ironannekidd - 2010-06-28 6:01 AM Nice pictures Neal!

For the record Funyuns are an essential food when you are in college. I don't know if I've eaten them much since I've been out though.

I was out of it yesterday after my run. I just felt like I couldn't get cool. I stayed in the house in the A/C the rest of the day, but I was just hot. I took my temp twice and I had a slight fever. Not sure if I'm brewing something or it was just because of my long run in the heat. I couldn't bring myself to take an ice bath, but I did take a cool shower when I got back.

I feel better today, so who knows.

that heat can screw with you.  Glad to hear you are feeling better today!

iowagander - 2010-06-27 5:16 PM Hey Ghoulies! After many months of waiting, Tom is a triathlete!!!! I had a great race today and it was even more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I finished in 1:22:43 (500m, 20k, 6k, 3/9 in the Clyde division) but they haven't posted splits yet. Once I do, the RR will be up.

THANK YOU to all of you for all of the support, advice, and juju over the last 8 months. You're all incredible, and this race was made even better knowing I had you guys to share it with. I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Morning Ghouls!  Happy Monday.  HA!  Nice pics Neal.  For the record, I do not think I have ever had a Funyun.  Ann, hope you stay cool today.  I ran this morning and it was a steambath even at 5:30.

Thank goodness.  I don't think I could manage this heat for every run this summer.  I guess I've gone a bit soft.

You haven't gone soft, you are running more than just a mile or two. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be comfortable while you are suffering.

It might do something bad...I'm sure caffeine direct into the blood stream cannot be good. On top of the fact that coffee is not sterile...haha

So I was randomly thinking about this the other day:

I wonder if med school would allow me to do a "sports med" elective in Hawaii for Kona? hmmmmmm...might need to look into this.?

Basically anywhere that is not Edmonton would be cool. Haha. Depends on timing of my electives depending on my clinical rotation schedule. Hmmm...I wonder if anyone has tried...I can see the Dean's face now...pondering the validity of my sports medicine elective...

I'm sure you could make a case for studying the effects of endurance sports on (name something in the body).

It would have to be verifiable and all that...have to figure out who the chief medical personel is and they would have to sign off.

People get to go to random places in Africa/Middle East/Asia for medical electives...I don't see how they could definatively say, "no, that is wack" when people are doing international electives everywhere else.

Mild training   --   Steady but slightly slow work   --   Busy rest of life (helping hubby with car show details, training puppy, etc.)

Also I am losing weight!  Overall I have lost 9 - 10 pounds since the first of the year.  Double if you count the pounds I gained on vacations and then lost again!  Hubby has lost about 20 - 25 pounds.  We are both just over 1/2 way to our goals.

Thanks!  The weight loss sure helps us feel better!

You all take care in that heat!  We had a nice weekend 70-75*F.  But today it is cloudy and cool again ... in the high 50s* right now.

Well, I gotta get to work.  See you all later!

Hey Ghoulies! I'd just like it shown for the record that I was logged on to BT in time to say "good morning" to all the East Coasters, but it's taken over a half hour for me to be able to navigate to the "Post a message" screen. Sigh... my computer really sucks... Hopefully they'll get it squared away soon.

Not sure what the ramifications would be, but there were many nights on the ship when I was standing the 10PM - 2AM or 2AM  - 7AM watches that I seriously considered rigging one up.
