Whew!  Read everything I missed.

Great job to everyone that did workouts yesterday!

I ran and swam yesterday.  Today will consist of yoga and teaching a Spinning class.  Neither of those are part of the challenge, though.

Have a great day!

disturbed275 - 2010-03-03 5:25 AM Good morning West Side!

What's everyone got going on today?

Too much work, parent teacher conference, workout, weigh in, dinner, sleep.

Scheduled or emergency Smile
Scheduled quarterly P/T conferences but the timing is perfect. My son is getting toward the end of his senior year and is having some other struggles so his grades have dropped a little. Need to see if there is something he can do to bring them back up. Don't want him to lose those scholarships he was offered.
Crazy thing on scholarships. The school with the highest rank is the cheapest, even without a scholarship. The school that offered the biggest scholarship (36k over 4 years) is still the most expensive. In six months this will all be over and he'll be off to school. It will be nice to have the school applications, etc over but we'll miss him.
They have parent-teacher conferences for high schoolers now???  Not that it is a bad idea, I just never thought of them taking place after grade school.

I don't know if this is a new thing or that most people just don't know about it. We are very involved with my son's school and have learned a lot about things (both good and bad) that go on that most people don't know about. When my son was in middle school, we went to P/T conferences and learned a lot from the teachers about things my son could be doing to get him ready for opportunities in high school that would help him in college. I very strongly believe that the most important thing a parent can do to help with their child's education is to be involved with the school.

mchally - 2010-03-02 8:26 PM So I went swimming today...is it weird that I really love pulling?

I was going to do a 500 yard pull and as I neared the end I decided to make it a 750.  As I neared 750 yards I decided to make it an even Mile.  As I approached a mile I decided that 2000 yards would make a nice round number.  I was considering making it 2500 yards, but the pool was going to close soon and I wanted to have time to shower.

Anyway, I put in a 4900 yard swim.  I think that is the longest swim workout I've ever done.

You didn't have another 2 minutes to make at an even 5000?  Sheesh  Tongue out

I woke up a little late, so I'm going to have to run at lunch instead of before work...I needed more Z's....

Either way, I only have a 4 mile tempo-ish run planned so it shouldn't be a problem.

I have masters class after work...and I'll probably stay after to get some more swimming in.  I don't know about 4900 though.  Laughing

I would have if I had known...
The largest chunk of my swim was a continuous swim that turned out to be 42 minutes...I have a very consistent 100 yard pace (1:45-1:48).  I just noted that I swam 42 minutes and calculated the distance when I got home.

I was training for my first marathon, and one of our new employees mentioned she did a marathon before.  So already I'm impressed.  Then she tells me that she's retired from marathons and graduated to triathlons.  So besides having my marathon goals shot down a bit...LOL...I'm thinking...if she can do it...so can I.  The next week I jump in the pool for the first time in 15 years and almost drown.  I've been hooked ever since.

Don't remember the guy's name. It was a friend of a friend and it was 29 years ago. I was dreaming of doing a marathon and he told me of this triathlon thing he was training for. Sounded like a challenge I would like to try. It was especially a challenge since I couldn't really swim at the time. At 45 I decided if I was going to do it, it would be easier to do it now then when I'm 90, although I would still like to be able to do one when I'm 90.

I have always run and I come from a family of rabid cyclists (who were always disappointed in my running ways) and strong (not fast but strong) swimming training...but never put the three together.

I was out on the lakefront doing a long run last summer and saw these people standing out on the Ohio Street beach and I thought, they look good. I want to look like that. I think I'll do a triathlon...

Not sure who, the "who" is except the random, fit, open water swimmers (who I assumed were triathletes) hanging out on the beach in downtown Chicago last summer...
