peteweb55403 - 2011-01-15 6:01 PM i have been running a lot.  i am thinking about entering a half marathon in march just to see where my running is taking me.   I do need to start hitting the bike trainer harder to get my speed up before my oly on june 6th....

I wish the tri race season was not so far away.

Agree I cant wait to start the season. Entered the Eugene Marathon May 1st

Look around for an indoor tri.  They are pretty different, but they do keep you motivated throughout the winter.

With all of the running I have done in my life I can't believe that I am excited about finishing 3 miles this morning.  Ran 3 miles in 28 minutes this morning with no pain to either of my Achilles.  Calfs were a little tight afterward but overall felt great.

how long should I be taking breaks between my swimming drills?  I am slowly learning to swim laps and increase my endurance, but my swim plan doesn't list breaks between sets.  I do a lot of ladder work to increase my endurance.  Any suggestions?

personally drills are slow enough that i dont do them with rest at all.  they are meant for form not for hard cardio work

I would say that depends on the swimmer. You should be able to do the drill correctly without struggling for air. A nice steady pace concentrating on whatever drill you are performing. Does this make sense? Rest as long as you need to feel comfortable. It might be 30 seconds for one or 2 minutes for another.

nealham12 - 2011-01-16 11:32 PM Mikoy, sorry to hear about your day.  Regardless of the outcome, remember you did everything you could.  Mark was fortunate to have you behind him to do everything you could to save him.

x2!  Such a sad story, Mike.  Makes you appreciate every day even more

Yeah, you need to be completely focused on form during your drilling.  If you're tired, your form will suffer and the drill loses its effectiveness.  So rest as long as you need in between sets so you're fresh and ready for the next set.

So I ordered my RoadID yesterday. My wife has been very nervous the last couple of times I've been out on my bike.  I seem to be doing better on the bike I am averaging about 17-18 mph now which is up from 16 mph. I could not break the 16mph for a long time. I am looking forward to St. George!

I got some bad news today people. Just left the podiatrist office and I have a stress fracture in my right foot. I'm in a soft cast and boot till next Friday then he will decide what to do from there. My foot has been bothering me for awhile but no real severe pain. Then my ankle started to act up so I made an appointment. He gave me a shot of cortisone for my posterior tibial tendon near the ankle. No activity for 10 days. Is that why they call it a stress fracture? I'm very disappointed Frown

Sorry not been posting, I have been keeping up with the thread and easing back into training. Finally getting some motivation. Just thought I would let you know I've been lurking, and will try and post more. This is my 3rd time with Neil he will always respond to your questions and motivate so wear him out.

Bummer   Get some rest and hopefully you heal quickly.  You should be able to at least get on the bike and in the pool after the initial 10 days

So quick question. I am starting to feel sick.  I have been really tired lately and now I have a sore throat. I do not want this to get worse. This is very typical for me right before I get really sick. Do I continue to train hard or should I back off, rest so that I can get over this more quickly, or just train through it? I mean today had a good run this morning but I am not feeling up to a swim tonite. Any suggestions

thanks
