Pro 4608 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Team Vixen - Dec. Limiter Challenge KOM - 2008-12-26 9:54 PM Evenin' vixens- Given everyone's scale experiences I can only conclude that there has been a sudden increase in the earth's gravitational field and it is best that I not weigh myself until the new year. Kristin- glad to hear that your ear is better. For those experienced runners I need advice: I am looking at runnning plans. Hyannis (2/22/09) will be my first half. Several of the programs have the maximum long run at10 miles. Is this long enough or should I use a program that has a 12 mile longest run. I am nervous but also don't want to do too much and risk getting injured. I am babying my knees as it is. If you do the build up properly, no more than 10% per week, I think you will be fine with a 12-miler. My sister recently did her first half and used the run/walk approach and did a 12. It's good to get it in if you can so the race will feel like something you're already familiar with. But if your knees are acting up and you need to be cautious, just do 10 or 11 and you'll be good. The energy of race day will carry you through! Toppage, it's been awhile! Edited by LazyMarathoner 2008-12-26 10:06 PM |

TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: Team Vixen - Dec. Limiter Challenge LazyMarathoner - 2008-12-26 9:32 PM Is it possible I ate 9 pounds of food this week? Because that's what I gained! Ugh. I feel utterly disgusting. It's going to be drastic measures when I get back to NY. No more excuses!!! it is impossible that you gained 9 lbs in a week - you would have had to have consumed 31,500 calories over and above what you would normally eat to maintain your weight - probably just lots of water retention start pumping in lots of water to flush out your system |

I'm definitely not experienced and I had the same question since the plan I'm using has a max run of 10 miles - I have bad knees as well That seems to be the case for most of the novice plans (I definitely qualify as a novice ) - anyhoo, the person that recommended it to me used it for his first 1/2 mary, he said the race day energy carried him through the last part of the race fwiw, it's been working really well for me, and I feeel really confident that I'll be able to do the distance when the time comes tomorrow I do an 8 miler |

I really need to start running more than my standard 4 miles and I need to register today.

Pro 4608 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Team Vixen - Dec. Limiter Challenge Howdy Vixens. Hope everyone is having a happy Saturday. I woke to loud thunder and rain, which confirmed I wouldn't be running today. So I headed off to the aquatics center and got in a nice 2000y swim. It felt pretty good, but was a bit rough given the break I had to take for my ear. I'm only 1 swim away from 100% of goal now! |

Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: Team Vixen - Dec. Limiter Challenge ok - so I made my dinner, poured some wine and am watching Sleepless in Seattle. Scared to admit it....Have I become one of the vixen chicks???? I can't wait for my ironman training to start. I'm just lost without a definite plan. It starts Monday by the way. My doc taped up my knee yesterday and actually I think that's doing some good - it doesn't seem to have that slight bit of swollenness to it today. Thinks are looking up... |

Anyway, I have been trying to watch what I eat yesterday and today. I did really well today until tonight. I was sooooo hungry I was starting to feel sick. So, I ate everything around. Pizza and pasta. Ugh. Not the best choice. Oh well, tomorrow is another day, right? |

Too much ice for you? I know when I am staying with family, I can only last a few days before I am ready to head home. |
