Pro 4482 NJ | Subject: RE: Run your azz off in July Ghoulies!!! I have a confession to make. I like the TdF. I watch the TdF, but catch it when I can....Versus plays it all day long. I think Andy is classy and Alberto an a$$. (here comes the confession part...) I think the most interesting part of watching most of the TdF is the fans lined along the road. For example, 2 or so stages ago there was a guy running along in a full-body yellow neoprene suit, including his head. Not sure what that was about, but gotta respect his enthusiasm. I also am relieved when they don't run into any of the riders. Edited by kcarroll 2010-07-20 12:35 PM |

I watched Kona last year for 5 hours streaming online. I watched the Giro d'Italia for the first time this year and this is the second or third TdF I've followed closely. I can see how some people find these boring to watch, but I love it. Plus, it's good to have sites like this so I know I'm not alone |

So unless it's big drama, I find it hard to sit still and watch. That is true really for most tv for me. I have about a 30 min attention span, max. (Kona being the exception. I could, and do, watch it over and over and over again.) I AM an event junkie. I love going to sporting events, even those sports I don't play or follow. I have a friend who works at a company that has a box at the Islanders. I saw lots of hockey last year. Quite a few years back, I worked on a product that was a corporate sponsor for a PGA Tour pro. I had my own tour pass and went to a lot tourney's along the east coast. Loved it. Even though I don't play and I can't bring myself to watch on tv. |

For example, I can't watch car racing on TV but I'd go and watch dirt track races anytime. Heck, the same thing applies to music. There's just something about seeing music played live that always gets me going, even if I don't necessarily like the band that much. |

It's fun to get out and go to the games though. My husband would have a heart attack if he knew what I spent on tickets a few years ago to go to the Penn State/Notre Dame game. I LOVE ND, and have wanted to see them play forever. Our seats were in the third row, the team came out of the tunnel right beside us, it was great. Notre Dame lost, but the one touchdown they scored was right in front of us. I had a blast that day. |

About 5 years ago I bought tickets to take my nephews to a Yankees/Redsox game for their b'days. Plus their sister, mom, dad and me. AND, since my car seats 5 max and taking the train was too complicated with 5 in tow, I rented a limo. The game went to extra innings, 14 total I think. My sister kept trying to leave because the limo was by the hour. No f'ing way were we going to leave that game. Yankees won. The boys still talk about that night. And I love the local farm teams. Those are a blast! It's the Somerville Patriots here. Edited by kcarroll 2010-07-20 1:26 PM |

Apparently we are doing a tri together in Banff in Sept. He's doing the sprint...hes not exceptionally excited with only getting to do a 13km ride and 5km run, but I convinced him that drowning in a lake was probably a bad decision because he can handle a 500m swim and not a 1500m swim. I think he registered last night. Well he sent me a text about it anyways. Yeah... drowning would really be a downer. I heard that 9 out of 10 doctors recommend not drowning. Uh... what's up with the 10th doctor? He drowned and couldn't comment. |
