pdbman - 2010-03-24 2:25 PM I may be doing some late night training again.  They made some program changes to the existing program that didn't include the changes that I just made so I had to go back and redo my changes.  Now I get to test it again.

Uuuuuuh, what? You lost me on that one, Paul!!

pdbman - 2010-03-24 11:20 AM Just read Pirate Girl's XTERRA Saipan race report on her blog. Sounds amazing. I had no idea the XTERRA series was such a big deal. I knew we had one locally but had no idea what it was really about. I'll have to keep it in mind for the future.

Actually, your local one in Park City, is the Nationals Championship.

Yeah, one in Park City and one in Ogden. I heard that the one is Park City was the NC and thought that if they're having it here, it can't be that big of a deal. I thought it was just a handful of races, like 4 or 5, scattered in the west. Well today I checked the web site and its a little more than that. 65 races in 35 states and others around the world. oops. My mistake.

Paul - you have to do one!  They are a blast.

BTW - None of bEASTies even replied to your post - great job shutting them up!!

I just hope I didn't make them mad enough that they are all out there training. I want to keep our lead.

Nah 3% is a lot and one of our guys is going to be lowering swim because of injury and that will push him to 100% so we should be good to go - I am planning on 105% on all 4 areas Lord Willing and If the Creek Don't Rise - man I am losing it

3% is a lot...but don't count your chickens too fast...

ooohh...that reminds me...I need to add todays run to the spreadsheet...

*giggling for no apparant reason* I just did the same exact thing...remembered that I needed to update the spreadsheet!

Are there any ideas for a April challenge?  April is going to be an exciting training month for me as make one last hard push in training before my May Olympic tri.

Also, the sun is starting to rise earlier, and set later...which means longer times to train...=)

Yeah, it is GREAT to get up and be able to run in somewhat light!!! Plus, I love running during that time of day when you can literally see day breaking!

Run goal is at 50%, but it was conservative so I just need to get two more runs in before the month is over.

Hey Melissa! We were just wondering where you were!?
I was helping out at my folks.  I was also feeling a bit drained/overwhelmed and didn't feel up to chatting.

I finally made it back to the gym.  I have been spending too much time at my folks and ended up a bit overloaded by the high stress levels.  I plan on actually going home tonight for a good nights sleep in my own bed.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-24 1:28 PM I have a funny owl story:  I am full of them today!

At our old house we had a side yard that had no grass at all so I tilled it up, prepped it for sod and got a load of sod delivered.  All of sudden the neighbors are coming out and looking over at our house.  I was like what are they doing?  Why are they checking my butt out?  (They were kind of strange! and yes I have a nice butt )  I go ask my wife what is going on - the neighbors are checking me out.  All of sudden there is a huge owl on a stump about 10' away from me.

And I thought it was my butt!

Hey where is Melissa???????
Um, bill...are you saying that I am in some way associated with your butt????

Hey where is Melissa???????

I've been thinking the same thing...I'm going to check on her when I'm done playing catch up!
well I slept in, and then got discouraged and took a nap, went to an appointment, ran some errands, went to the gym...

Just because I don't have school or a real job right now doesn't mean that I spend all my time online...jeez.

How long have you been doing tris?

I did my first triathlon fathers day of 2008

What got you into triathlon-ing?

My best friend Maneesh was invited to do a tri by one of U of Rochester buddies, Dave.  Dave knew that I was good friends with Maneesh and extended the invitation to me.  I did my first sprint tri with almost no training...and for some reason I actually enjoyed it!

What are your goals this year?

Get good about training regularly, run an entire half mary, do a century ride, do a 3k OWS, and do a HIM this fall.

What's your favorite tri sport?

Currently it is the bike...I like to look at the scenery as it goes by.  I picked up a habit from my arboriculture class in 2008...I do 'significant tree observations'.  We had to come to class every week with observations we had made.  I was a terrible driver while I took that class.  I was always looking at the trees instead of the road.  Thankfully I didn't have any accidents or near accidents.  My friends still tease me about how I am always commenting on trees I see.

What's your least favorite tri sport?

Running.  I know that I have the potential to be quite fast (I use to have a sub 6 minute mile), but I need to take it really slow right now because of my tendency towards injury.

Current challenges/obstacles?

Building my running base without injuring myself.  Also having $$$ for equipment and event costs.

What's your favorite part about training for tris?
The community I have here on BT, the endorphins, getting fitter, the looks people give me when I tell them I do triathlon...

Funny story...I was working on the arboretum crew at school last year and one of the instructors was talking about the importance of getting all the supplies and tools together before you started working on stuff.  He reinterated the point with 'It isn't like any of you are training for a triathlon and need the extra exercise of running back and forth for tools'.  I chuckled at that and later sidled up to him and said 'Hey, you know...I actually am a triatlete...'

What's your least favorite part?

Having to select and limit events based on cost.  The only reason I can race is because I currently don't have to pay rent and have some scholarships for school.
