cake (with 3 amazing flavors), so trust me when I tell you that I will be trying every kind!  I am SO EXCITED!  I love weddings!

I have a bunch more randomness, so tune out here if you're not interested!

1) Took my dog on a 4 mile rollerblade yesterday, and she is still exhausted.  She has pretty much slept all day.  And I'm not very good at rollerblading either!

2) Think I'm over my new MG.  They're not really supportive enough for me, and they're all so experienced and tight-knit that it seems like the newbies get lost in the shuffle.  So if you guys don't mind, I'll be needing you just as much as ever for at least the rest of the year!  But I'm so partial to you guys now, I think we should keep this up anyway!

3) I want SO BADLY to go on a run!

4 (last one, I promise!))  I think I'm absolutely crazy now.  Ryan really wants a powertap because he really wants to get serious about triathlon, but they're like $1,000, and we just don't have the money for one.  So, starting tomorrow, I'm going to start donating plasma (ugh...) and saving that money so I can buy him one for his birthday in October.  Is this insane?  HONEST opinions, please!

Over and out!

I've never donated, so I can't really comment, and I have no idea how often you can, how much you make, etc., but it sounds feasible. What about also clearing some unneeded stuff out, too? Kijiji and Craigslist are great ways to bring in a little bit of cash, or selling unused tri stuffs on here?

Sorry to hear the new MG's aren't working out for you guys, but we are here and I don't have any plans of leaving this group, it keeps me accountable and on track with my fitness goals.  And I enjoy supporting you all with your goals, issues, questions, etc, whereever I can.

I don't know much about plasma donation, or how often is recommended.  Are you crazy, perhaps, but then aren't we all:-D  I think it is very sweet that you would consider doing this for Ryan, he's lucky to have you!

Enjoy the cake!

Ooooh, I like the idea of selling stuff!  I just did a quick walk-through of the apartment though, and honestly, we don't have a lot of extra stuff.  Lots of books I could part with though, so I am going to put them for sale tomorrow!  I could get rid of my Wii, too, but that was a gift from my brother, so I would feel really awful if he noticed I didn't have it anymore!  I will keep looking for other stuff though.  Thanks for the tip!
