givemashot - 2008-09-26 1:59 PM Depends on which reservoirs. I hear some people really like to go up through emigration canyon, over Big Mountain pass to East Canyon Reservoir, then back.

Uh...that sounds like too much work...

What is that, like a 40 mile round trip?

Something like that.  I know of cars that don't make it over that pass. I know I won't be able to make it up there for a while yet. Like a few years.

Tandem...with a stronger cyclist...

And maybe a triple front ring...

givemashot - 2008-09-26 2:05 PM It's weird because the Garr ranch out there was apparently one of my ancestors. I can't imagine living out there, even though it is beautiful.

No trees.  After growing up in PA and living in MI and MN, I don't think I could live anywhere that doesn't have trees.

Actually, there are trees by the ranch. There's a spring there. Which is why Brigham Young sent settlers to the island. That and the church herds.

Yeah, you could just remove the 2 bigger rings and save on the weight.

We came down into SLC through Emmigration Canyon about 11pm at night with construction going on.  It was scary in a CAR!

Sorry.  Correction.  We came down I-80.  There was construction all the way from the top of the pass dwon to 215.

I'm a lousy post padder, but I am over 100% on bike as of today...and I will easily hit swimming (if I can drag my sorry butt to the pool) and strength...running will be a bit of a challenge, but if nothing else, I can drag it up with the others.

Ah, yes. Emigration is north of Parley's (I-80). Remember the reservoir you passed about half way to SLC? Emigration comes out on the west side of that, then you go north to Big Mountain. And up.

Yay Kristen! Keep it up, you can do it. There's a nice glass of red at the finish line for you! Or maybe it will be a white zin (my personal favorite).

No, no, no. Emigration is much more narrow, winding, and darker, of course. And it comes into SLC by the zoo. Rar.

October trip didn't work out.  Couldn't get tickets for less than $250.

Probably not until next April.
