Went out for a good solid hill climbing ride with a friend today. I did not struggle with the pedals and now am ready to hit my biking hard. My first Tri will have a killer hill in it. Glad to have the confidence back for the bike and I was OUTSIDE!!! But tomorrow bad weather moving in for a day or two.

abqtj - Sorry about your dad - positive thoughts coming your way!! I hope it is nothing. I know with my own cancer that I am terrified of recurrence and mine was metastatic from the start!

jarvy - what tri shorts/top do you have?

Absolutely wear tri clothing, that is what it is made for to slice trough water and dry quickly.  I wore just that for Muncie last year cuz it was too warm for a wetsuit.  Plus, you can move alot more freely without a wetsuit, however, a little slower.

I heard the race was great today Kelly.  If I didn;t have my TT tomorrow, I would have run it.  Good luck tomorrow in the HM.

Just an easy 45 minute spin done this morning on the trainer before tomorrow's TT.  Then had to go to field cleanup for the local Little League.  Thankfully my son is in Tee Ball, and the field is small!!!!

Where is everyone today?

I just got in a from a run. My HR went nuts near the end. Not sure if it was because of the uphill, wind, sweating more than normal, or what...but it's a route I run regularly.

1st ever Oly was today.  I'm a bit bummed by my performance.  Size of the waves coming in on the swim caught me a little by surprise.  Had a one man wreck on the bike trying to avoid having a multi person wreck.  Went from running a 7:30-7:45 mile to running a 8:30 minute mile at about mile three and then once we turned into the wind a 10ish minute mile.  Blah.  Well the good news is I know where I need to improve.  I had debated taking next week off from training, but this performance is gonna make me want up at 4:30 to start pushing again.

Congrats on your first Oly!! It sounds like you had a good experience and learned where to focus!  Next time you will know! I bet you did great and you're just being hard on yourself! Congrats again!

Had my MTB TT today.  My class was supposed to go off at 11:30, but that got postponed until 12:00.  So much for a warm up.  I was plenty cooled down by the time we started.  It was wicked windy at the start, but got pretty warm once I took off.  i was very happy with my finish, as I had a goal of sub 40 mins.  Finished 38:38.

The course was not overly technical, but there were some pretty nasty rock gardens in just a few areas.

Here is what frustrates me.  They have been doing this for a long time, and do a great job with it, plenty of volunteers etc, so I won't ever be the jerk to complain, as I know how much work goes into it.  The frustrating part, is the accuracy of the finish times.  We take off individually, 30 seconds apart.  I finished 14th out of 55 riders in my group, pretty happy about that.  BUT, I passed the two riders to go off before me, number 125 and number 126, (remember they start 30 seconds each, before me).  I passed them pretty quickly into the course and never saw them even close to me again.  Somehow, they both finished 3 minutes before me on the time sheet.  How does that happen?  It also happened to my friend Matt.  He passed the guy that started 30 seconds before him, finished at least a minute ahead, and the guy placed 2 spots higher than him.  I am not a believer in their timing system.

Sorry for venting.  Either way, had a great day, and was happy with my finish.  Nothing broke on me, or the bike.  That's a good day.

Nice going with the TT, Rizer...I think something that out of whack with the timing would warrant being mentioned to whoever organizes it for sure. That's not a small difference to me.
