Finally got back to the gym.  Just did some lite weights.  I will get back to my training tomorrow with a swim/run brick.  Probably will keep it slow and steady until I get back 100%.  Have fun at the soccer tourny.

I have never used any muscle rebuilding drinks.

Did 6.09 in fairly chilly weather. Felt pretty sluggish too. But I did have a bunch of wine last night and went to a kiddie concert, Brady Rhymer, this morning.

January training totals:
7 hours on the bike
76.29 miles running
14,150 meters swimming
4 hours stretching
7 pounds lost
Resting heart rate down to 45

Did 4.5 mile run tonight and felt much faster than it actually was, but I felt comfortable, except for the cold of course. Cardiologist confirmed that there is no need for me to get any special testing to make sure I can do this event, so that makes me comfortable, especially since he is the former medical director of the NYC marathon.

Hey guys, good to see you all still getting out there in sickness and bad weather

I am back from the soccer weekend. We move on to the next round, so we are back on the road next weekend.
I am going to run this week, so keep me honest

As for muscle recovery, I think the best thing is to get in 4:1 carbs to Protein and you will be fine. If you look, you will see that combo in a lot of things... peanut butter and jelly sandwich, chocolate milk, etc. I used to use Endurox R4, but have recently switched to Jay Robb's protein because the strawberry flavor tastes like Strawberry Quick.

For the beginning of my training I shied away from the recovery drinks because I didn't want the extra calories, but used it near the end of my training during the heavy load weeks.

Did a 3.40 hill run tonight in the snow. Did great but little slippery. I love running in the snow, though.

Great work guys. I slacked off. I was going to run at lunch, then my coworkers were going to take me out for lunch for my birthday, but that fell through. I went out for lunch anyway. They are taking me out tomorrow, so no run tomorrow unless I run after work.

Pretty good week just nutrition as always, need to get some weight off before the 1/2 marathon I know that's why I am getting shin splints. Weights and elliptical this morning for 2 miles. 3.1 mile recruit run this afternoon and then off to see Jason Aldean with the girls. Another big snow tomorrow evening I am pretty spent but will try and get something in tomorrow morning because that may be my only chance til Monday.

My nutrition is coming along. i didn't gain a ton of weight over the weekend. And with traveling to soccer all weekend, that's pretty good. I am actually lighter this week than last.

Got in a 4 mile run with my coworker today. She used to be pretty slow, now she is kicking my butt. During the run she asked how I was doing. I said "fine as long as I don't have to talk or breathe during it"

have a great night guys

100 pull is 100 meters or yards using one of the pull buoys you put between your legs. 100 kick is 100 meters or yards using the kickboard so all you are doing is kicking with no arm use.

Hey guys, sorry I have been a bit absent, lately. I usually do all of my posting at work, but I have actually been working at work... go figure. My nights have been crazy, so I am not getting on BT until weird hours.

So bare with me, I won't work at work too much longer

I m still alive.  Have rough week last week.  Didnt get much done.  I am currently in Mammoth for the next few days and then in Reno for the rest of the week.  I did do a 3 mile run this monring.  I will keep up with at least my cardio and weights workouts until i get back home.  So far I have had a few beers.  Pacing myself.  Hope all is well with everyone else.

I knew I was going to eat like a pig on Sunday, so I rode 2 hours throughout the day

How are you guys feeling? Are you ready for a challenge? I was thinking of a run challenge. Are you up for it?

I need a run challenge. The weather is not going to cooperate, have about 16 inches of snow on the ground and calling for another 4 to 6 tomorrow but maybe it will make me get on the treadmill. Had a run planned today and forgot my shoes, may go to gym tonight and do something??

Alright guys. Why don't we state what our goal is for the week. It could eith be in miles, minutes or just number of times running. It will go from today (Tuesday) until Sunday. If you are using a training plan, don't go over your plan's distance...unless you feel you can safely go over that distance. If you are not using a plan, then figure out how much you can do, then push it a little. You want to challenge yourself without hurting yourself.

I'll go first:

I am going to run 20 miles this week. I was originally going to go with a number of days, but that is't realistic as it seems like my priorities change every day. 20 miles will be a stretch, but I think I can do it.
