Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() trigal38 - 2013-03-01 7:36 PM Ok - I need to channel all of your Junkie inspiration for my run tomorrow morning. We have decided to take a last minute trip out of town. We are heading to Cincinnati in the morning and I have left my weekly 5 mile run until, you guessed it, tomorrow. I know the only time I will have to get it done is early morning before we leave so I'm posting here to make myself accountable. In the famous words of Mr. Cable Guy............. .......Git R Dun!!! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Alright, let's have those February totals. I missed an entire week, so hoping March is way higher... especially if I'm going to go for an IM late this year. Bike - 10hr - 161 miles Run - 5hr - 31 miles Swim - 5hr - 14,100 meters |

![]() I did it - out the door for my run at 4:00 a.m., 5 miles in 18 degrees all by my lonely self in the dark. I'm not a morning runner, I was stumbling over my own feet for the first mile or so LOL. I don't want to do that every week but I'm proud of myself for not bailing on that one. All I kept thinking was the sooner I finish the sooner I can have my coffee That makes 5 weeks in a row with a longer run of 5 miles or more for me. Last year I think I only ran that distance a few times and then had to deal with lots of pain in my leg from that cyst (which is still there but not giving me any pain). I finally feel like I'm making some kind of progress! I'm slow but still going so I'll take it. Here are my Feb totals:

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in. I would like to feel like I could carry my bike's with more volume through my marathon training but the overall leg fatigue was beginning to effect my run a bit. I also wanted to be able to get some swims in, which were almost completely absent in January, to begin to balance out my training again. I hate seeing the bike volume drop but something has to take a hit.

Getting up at 4 AM and getting anything done is an accomplishment in itself!! I am a little different however, I have to have a few minutes to get my mind in gear and body awake before going for a run AND some coffee. I really need at least 30 minutes before I can force myself out the door for early runs. It's really awesome to her that you're getting those 5 milers in. It has to make you pretty happy to be able to string those together. Congrats! |

Way to go Dina, much respect from me for getting out the door at 4 AM but more importantly sticking to your schedule and getting the that long run in. Good to hear that you have been able to run without the issues you have been experiencing. I hope you can continue to run pain free and hopefully not have to do it at 4 AM ! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My totals are not too bad but could've been better. I need to be swimming and running more. I'm getting plenty of time on the bike with following Jorge's plan and getting 4 rides a week in. I think I am close to 1200 miles over the 13 weeks I have been doing it. The bike and run should be good for March but my swim time is going to be down. The pool closes for two weeks and I doubt I am going to be able to to do something more than once a week at another pool since there really isn't anything close by. We'll see, I'll try and swim as much as I can while the pool is open in March. I may try and do 3 to 4 times a week while I can. February's totals: |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I got my first ever run in on the treadmill last night. I've never run on one before ever. It took a little bit to get oriented to doing it but it wasn't really that bad. I ran for an hour and was just under 6 miles as I sort of ramped the speed up as I got more comfortable running on it. I also did my first bike/run brick this season and my first one indoors. Last night it was the dreaded 2x18's @ 90-95%. That was a pretty tough bike workout but not bad as I thought it would be. I got an 1:05 in on the bike and then 1:00 on the treadmill. Good thing was I felt pretty good afterwards. I think I may be in the best shape I've ever been in. I'm certainly in much better shape to start the season than I was last year. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() February was an odd month for me, started out strong then sort of faded out towards the end. I did manage to get in 2 solid races and feel I am in a good place right now. My biggest issue is making the commitment to the morning workouts. This past week I missed 2 bike workouts because I didn't have the motivation to get up, and this is why I am only covering 2 of the disciplines right now. If I want to swim it has to be in the AM and it is a lot of work to get to the YMCA that early. I have also had a large amount of family gatherings that have hindered the Saturday long ride. This past week became a unplanned recovery week. The 10 mile race took more out of me than expected so I relaxed a little bit. It came out a good time though, I have been building for 8 weeks, and now I am 8 weeks out from the HM at the end of April. Too cut the babbling...... February's totals: Bike: 12h 22m 58s - 207.84 Mi Run: 17h 28m 31s - 113.14 Mi Swim: 1h 10m 53s - 3100 Yd I think I need to swim more ![]() |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Here are my February totals...
I think it helps to compare to the previous month(s), so here's my January for comparison...
I totally did not realize it until I pasted it here... my run mileage for both months is like exactly the same, how funny! But it looks like my legs were a little tired in February compared to January since February got more time on feet... |

