KEJ - 2010-07-02 6:41 AM Gonna be an AWESOME, iconic event, IMO. Bike is most likely a 1 loop bike Very nice course. It most certainly is NOT flat Rollers, no big sustained climbs.

awesome!   and yeah you did do a pretty good job of keeping the secret. ;-

any word on when we're going to see a list of approved speed suits for after september first?

It seems the key words in the WTC speedsuit ban are "non-rubberized" and "textile" .... so basically if a suit is neoprene or latex in anyway it is not permitted.  But if it is made of a textile - lycra, spandex, polyester, etc then it is good.

DeSoto seems to be ahead of the curve and are pushing a one piece trisuit by claiming the chamois pad will help with buoyancy?  Hopefully by the fall season the rest of the Tri clothing manufactures will get up to speed and come up with a strong product line to offset the new WTC rule.  I've been emailing with one of the PR guys for Pearl Izumi and he assures me that they have some new textile products coming out very soon.  So, the best advice is to probably hold on for a couple of months until they all get caught up!  Hope that helps!

yeah and desoto seemed to be ahead of the curve with the water rover to.  how'd that work out?  ;-)  not slamming slamming desoto here btw, i love emilio's gear.

a few companies have suits out now that say they are good..kiwami, desoto.  but in light of all the changes i want wtc to tell me they are good.  its clearly an issue.  i walked into a shop recently while out of town and asked the the girl which suit will be good after the first.  she pulled out a pointzero3.  i said thanks and walked out.

this being said, i still don't even know if i *need* one.    ha.

edit.. i have emailed wtc about this as well.

TYR has told me that they are in the process of making a legal suit. I will give Blueseventy a call as well and report back on the what/when.

Can someone tell me if this is the official thread for IM Texas why is there only Texas participants on the thread?  Is this a regional forum, because I know for IM WI the official thread involved people from all over.  I'd like to also hear from others coming from out-of-state.  Thanks for any feedback.

This thread is housed in the Texas forum so that is why mostly Texas peeps are here.  Maybe we should get it moved to the IM thread.

Mods....??

There is already an "official" thread in the IM forum.  Haley created it.  I think there are 3 'official' threads for IMTX in various forums.  If we combined them into one thread it would proabably catch up with the # of pages in the other IM 'official' threads.

I like having an "official" regional ironman thread just for Texas. I dont know why, I just do. Maybe we should change the title of this thread to Ironman Texas: Non-Offical Official Thread

Another good 60 minutes on the trainer.  Swim and strength starts tomorrow.

Hope that when I go back to the ortho in 3 weeks I will be OK to start elliptical and then slowly get back to running.

20 mile bike and 5 mile run out at the Speedway for me on Sunday. The cloud cover was so nice! I started the P90x workout program last week and am enjoying the strength cross training. I needed something different to keep me motivated to do my evening workouts.

This past Saturday was a brick workout for me.  Loved the cloud cover, but the head winds were brutal in every direction.  47 mile bike and 4.5 mile run right after.  Sunday was a 26 mile ride with a 3.4 mile run right after.  35 min of swim training in the evening.

I was planning on doing the MS150 for the first time in 2011, but now I'm not sure if I will since it is four weeks before IMTX. If I do ride I'd want to treat it as a long ride w/ as little drafting as possible. I'm not sure how feasible that is because I've never done it and don't know how crowded the roads are. The start looks packed, but I'm hoping it thins out. Would I even have much opportunity to ride aero?

I believe the number is up to 14,000 people now. On a 2 lane road. Most are brand new to riding a bike. I think you'll have a while before you can get aero for any extended period of time.

Oh wow, 14,000 people.  I knew it was big, but that is HUGE. That averages to one person every 37ft on a 100mi route. May have to rethink this.

The MS150 is a great ride for a wonderful cause. My mother-in-law has MS. I support the ride but not as a cyclist..

I stopped riding in the MS 150 in 2003 due to the large number of participants at the event. I've heard (rumors?) that 70% of the riders of first timers. The pace lines were huge and scary in 2003. I can't imagine what they would be like now.

The MS150 would not be my personal choice for a training ride.

I'll say that yes, the MS150 is very crowded and most of the riders are first timers who bought their bike a few weeks before the event. I know everyone has to have a first time (been there already) but honestly people don't follow basic riding rules. I've thought about doing the other MS ride from San Antonio since it's less crowed. The ride tends to be in the fall instead of the spring.

So here is my 2 minutes of fame (woo hoo!), and how I got that visor. For those curious, I'm swimming right at the swim finish in the waterway.
