I don't know why, but I never actually WANT to swim. I always have to psyche myself up to get in the pool. But then when I'm swimming I enjoy it. I am exactly the same way. For me, I think there are 2 reasons. First, it's so much more of a pain to get to the pool than it is to run or bike. Just getting to the pool and back adds an extra hour for me and I hate having "wasted time" during the day. But for biking and running, I can just change my clothes and go. Second, I hate jumping into a cold pool. I hate being cold! Of course, once I get going, I want the pool colder. But I just dread that initial shock. If I had to add an hour driving time to my pool workout I wouldn't ever make it. No kidding! I have a 15 min walk from the pool to my house... 20 if I walk slowly, or a 5 min bus ride if it comes right away. I can't even remember the last time I swam in the pool before last Thurs Wow, now I feel like I should swim more! I'll stick to the I-don't-like-being-cold story! |

I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with a swim at lunch today. I really shouldn't sneak away that long and I don't want to come back all obvious-like with goggle marks! That was me yesterday afternoon...goggle marks on my cheeks for an hour or so. It's much easier to just change and take off running. My face is red when I'm done, but after a baby wipe/sink bath, I'm usually presentable again. I use a nice exfoliation scrub followed by an Oil of Ole moisturizer. Then I cover it up with a little foundation cream and concealer. Works every time! |

I hope that everything works out ok.This is totally copied from my log. I don't care. Damn. It won't copy. I had a crappy day. Baby got hit by projectile vomit by another kid. Doctor said we will know in 5 to 7 days if he catches the bug. A friend of mine, who is like a dad, had a mild heartattack last night. He is stable right now but will be having surgery on Wednesday morning. I missed my Tuesday run. |

Champion 7931 Sequim, Washington | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread So yesterday was my 29th Birthday (the first, but I expect to have a few more in the coming years. ) It was awesome...especially in the food department. I went out for brunch with my best friend to my favorite crepe restaurant. I was debating between a savory crepe and a sweet crepe...he told me to order both and I ate every bite...absolutely delicious. I swung by a natural food store and treated myself to some maple glazed cake donuts...they are gluten free, dairy free...taste pretty good but are expensive. DISCLAIMER TO NON MEAT EATERS...EXPLICIT STEAK DESCRIPTION, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! Yesterday evening my Boy Friend took me out to Daniels Broiler. You can't find a better steak house plus the view was awesome. We shared an appetizer of Dungeness crab legs and had some great house salads. We were debating the same steak options so we each ordered one and split them. It is great to find someone who likes their meat cooked the same way (medium rare). Daniel's starts by sending all the steaks through an 1800 degree broiler to lock in all the juices and flavors. It is then cooked over a mesquite grill. (I didn't say that quite right, but you get the idea) The rib-eye was very flavorful...it didn't have excessive marbling, just enough to saturate it with flavor. It presented itself very well too. The other steak was a bone-in 20-some oz New York prime. It was absolutely amazing. Incredibly flavorful, the outside was slightly charred and the center had a smooth satiny feel and practically melted in your mouth. I think that having the bone in added to the flavor as well. We saved the last bit for my mom and sister and dropped it off when we were done...they were ecstatic and loved it. The dog didn't mind that I let it nibble on the bone a bit...it was thin enough that I didn't let her go to town on it though. Although I couldn't have any, the french bread smelled absolutely divine. It had the most appetizing crackle when handled. Jonathan guiltily told me that the flavor delicious beyond description and it just melted in your mouth. Desert consisted of a chocolate cake(somewhat brownie-like) with a molten center served a la mode. I had a lovely tropical sorbet. that's about it...did I make anyone hungry? |

His daughter is in town for at least a couple weeks to help him. My week continued to be crappy though. Yesterday afternoon, baby swallowed a plastic sticker and was coughing pretty bad before he managed to completely swallow it. I gave him lots of water and called the doctor. They said to take him to the ER if he does anything unusual. Nothing so far so I guess he'll just poop it out now. Then, last night, a moron was subbing for the usual childcare person at the gym. She was completely incapable of caring for her own two kids, twin girls, and another girl. The twins kept going over to my baby and knocking him down. (He just started walking.) She wasn't doing anything! Ugh! The gal working the front desk took care of him while I was teaching class. I ended up having a couple of margaritas last night!!! |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Tracy - your week just needs to get better QUICK! Hang in there. Mel - Happy Birthday! Steak sounds devine.. Might need to find some place like that around here - hubby and I's 10 year is coming up. Ok day for me - struggled through a 3 mile run this morning. Found out when I got back I went out way to fast. Walked 5 or so minutes and I still averaged 11:01/mile. IF it doesn't get easier (or I don't learn how to pace) might have to try Mel's run/walk and see if I have the same success. Stacie |