(I have been on a facebook hiatus for quite awhile.) I have an account on Linkedin but I haven't even looked on it forever. I'll stick to FB and Twitter. Anything else and I'd be buried in social networking and I'd have to start ditching WO's and I think we all know that ain't gonna be happenin! |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well.....I might have beat the women's record again! I'm not so sure I did as good as recorded, though. I think I'll wait for the official results early next week. Regardless, it was a great race and I rode to my absolute potential! I couldn't have gone any faster. Lots of the fasties showed up today, too! I know there were lots of age group records broken between the two courses (hilly and flat). The weather was pretty good. Damp pavement, dense-ish fog, lots of water droplets on glasses, 48*, no wind. Oh! And a cattle drive on the course that finished up just before the start! Yuck! ETA: The local news was all over the place, too. Every time I came around a corner, the he was with his video camera! Need to watch the news tonight. Edited by RunningYogini 2013-03-02 2:17 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Was planning on a 3hr bike ride outside today, but it was too cold and windy. I did manage a 2hr ride on the trainer though and may try to add an hour tomorrow (my rest day). Needless to say, my sit bones are sore after 2 hrs on the trainer! |

Will sounds like you got a good solid ride in today. I can relate I managed to finish a 3 hour ride on the trainer today. I was sore and tired and soooooo did not want to do it but I really didn't have a choice I have to work late tonight. I didn't want to not get a long ride in this weekend. Even as tired and sore as I felt physically today that really wasn't a problem. It was all mental today trying to fight through not wanting to do the ride at all. This felt like the longest 3 hour ride I've ever done. It's good to have these types of workouts once in a while it helps build mental toughness. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Awesome Feb totals everyone! Definately helping to inspire me to make the time for myself to train. One of my goals was to put my health first, but this has proved easier said then done...somehow I used to find the time to train that may of you do, so I know it is doable, but... Well, I'm at least getting in the Sunday group rides. Both boys are doing baseball and the block that their field is loctaed on is almost exactly 1 mile around, so I'm gonna start running it during the practices. That's this week's goal.

I think another ride would provide benefits but make it one of Jorge's intensity work outs. Just pick one of the ones you aren't planning to complete this week and go for it. The sit bones seem to be the worst on the trainer. I can ride far longer outside than on the drainer. Sometimes I am ready fro the weather to break around here sooner rather than later because I want to ride outside. Then another part of me enjoys the intense focus the trainer invites and the fitness gains that come with the focus. I do have to say that I don't miss the wind AT ALL while riding on the trainer. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm a member of Linkedin, but never use it. Is it something you find helpful in your professional life? Social life? Will, nice job getting that 2 hour trainer ride in. They can be monotonous and boring and yes your sit bones can hurt from sitting in one spot for that long. I did my 2 hour ride outside yesterday. It was chilly, in the 30's, but not much wind. For some reason my legs felt smoked the whole time. I'll have to upload my data to see what it looked like when I finish up my longer run this morning. Tracy, congrats again on a great race! Can't wait to see what the actual times were, but I'm sure you killed it. Doesn't it feel awesome to finish a race knowing you put everything you had into it? Nice work! Jackie, I think you are on the right track. Health and family should be top priority. It's great that you are getting your long bike rides in. Do your best to get those runs or even a solid brisk walk in as well. Anything to get that heart pumping. Remember to keep dedicated to eating healthy too. I'm heading out for my long run. Hope everyone has a great Sunday! |

Your plan sounds like an amazing use of time. That's a great idea! To bad I can't use that plan for any of my training. My non-athletic, high school daughter with a car wouldn't need me to be there to drop her off or pick her up. Then there's my college age daughter who is never home and doesn't report her goings on much anymore. For your goal: Just plan on one trip around each practice this week. Walking or running. No pressure to do run! Just get moving and see where it leads. Remember, no pressure! You got this! |
