Please be honest with me, if you were in my situation, would you do the tri on Sunday?

Yes, I would. But that isn't to say that it is a good idea... I'm just stubborn.

You're talking to a bunch of triathletes... I think we all can hear the battle!

Last year, I did a race the day after a doc told me not to... and still haven't gotten checked out for what she said I should... I should probably get on that!

I would have to say that I would probably do it too, I finished my Tri last year with a blown out calf at the 3KM marker of the 10K run...as Pete says we are a bit of a stubborn bunch.  Can't say how many times my husband has been told not to run anymore, he has no ACL and apparently has arthritis in his knee too and he is doing IM this year, we find ways to make it happen, sometimes it takes a little while to find out what it is we need to make it happen, but Erica is doing that right now too.

For the race this weekend, go with what you feel, we do know our bodies better than anyone, you know the right answer for yourself.

Honestly, if I paid money to race, I am going to race.  And Sandra's advice is right on...only you know how your body feels and responds.  So push if/when you can and back off if you need to.

I don't think one race is going to make things any worse.

And I have two coming up!  I have a sprint this Sunday and another one the 31st.  The 31st I really want to do because some of John's college buddies are doing it too.

If my race had been as close as yours is to your injury, I totally would have pushed through the pain and done it!  Unfortunately, mine was still 2 months away!  I say go for it, so long as you're not hurting TOO bad.

I WILL be running 0.5 miles tomorrow.  Wish me luck!

I'm pretty sure that my wetsuit helped me drop about a minute or more off of my swim from last year in my race... But get some practice in it! I didn't find the body glide helped all that much, but who knows, maybe it did! haha.

DO NOT FORGET YOUR GOGGLES.

I also need to pack tonight.  We will head to the beach tomorrow after work and the tri is the next island over from our house.

Oh and I have been having car problems and it was back at the shop this morning.  It has been determined the problem is electrical and is under warranty.  The dealership can't get me in until Tuesday.  No problem, right? Ummm....I am 500 miles under warranty so my van will be parked in my driveway this weekend just to be safe.  We had planned on buying a bike rack for John's car but not today like I ended up doing.

Wow, everyone has been super busy! So wish I could be racing this summer, but next summer I will.

Meggan, I hope your race goes good! Hang in there with the foot pain.

I have been enjoying the week of quiet since my daughter stayed in Chicago this week with Grandma and Grandpa. I got the baby's room ready and have just been relaxing, which is nice. I did a late body step this morning and am going to do another one tomorrow and saturday. Getting a lot harder to keep it all up. My goal is to make it another 5 weeks and then I will be 30 weeks.

Keep at it everyone!!!

Checking in on my phone from door county! It's beautiful up here. Ryan is sound asleep, getting ready for Sunday! Tim, thanks for the inspire on his wall! He was pumped on that! My run was weird, too! I ran a half a mile, and at .25, my knee got tight. No pain or soreness, just like I needed to oil the hinges. But my PT doesn't seem concerned. I was released to run like a mile this weekend! I'm very hesitant about it though. I don't want to get hurt worse! I am going to try for like a mile tomorrow though the state park that's right next to our hotel. Oh fun! Megan, good luck! Keep us posted on how it goes!

So how did everyone do this weekend with their races and workouts?

I didn't do so well.  But I gave blood on Sat so that had some effect on my lack of workouts.  We also had a fridge that decided to stop working so did a lot of last minute emergency shopping.  I also ate bad but somehow still came in at 204.8 today, down from 205.8 from last Mon.  So I am somehow still on track.

Weekend was great! Had a training weekend with my club up at a coach's cottage. Did a 3k OWS on Saturday morning... Kept up with the fastest people when I was able to draft, so that was awesome. Sighting was good, but I still can't swim straight. And I was in a wetsuit and they weren't, so it all made sense. The swim was great, but I started to overheat at the end.

After that, we did a 85-90k bike ride... through the hills of Quebec. THAT was tough. It was great, though, as it made me understand that I need to really do a lot of HIM training, because I would not have been able to run 21k after that. It was a HOT day, and we were going way too fast for the first, flat 45km for me to keep it up. But it was fun, despite not-so-quietly uttering some profanities as I saw the hills that were coming up.

Sunday was a 5k OWS, but I decided to paddle instead of swimming, because I was still exhausted from the bike.

All in all, it was a GREAT weekend, with awesome company! Hope you all had as much fun as I did.

It was a good weekend(aside from the torrential rains)  here.  Did the Grouse Grind again on Saturday morning, and took another 2 minutes off my time, inching my way closer to that under 1 hour goal I have for this year!  Yesterday was a nice 10KM run including a local bridge that has a very steep incline on one end and a longer steady incline on the other.  Our group has now started on our training program for a half marathon in October.

My weight is back on track this week and headed in the direction is should be going, down.  Not a ton, but I'll take whatever I can get,  1/2 lb this morning and since I had a little more salt than usual last night, I wouldn't be surprised if I am retaining some water.

Now I wait to hear about the results of races this weekend.  Meggan, how was your race and how did you fair with your foot?  Erica, how did Ryan do?

This weekend was CRAZY.  Just insane.  In 100*+ heat, Ryan completed his first HIM in 6:00:3x.  He was aiming for under 5:30, but competitors were dropping like flies in the heat.  He still ended up being 25/63 in his AG and like 250ish for all guys, and 300ish OA (out of 1000).  He talked to another guy who finished in about the same time as him, and the guy said he usually does HIMs in UNDER 5 hours, and the race was harder than anything he'd ever done before because of the heat!  Ouch.

As much as I wanted to be on that course yesterday, I would have suffered in that heat.  It probably would have taken me at least 7:30 to finish, if not more.  I was melting as a spectator!  After the race, we went to grab dinner with his family, and he took the keys to go lay in the car because he wasn't feeling well.  About 30 seconds later, the host comes up to us to say "Um, just so you know, your friend is laying outside on the sidewalk..."  He had some heat exhaustion and was in rough shape, so we got him cooled off enough to get him to the car with the air on full blast, and I took him home.  He's okay now, but we were worried for a while!  I'm super proud of him, but can't wait to do my own now.

Door County was lots of fun, too!  We had a great mini-vacation, our first one since our honeymoon!

I did get a run in on Saturday, and I went about 1.4 miles!  My PT wants me to push the distance, but not the speed.  It took me like 15 minutes, but that's okay.  It started to get a little painful, so I backed off a bit, and the second I stopped, I was fine.  I'm hoping to get out again either tonight or tomorrow night to see how it goes, but I'm still not sure I'm ready to do too much.  I'm super nervous about it.

I'll weigh myself eventually.  I hate that darn scale.
