Nothing on tap for me today--- Thursday is my 'other' busy studio day with my students, so I use this and Tuesday and my rest days, not that I am actually 'resting'.

I mean, who actually rests on a rest day? For me they're the day(s) to get all the other stuff done that I can't do when I am training!

Ha! Well have a great day everyone, no matter what you are doing!

dcon - 2009-09-09 5:44 PM Good evening everyone - it's Thur morning for me.   Yesterday did go swimmingly - got in a nice workout in the evening.   I really wanted to run too, but legs were still feeling the effects of my bike ride on Tues.

Today I hope to get in that run and another swim.

GO DAN GO!

you can do it, yes you can!

Yes, I did it.  Appreciate the cheerleading Stacie.  Today's workouts were tough - feeling a little tired.   Tomorrow will either be a rest day or an easy bike day.    I've got a friend from the US visiting on Sat/Sun and expect to do a run with him on Sat.

my rest days are the same way, JEN.  busy busy.  usually reserved for running errands.

though tomorrow (my rest day) one of my errands is tri-trng-related.  i need to pick up a new tube (i gave someone mine...) and a need to get a CO2 cartridge.

for the group, is there a brand of CO2 that i should AVOID, or are they pretty much the same brand to brand....

suggestions?  recommendations?

sprints are totally FAB, JEN.  you'll enjoy yourself for sure....

i have the Cook Forest/MS ride 60 miles, though its not a race, it is an event, Sept 26

and i'm running The Great Race the next day, a 10K but just for training.

my 'real' race is coming up November 1st, a 1/2 MARY here in the Burgh.

alas, i did my run indoors.  booo.  hissss.

i went to the track and they were resurfacing.  a good thing, long term.

so i went to the Y, and did my intervals on the short/indoor track.

i shortened my intervals just a tad so that i didnt have to do as many corners.

OI!  they are super sharp/tight, and can really tear up your legs if your not careful.

no runners roulette at this stage of the game.  SO not necessary to take any chances....so shortened them i did.

i think ended up doing 8 rather 7.

its all good.  theyre done.  and my times are spot on.

they felt fast and smooth and i felt strong endurance-wise.  the last two pushed me, appropriately.

im right where i want to be at this juncture.  woot!

ONWARD!

So I have a question about "rest" days.  I do an interval type work out, either jog or bike, 3-4x a week.  On separate days, I do a core workout, 2-3x a week, and maybe an easy/medium cardio work out, trampoline/bike/or walking.  I consider these my "rest" days because my heart rate is not as pushed and neither is impact on my feet legs.  Am I misinterpreting "rest" day?

Good question!

As a general rule, you should take a day off each week to rest your body from any impact you have been subjecting it to.  Your "rest" days seem to be meeting the definition of a true rest day.  Interval type workouts are very hard on your body.  They should not be done more than once or twice a week.  The rest of the days should be endurance-type workouts.

Does this answer your question?

Does this answer your question?

Yes, this answers my question about rest days.  But now I am confused between interval and endurance workouts.  For intervals, I jog (or pedal faster) for my interval -- trying to push a little harder each interval.  After each interval I drop back to a fast walk or easier pedal pace until my wind & heart are recovered and then do another interval.
So if I do an endurance, is that a steady pace throughout?  That actually sounds much harder than interval workouts.

PS  -  Got my core session in today.  Yeah!!  Gotta go back to work now but maybe I will spend a little time on the rebounder tonight.
