Nice...I had my longest ride ever yesterday, as well. I went about 28 miles...around Mercer Island twice! I planned on going once, but it felt so easy that I left my fiancee and did it again.

WOW! That must have been SOME ride in order for you to leave your fiancee!!

lyssa-gator - 2008-08-04 8:23 PM  i bought a wetsuit last year, and i swim in it at the lake here where i live, but my problem has been that when it's cold i can't seem to catch my breath, and it feels like my wetsuit is choking me, then if i float on my back it seems like it's even harder to breathe. here at my lake, i swim next to the log thing that is supposed to keep the bigger waves from rocking the boats at the dock (don't know what that log thing is called LOL) so if i have trouble, i can always hang on that. what do the swim angels do exactly? i mean are we talking about canoes? or people who actually swim with you? or just people hanging out in the water in case someone has trouble?? this is the first time i've even heard of it. honestly, i feel kind of ridiculous, but if i can just get through the swim, i'm pretty sure the REST of my race is gonna go great! LOL

The key for me was getting the crotch of the wetsuit up as far as possible.  You may have to pull up more on the legs.  Also keep working the wetsuit up your torso so that you have more play up by your shoulders.  Here, I'll let a pro explain it...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsHw_TkFEdE

thanks sal, that video actually helped a lot. there was another one on there once i got on, of i don't know like T1 voulenteers--did you see it? i WISH!! they come running up out of the water, yank their arms out and sit down, then T1 helper line people yank the legs off!!! geez!! that would pull a good 3 minutes off my T1 time!!! nice.
i might have to catch a quick swim this morning now, to try it out-the putting on thing, not the pulling off thing. LOL

YAY LYNNE!!! no more stictches!!! HOORAY!!! i'm so glad! now get your butt out there and swim/bike/run!!!

rach--that's pretty much what i was riding until VERY recently too, so i can totally sympathize with the poor guy.

AND last but not least, i tried putting on my wetsuit like that video suggested (thank you again sal) and it was A LOT better. i swam-i'm still a rotten swimmer, but at least i'm not choking on my wetsuit anymore LOL.

i was thinking about what 700 yards might look like, and i got pretty wigged out, but whatever, i'll survive, then i'll kick a$$ at the bike and run LMAO!!

Lyssa, I know you are worried about the swim, but seriously, Danskin is really different from all other triathlons.  YOU ARE NOT ALONE out there.  Once you see the set up, the angels, the lifeguards you'll be like...ahhhh. I feel ok   You are going to do SO well. I just know it.

Okay - I think I'm caught up with this thread! Whew! You guys are too much.

Word of caution...

WEAR SUNSCREEN!!!!

Went to the doctor today - no biggie but I thought it was going to be because he kept coming back to this spot on my arm! I've got a follow-up with dermatology but he says it looks like it is NOT cancerous.

Now, let's get busy with this challenge!

I swam!

Me too!  And I ran.  Now I have to get up early tomorrow and get on my bike.  It's been Sunday since I've gotten in a ride - my bike is starting to look all sad and lonely.

I missed my bike ride home from work since it was pouring and lightning (which is what I was really concerned about).  I will get another run in tomorrow since I decided to run my Physical Fitness Test (PFT).  I am not sure how I will do, but I figure I might as well get it knocked out of the way.  I really need to step it up in all areas though, I am really slipping from my goal schedule.  Oh well, it's all for fun anyways, the health aspect is a bonus.

The Commandant of the Marine Corps was at my unit today.  It was interesting to hear him speak since he is for all intents and purposes the CEO of the Marine Coprs.  He has very strong views and a stronger personality.  He actually chewed out the base commander for the things he was doing to the Marines on the base.  Needless to say the Air Force Base Commander is not happy with any Marine right now.  Wish I could have seen it happen.

Gotta look out for that lightning!  We had crazy storms here this morning with lots of lightning.  Some lady here at work actually got struck by lightning!  Just walking into the plant site and ZAP!  Crazy!

I actually managed a run.  If my toe was 100% I'd be scared of my actual minute per mile tonight. I lost my STUUUUUPID Ipod censor! I am so pantsed about that.  But. I held back with the nutella.

I haven't had any Nutella for about a week. Almost caved last night, though.

Sorry for the absence - sick as a dog was how I started my August Challenge.

It's the 6th now & I'm finally ready to GO!

But...I'm minutes & miles behind.

Watch your mirrors - I'll be catching up!

Good luck!

I had a lot of fun last night at the game...so much in fact that I overslept and didn't hop on my bike as planned. I have a graduation ceremony for the ladies that are in my running club tonight...going to try to jump on the bike when I arrive home!

Wetsuit 'strippers' are pretty standard for most Ironmans...some day I'll do an IM and get to take advantage of the strippers...(that didn't sound right...)...
