in low 60's upper 50's, pollution factor looks scary!
.

Not sure exactly where you'll be swimming (for training), but  the area we swim at Pontchartrain beach is 49ppm of fecal coliform...well under the 200ppm dangerous level...I swam in it all last season while training for Ironman Florida, and never got sick.  It's actually clean by most standards, so the "pollution factor" is not "scary" at all...just sayin'.

wstchstrTriathlete - 2010-03-22 7:25 PM can anyone recommend a decent italian restaurant for dinner saturday night? I have no idea where to eat the night before the race!

Domenica is excellent - a John Besh restaurant.  For simple, cheaper good Italian in a nice outdoor setting, try Nonna Mia on Espalande.

blountds - 2010-03-25 10:06 AM Definitely try your adamo. If you still have perineum problems you are unfortunately not riding the saddle properly.

I have the Cobb V Flow Plus and it totally rocks...I tried 6 different saddles, including the Adamo, before settling on it.

As a veteran of the NOLA race, I can assure all you first-timers your gonna love it. Can't get any more flat of a race. I'm taking 5 folks back down this year (of all levels). This is my fav race out of the 20+ I have done in the last 3 years. Stop worrying about small stuff & enjoy the taper. And yes, it's gonna be HOT on the run-real HOT!!!! I had to adjust my race goal due to knee problems but can't wait to see all my training buddies bust out some crazy fast times & enjoy Bourbon Street on Sunday night.

No, but make sure to try some gator in one of the local restaurants!

Rained here (Baton Rouge about 45 minutes from NO).  Very warm and humid, lots of time for the weather to change but I sure hope it isn't this hot for the race!

Looking forward to race day! I did my last major brick on Saturday and now it's just time to taper. Is everyone ready to race?

you know the race is on your mind when you start having REALLY strange dreams, including when you show up to the race in your wetsuit but lacking a bike and wearing a race # from another race.

I got my last hard biking miles in last Friday and Saturday. Now the taper madness BEGINS! Bike will be shipped out in the next 2 days.

Same here I'm pumped, did my last major brick on sunday in the heat and I believe it was the ideal thing I needed so I know.    86 sunny degrees and a hilly TN bike ride with run afterward  make for 1 confident me.  11 days and a wake up folks

Cheers

Ha!  That's a crazy dream!  Laughing

Same for me with the last big BRICK.  Got mine in on Sat.  Felt good.  Almost gotten attacked by a couple of dogs on back roads.  Now the taper has begun!

Going a bit nuts here.  Missed my swim workouts last week as work was nuts (going thru an aquisition).  Managed a short swim yesterday.  Did get a long ride in on Friday.  I have a Sprint on Sunday as a warm up then its count down to the big race.

This is my first half and I'm more than a little nervous.  Does anyone know what the ride is like?  Hilly v. flat.  Additionally, I see where they have water bottle exchanges.  How does that work?

Can anyone send me the link (or email the pdf file - PM me for my e-mail address) for the 2010 IM New Orleans 70.3 Athlete Information Guide?  I've lucked into a late entry and I did not get the link or the guide yet -- and I really want to look at it, tonight if I can.    Thanks.

For those concerned or asking about hills on course this is a PANCAKE flat race, run and bike. Dont need an elevation file! Good luck!

Bottle exchanges on the bike, they were all sport top type bottles so you could just grab it and keep riding or I was handed mine loaded it to my Aero drink container and tossed the empty bottle in a small pile that had gathered,I do believe I remember there were some large empty container boxes that we were suppose to toss them into but your aim can get a little crappy.  If you miss just try to get close so the volunteers wont have to go too far to police up our mess.  Plus littering is a penalty so be kind.  I know I'm not gonna win this race so I try to do my best not to litter while having fun,  NOLA has enough problems they dont need me adding a few extra empty containers to the scenery.

I did not get an email either,  but rest easy if you go to the website it has most if not all the info you would need,  also the mandatory briefing prior to packet pickup is VERY informative and they really would like to answer any questions or concerns the athletes have.

Cheers
