So, I attempted to reserve a van today. I think I might get it. Dulles didn't have any, and there is a request with BWI right now to see if they might have one available.

On the driver front, it sounds like we might have to roll with the punches on it. The lady informed that anybody else that might drive the vehicle needs to be present at pick-up, and needs to be a family member. So I will just pick it up, and probably do most of the driving to Cumberland, and then we'll see how it goes from there.

Our roster is full again, with James on the team, right?

Gotta run...
Shane

P.S: Christy, I'm still at the 9:00 min/mile pace for the 10k, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on that.

Hope everyone's training is going well.  With my back being an on and off issue this month has been less than stellar ..... but I got in over 200 miles last month.

Nice, now we just need to get you out on the track more.
Is it your upper back or lower?  Mine gives me trouble too.

Team -

Don't forget the team run/happy hour planned for Thursday August 20th.  We will meet at 5pm in the parking lot at my work off of Columbia Gateway Drive (click for map) and run 2-3 times around the loop depending on what you have planned for that day.  Then we can all head over to the Pub Dog in Columbia, MD at 6:15 pm.  If you need to use the restroom or get changed, I can let you into our building to use the restroom.  If you can’t make it for the run, you can just come to the happy hour at 6:15.

We have a lot to talk about and coordinate!!

Hey guys, doesn't look like my crew is going to be able to leave DC in time to make the run, we'll see you all at the Happy Hour.

Lower back.

Went to my wife's chiropractor today.  Did a bunch of adjustments and going back there on Monday.

But was able to get 8 in yesterday and a 12 today.  Tomorrow is a scheduled recovery run so I'll be able to take it easy on the loops with everyone.  See you guys then!

James will be there running and Andy will be showing up late (and going the other way around the loop).  So that's at least 4   We should have a good turnout for the happy hour though (and be nice and dehydrated and in need of multiple beers quickly Wink)

Hope you guys are having a beer for me -- I'm in an airport hotel business center in Indianapolis... logging the VBall-pwnin run I just did instead of heading to the lobby bar to drink alone.

Let me know what I missed.  I'm assuming you're finalizing logistics like what we need to bring, where we're meeting, theme-ing up our outfits, etc.

Nah, we just drank beer and ate pizza and talked about the track World Championships.  Didn't talk at about how we were going to put everyone who didn't make it into the last row of each van and how they had to rub everyone else's feet while waving palm fronds to cool us down .........

Agreed!  It was way better than going to class Wink  Although I could have used several more beers...

Seriously we were able to get a handle on the logistics quite a bit more.  I need to update the contacts spreadsheet and send it out to everyone - I'll get to that at some point today hopefully.

Keep up the great runs everyone   We'll def have another happy hour probably the week before the relay.

Andy - let us know about your church vans!

'sup peeps?  You guys ready to spank this?

Are we gonna have one more team happy hour?

I've got lots of questions like where the heck we are meeting, when I have to be there, what I need to bring, when we are coming back, if and how are we participating in the decoratative elements of this race, who is going to perform my recovery massage if our fearless leader is running the leg after me, etc.

We definitely need to get together again.
I'm going to try and get a trail run in Saturday morning. You oculd make it a Ragnar training run.

Andy, I guess you got promoted from "Sub" status to "Active" for the Blue Ridge

Yes, we will have one more team happy hour for sure.

Here's a tentative schedule:

Friday, Sept 18th, 6pm Happy Hour at _________ (please suggest).

Friday, Sept 25th, 8:30am Christy & Shane pick up vans from BWI

Between 8:30 am and 9:30 am, vans make a stop in Glen Burnie area and a stop in Columbia area at people's houses where racers have gathered and can leave their cars overnight (TBD at next happy hour)

9:30 - 12:00 pm drive to Cumberland.

12:00 - 1:00 pm - check in and get ready for relay!

Friday Sept 25th 1:00 pm - This is our official start time.

Friday Sept 25 1:00 pm - Saturday Sept 26 4:00 pm (ish) - It's Ragnar Relay time!!!

Saturday evening - drive home and drop off everyone where their cars are parked.

If anyone has a better idea or suggestions on the schedule, let me know

I know I owe an updated contact list to everyone... I will get that to you soon.

So, does Friday Sept 18th 6pm work as a happy hour for everyone?  I'd like to the whole VA crew up here too...

Steve - if you want to open your trail run this weekend up as a training run, that'd be cool.  You should have the emails I sent out to everyone which has everyone's email on it if you just do a reply to all, you could announce it that way

I am scheduled to be out of town again ... although I am not sure if that is going to happen or not.  If I am in town, I'll be there for the run (arriving on my bike, of course Wink)

18th sounds good, however, please somwhere other than Pubdog.  Not real thrilled with the place.
I am still working on trying to get a van/s....proceed as is and if i can manage it, that will be money we wont have to spend later.
And yes,Steve, just as you twisted my arm for this....so has George wrangled me into the Blue Ridge relay.   lots of running for me in September....woohoo!

I'm doing Make-A-Wish oly. down in Bethany Beach, DE on the 20th and we may be leaving for the beach on that Friday as a family to make a weekend out of it (my Aunt-in-law has a place down there).  So Friday may not work for me.

But if I'm the bust and everyone else is fine with that day, you can just fill me in via e-mail or PM and still have the meeting.  As far as I can remember, I'm taking care of the Gu, Gu20 and Clif Bars.  I'll also pick up the fruit and bananas.

I am probably unable to make a HH on the 18th as well... going to Philly for the weekend - which will probably mean I'm put on probation with the team.  I do like the idea of meeting about a week before the race to allow last minute details to be worked out but still give time for logistics if neccessary.

I know Friday's are traditional happy hour days, but I'm a fan of drinking mid week too...

Like Rick, don't let me be the reason not to use this date if it's good for everyone else.

Steve I'll be at your run on Saturday.

I am off on the 18th, the 17th would work as well. Eddie is going to be out of town for the nex few weeks, and won't be back until like the 21st or 22nd, so we shouldn't count on her being able to make it, but I will check with Karen and Jimmy.

Otherwise, the schedule looks great, Christy. I will get things with the van buttoned up tomorrow. As for a location for the next HH, any good places to shoot pool up that way?

What about Thursday the 17th of Sept?  I'd like to get as many folks there as possible - especially those who have not made it to a HH yet.
