Marsha, AWESOME brick.  Sounds like you are one of the weirdos that love running right off the bike and are speedy!  I have another BT friend that runs FASTER as a brick than regular running, I guess the bike just gets her warmed up!

Hey y'all... I just realized that Tammy 2 (TTucker) had not opened her logs to the public, so if you tried to inspire her you couldn't.  She has added all of you to her friends list, so now you can go and inspire her...  if there is anyone else that you've tried to inspire and couldn't, that's probably the same problem, I would go ahead and PM them if you haven't been able to.  I can reach all of you so I guess I am ALL y'all's friend (that's Texas speak! Even though I'm originally from New York!).

So after waking up early and thinking about going running, I went back to sleep. Didn't even change out of my jammies! Just a recovery day, right?
On the up side, I got a free bike from my boyfriend's dad. I've been looking for a cheap one since I have a pretty heavy mountain bike. It's a Peugeot Bordeaux. He got it at a rummage sale a while ago for cheap. It definitely needs tires, but otherwise in really good shape! Can't wait to ride it.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi All,  As documented in my log, this training week was a bit of a struggle.  To make matters worse, my nutrition this weekend was not good - not horrific, but not good enough to reach my goals.  So late today, I was feeling pretty frustrated.  My training planned for Saturday did not happen and by the time I was able Sunday, it was raining.  As I sat there, I just decided I needed to go and jog to get myself back focused.  This was week 3 day 1 of my couch to 5k plan that called for alternating 200 yd jog/walk followed by 400 jog/walk to be done twice.  On the way there, I decided that I was going to do the 400 first as long as I had to do them anyway, I might just do all 400's.  Well frustration can work for you some times, as I completed the first 400, I decided to keep going.  Long story short, I jogged a full 2 miles.  I really needed some sort of breakthrough to get me back on track.  It even felt good to run in the rain!  Most of all, I want to thank all of you.  I swear I could hear each of your voices telling me I could do it and urging me keep going!  It was as if you were all with me today.  So thanks for all the support!  I could not possibly do this without you!

Have a great week!

Fantastic run, Carl! Way to go! And Jordie, I can't wait to see pics of your new ride once you've got her ready to roll!

Today's a day off for me, so only tango tonight-- it'll be good for my legs to get a bit of a rest. Smile Then back to work tomorrow-- happily, next weekend's looking good so far, so maybe I'll actually get a REAL long ride in...will let you all know if I do. I agree with everyone: having a group of BTers cheering each other on is a wonderful thing!

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Anyone have advice on tapering for a Sprint? My first real sprint is Saturday, and I'm loathe to take time off for it. Not that I think I can still improve at the last minute, I just need to work out for stress relief and general sanity! Would a light swim 2 days out be OK? Yoga the day before? I'm on the way out for a bike ride now, rest days be damned! It's sunny out and NOT WINDY, so I'm outta here!

As an aside, someone makes a helmet cover just for me: http://www.tail-wags.com/helmet.html/>- see 'turtle' !

Tapering.... I just tend to do a little less the week before... maybe not double days either.  I really try to save my legs the last few days to let them rest since the run is my weak spot.  I normally take the day before the race as a rest day since it's usually packet pick-up and getting my stuff packed up, maybe do some transition practice.  You want your body to rest and rebuild that last week before your race so that you are fresh come race day and you can give it your all.  Your training has already been done, nothing you can do this last week is going to improve it....

Love the helmet cover, that is too cute!

Just a driveby wave to Hilde's group - you all look great so keep it up!

I also got busted looking at the website and now one of my co-workers is trying to take up a collection to get me the Unicorn cover for when I race.  As if I needed any more reasons to look at me funny when I huff and puff my way through a race.

Shawn with a unicorn helmet cover, that is hysterical... it would only be better if it is RAINBOW colored, ha ha!!!  For those of you that don't know, Shawn was in the same mentor group as I was over the winter and he's just a great guy... LOVE YOU SHAWN!!

lol - with that cover and my girth, I think everyone watching me ride would think I was some sort of ugly "My Littly Pony" come to life.  It almost makes me want to do it for the NYC Tri in July...  HA!

Yeah, Hilde's been my coach, mentor and therapist ever since the last group.  Take advantage of her as a mentor while you can!

Tammy - As far as the taper goes...  You need to get in the mindset that you've already done the work.  Anything you do in the week leading up to the event will not add to your fitness.  The danger is if you over-do it you won't have time to recover.  You need to do light workouts and stay healthy.

Hey everyone! Today was a swim-spin brick that went well but I swear my spin instructor is possessed sometimes...class was EVIL! LOL! I had a breakthrough on the scale this morning and fit back into some pants I've been saving for this moment - that in itself was a great start to the day!

Tomorrow is a rest day for my legs - I'll be doing core/abs and a BIG swim workout, and then after work a little
