Haha, I ask myself the same question about Illinois!

On the plus side, it does motivate you to keep moving.  You don't want to stand still for too long when it's 20 degrees and windy.Smile

I'd give just about anything to be where it's 60 degrees and sunny.  Sounds like beach weather to me.

It's funny how you acclimate to the environment you're in.  There were times when I'd walk around in jeans, a tshirt, and a light jacket in 10* weather when I lived in Alaska.  Now, I cry when it falls below 75*

abake - 2009-01-08 4:40 AM Morning NUGs! What's on the slate for today?  I have a group run tonight in Washington Park.

My plan was to go to the Y, do some weights and try another light & easy ride.  I succeeded.  I did 30 min on the stationary with low resistance.  Kept the HR below 130.  The lungs felt okay, not great.  I am so ready to feel good again.

I think I've gone about 2 weeks without doing much and that's too long.  I'm out of the routine.  And it may sound weird but I have less desire to exercise than before getting sick.  Maybe it's 'cause it's harder during this recovery phase.  Probably once I get to where I'm able to push myself more that addiction feeling will return.

NUGs!  That made me chuckle!

I managed to get in an outdoors ride and got all muddy since it rained last night.  Now, I am NOT complaining ~ there's something about biking/running and sloshing thru the puddles and getting dirty...it makes it more fun!   I have no clue what the distance was since my training plan called for time (40 min) so I didn't map out an actual route.  My hubby is off today so I'm hoping I can talk him into going to the pool with me and videotaping me ~ if not today then hopefully sometime this weekend.

Is this one of your "fun" runs that include a certain frozen drink at the end?

It is always harder to get into working out when you don't feel 100% and when you know you can't push yourself like you normally would/could.  Just keep doing what you can and the desire will return.  Even if it doesn't, you have us to answer to so that's always good for a push if nothing else!

Happy day!  more snow tonite, and calling for up to 5 more inches tomorrow! Maybe I can start running in snowboots.  At least it will be good for sledding this weekend.  Taking my scouts camping for the weekend.  There is a great sled hill in the camp.  Can't wait for that.  I hope that I can still get in my runs for my challenge.  Not exactly an ideal area to run in, though I could do trails for time if they are passable.  (I have no idea mileage there and no gps to take with me Smile) Guess we'll see when we get there.

Keep training while I'm gone!

Nice job! Splashing through the puddles and getting muddy is kind of like being a kid all over again.

Oh FUN mud can be a lot of fun...as long as its not the first time you are wearing a new fairly expensive technical shirt (that happened to me this summer)  I was having a great time in the puddles until I realized what my back must look like   Thank goodness for Tide with bleach

I'm gonna try and take a walk outside today.  Not up for running yet and we'll see how the cold air affects my lungs.

Knock on wood, we're not getting any snow here, it's just cold and windy. I am ready for spring.

Thank goodness for Tide with bleach

Does that stuff work pretty well on technical fabrics? I use Woolite for my running clothes but have some favorites that are getting kind of worn out and nasty and have been a little hesitant about using bleach, I remember so many laundry disasters from the days before the bleach was actually premixed with detergent.

So in general I use special sports wash stuff for my technical fabrics but in dire circumstances (ie a brand new shirt with a huge mud splatter up the back) I some times resort to the regular stuff.  They make a tide with "bleach alternative" ie color safe bleach that I feel does a pretty good job as far as stains.  As far as technical ability of the cloth well it seems to wick fine still, but I only washed it that way once.
