Sounds great, Meggan! Good luck! My first is in 2 weeks, and I can't wait.

So, I just volunteered to organize my tri club's cottage weekend. Apparently, the schedule includes a 3k OWS on the Saturday morning followed by breakfast and a long bike ride, and a 5k OWS on Sunday. That seems like a LONG time to be swimming! But, I guess it'll tell me if I can make an IM swim cut off at my current level of fitness! haha

chichitao - 2011-06-23 7:51 AM Fun!  How do you feel?

I am just nervous about the bike.  I went out for a final ride this morning.  My garmin is still on my bike but it was almost 10 miles.  I woke up a little later than I wanted to and I had to get home so John could get to work.  He was already going in an hour later so I could get a ride in.

I have not done any group rides since getting the clipless pedals so I am nervous about that. I rode this morning and felt better. There is one light that I turn right and go straight up a hill. I did this a few weeks ago and had to come to a complete stop at the light because of traffic. I could not get clipped in and up the hill so I had to do the walk of shame up the hill. Today I had no problem clipping in and getting up the hill from a stop.  So I feel better about that.  I just hope I don't have to stop at all!  I do think the course is pretty hilly.

Sunglasses, wetsuit (?), something to munch on before/after the race, something to put on after the race so you don't get your car sweaty and stinky :P

The rule that I have always heard about wetsuits is that if they are legal, then wear them.  You will always make up more time wearing them then the little time lost getting the wetsuit off.  Then again, it is one more thing to carry/pack/put on/deal with at the race.

Sunglasses, nutrition, change of clothes, 2nd towel, spare goggles...

BT has a checklist that is pretty cool and includes a lot of other stuff.

It was great!!  So much fun and a great race.  I will post more tonight or tomorrow.  We just got down to the beach and trying to get settled.  We are here until the 5th now!!

I printed out a check list and guess what...I forgot to pack my goggles!  I had both pairs pulled out of my swim bag and sitting on the washing machine and left them there.  I joked around that I made a rookie mistake but the club president said no rookie would make that mistake because they would be checking their bag 30 times!

Meggan, have you done a race report yet?

Weigh in time. Again, didn't have a great weekend, what with Friday being a holiday and me wanting to celebrate. But stayed at 181. Kinda disappointed as I had a couple of really good workouts this weekend, but considering what I ate, not the end of the world. this week will be clean, until the weekend, again, as I'm heading to my girlfriend's cottage for a huge family Canada Day thing, which involves a lot of beer and a lot of food. Good food, but food. I'm going to be as good as possible, though. Also, with how much I plan on working out this week, it'll be good!

How was everyone's weekend?

I had a good weekend as well.  Did a group ride yesterday and it felt great.  It was just one of those rides when everything seemed to be "on" and I felt really strong.  I was pulling part of the group along for miles and ended up pulling away from them.  Even with them doing a paceline  and we were riding into a strong headwind, they couldn't catch me.  It was fun and a good mental boost for me.

My weight is doing well too.  I had 2 cheat meals this weekend but overall I've been eating right.  These 1.5-2hr bike rides 3x a week isn't hurting either.  Came in at 205.4 today, down 9lbs since the 1st!

I've also got a big Independence Day party I'm attending this Sat with a bunch of old friends.  There will be beer, lots and lots of beer.  Gotta be especially good during the week this week.

Happy Monday!

I had an incredibly busy and great weekend, including a very wet climb up the Grouse Grind on Saturday morning, but took 14 minutes off my time from last week. Also did a lovely sunday run around the stanley park seawall that finished at the finish line of a half marathon that a friend was doing, so we timed our run to finish close to when she would complete and cheered her in, then went for coffee on the beach and watched the waves in the sunshine.

No change in weight this week, but I did indulge in a couple of Very dirty martini's that are high in salt so there could be some water weight in there...I'll check again towards the middle of the week.

Wednesday I am going to have some minor surgery on my left shoulder, which I hope will heal enough by friday to allow me to run in the Canada Day 8K with Lauren, but I don't think I will be doing any yoga and TRX till next week.

Glad to see everyone doing so well.  Way to go Meggan on your Tri, did you manage to borrow some goggles for the race?  Look forward to reading the race report.  Tim, excellent work on the weight loss and those long rides!  Pete, enjoy the Canada Day weekend and drink a glass of water for every beer you drink, that will keep you hydrated and feeling a little bit fuller so you may not indulge in as much of the "bad" food.   AND work out extra hard this week and next:-P

Wow, where has the time gone?  I've been kinda crazy busy for some reason lately.  I had a paper due on Friday, so I had to get that done, then Friday night Ryan's co-worker (who happens to be an awesome, sponsored cyclist) offered to give us a little bike workshop.  Sunday, we drove down to Chicago for a party, and then my baby cousin came to visit Monday and Tuesday.  And now that the World Cup is on, I've got lots of games to watch!

Anyway, I just can't bring myself to weigh-in right now.  I'm getting really down about this knee thing.  The PT released me to bike, but I can only spin really slowly for like 45 min. max.  I've done it a couple times, and felt good, but it's not much of a calorie burn going 12mph!  I can only eat right so much!  We're not so positive that I'm going to get better any time soon.  Yay.

Congrats on the weight loss though, and the race Meggan!  Anybody have fun weekends planned ahead?

My weigh chart for the month of June!  You know, as you are going through it you have your ups and downs but when looking at the bigger picture it looks much better.  Down 10.6lbs for the month.  Will go back up some this weekend though.

Well, look at the stud! :P

Awesome job! It's amazing what a proper diet can do for you. Once again, a huge inspiration, Tim!

So I packed my bag for my triathlon last night. Thing is, My race isn't until next week. I'm going to my cottage, though, and thought I'd bring my stuff so I don't have to worry about it. But I know that I'm going to be stressed all week, since I won't know exactly what I have brought, and what I am probably going to forget! I went through all checklists I could find, though, and I think I got everything! Fingers crossed.

That has been by far the biggest thing.  I am not working out any more than I used to.  Actually I am working out fewer times per week, but my time is increased due to the consistent longer bike rides.  It really helps when you have a partner on the same diet goals as you are.

Eager beaver there Pete.  Never seen anyone pack a week ahead of time, but at least no one can say you aren't prepared!  Just don't leave your goggles on the washer/dryer!  Sorry Meggan, had to go there. Innocent

Meggan-congrats on your tri! Loved reading your race report and living through you!

Pete-You are going to do great next week. Have a great time this weekend.

Tim-Awesome job on the weight loss!

My goal for this weekend is to relax and not do much. My birthday is tomorrow so my family is coming over tonight to play games. Tomorrow we are going to a minor league baseball game, sunday we have a dinner bbq and monday is my families big celebration. A lot to do, but in between I want to relax, no cleaning, no laundry, nothing. Hope I get to do that. I have been so OCD about things lately!

Happy Birthday, Debbie!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

I had a realization yesterday...  now that it's July, I leave for Portland NEXT MONTH.  In about 48 days to be exact.  *cue mini freak-out*

Which just makes me upset because I was hoping to be 10 pounds lighter by then, but I don't think it's going to happen without being able to do anything but a few short bikes!  At the same time, I'm so excited to go.  AHHHH! Ok, I have to go find a place to live...
