Planned on doing yoga tonight, but I got a migraine at the end of my day at work so no workout tonight...If I feel better later I might try to stretch a little.

wgraves7582 - 2010-01-05 5:52 AM Howdy Ghoulies.  Back in Buffalo and have a ton of errands to run today plus a sports doctor appointment this afternoon to see what is going on with the leg.

Will post more info tomorrow along with a picture of my buried car that I came home to - thanks to my neighbor for snowblowing the driveway.

Snuck a bike ride in last night after putting everything away - it was about 14 degrees out - fun times!!!

Welcome back Bill! I hope you had a fun and relaxing time on your travels.

skrtrnr - 2010-01-05 8:23 AM hanging out at Panera.

initiated another conversation w a person sitting next to me. [sorry, cant help it] turns out he's a geologist from all places, SAN DIEGO.

do you know any geologists from San Diego Tom?

apparently there is methane gas that stores in the fissures of shale.  who the flip knew THAT.

well, apparently this geogolist does!  such an interesting conversation...so not my area of expertise.  you can learn something new everyday.

certainly in keeping w my new years resloution to take the to hear peoples stories, and to apply something from their lives to my own....not sure what the application is from all that he/we talked about....but im sure it will come to me.

then i SCORED an appt w my Holistic Lifestyle Coach.....doesnt that just sound like somethin'....

im really anxious to see where this connection will lead....im hopeful to some good places/opportunities.

life.  today.  is good.

stacieb

Nope, don't know any geologists around here! My SIL was a geology major, but she went to school in Minnesota.

I have a headache right now so I'll read through all the posts from yesterday a little bit later.

Congrats Stacie.  Can I get a reply of what you will be doing since I missed that and am feeling lazy and don't want to read through the old thread and this one

no worries, BILL i'll bring up to speed.

but first off, total suckage about the arthritis, but sounds like your gonna find a way through....which shows your hutzpah.

as for me...

due to the seperation, i thought it 'wise' to get  a part time job.  im staying in the house w the kids, and my husband is gonna continue to cover the bulk of the expenses, but still....it will be nice to have an income of my own/money thats mine to manage.

in the course of looking for a job, a couple opportunities have presented themselves.

1) the life/wellness coach gig....i'm meeting w a woman who is a wholistic lifestyle coach, first cuz i think she'll be good at helping me navigate the tricky terrain of the next months, but 2) to talk to her about possibly mentoring me in to do what she does (after reading about what she does, it really sounds like its a perfect fit for me)

2)  before Christmas i had talked to the Exec Dir at the Y he's a good friend so i told him about what was going on, on the homefront and to ask if there were any positions opening.  he told me then that there would be two part time positions that would be opening, he couldnt promise me, but he said he would put in a good word for me.

well he must have.....it was the job at the Y that i got the offer for yesturday.  ill be working at the Membership Service Desk, answering questions, processing memberships, doing tours of the facility et al.

3)  my husband came home from my sons Psych Eval and said that Gs therapist said that they're hiring at the Counseling Center where he went for his appt. and that i should give her a call.  [ironic it was my husband that scored this for me, huh?]

4) then theres the gig w my friend Joseph and setting up venues/dates for his tour come end of Feb/beginning of March.

sooo.

lots of stuff happening, all at once, which is a little crazy, but good.

thanks for asking.

Prognosis - keep doing what I am doing until it hurts too much - so that means no running - so that means no Tri's - so that means no IM or HIM or any more Xterras

X2.  Dangerous ground here, following Dr. R but did he discuss any medical treatment for the arthritis?  I'm assuming it's osteo not rheumatoid.  Celebrex, while having very real risks, would be worth discussing....if you really want to keep running as part of your life.  Biking seems to be your passion, so maybe dropping running is ok.  Hate to see you give up running without exploring all options.  All that said, I would far rather retire the running shoes than the bike!

On my bike ride I was discussing options with myself (scary I know!) and I realized that I think I might not have presented my desire to continue running enough to him to explore real options or he took the easy way out and just told me to not run.

It is osteo (good call) and he had some x-rays taken and will let me know if something does not seem right and will do an MRI or bone scan but I think he is right.

Knox NutraJoint has always been very good with my knee (ACL surgery and no meniscus and I have never had a big problem while on it) and I am praying that it works in this area as well.  I am going to take the month off of running and start up my 30 day program of Knox and double dose with a tablet form of it as well and will start up easy running again Feb 1st and see what happens.  So I have a month of Aquajogging and rowing and as much biking as I can get in to see what happens again.

I have not given up and actually told myself I will prove him wrong - I think he is afraid I will be beat his Buffalo Marathon masters time and so he told me to stop running to protect his record (that is a joke )

All in all I am in a good place - I would miss trail running and snowshoe running and there are some running races I would love to do but if it is not so then it is not so - I have had a pretty good go of it and will focus on being a bike demon!

Good job on working it all through and coming up with possibilities! However, I do hope you were discussing the options quietly to yourself while riding!
