Fer Cuevas - 2011-02-01 9:06 AM Esta es mi sesión para hoy en la alberca:

Speed
WU: 400                             (supongo esto es calentamiento, Warming Up)
MS:                                       (esto Main Swimm)
12 * 50 on 1:30 ez/FAST   (12 repeticiones de 50 que tengo que hacer en 1.5 minutos)
300 pull                               (300 de ejercicio de PULL)
12 * 25 1:00  (12 repeticiones de 25 que tengo que hacer en 1 minuto)
CD: 200 loosen  (Enfriamiento?)

Gracias Ernesto

Thanks Ernesto.

I'm an analytical type, so I like knowing what' going to happen and trying to be prepared.  I can be flexible, but I like a basic plan, so your answers really helped.

I'm still looking for a breakthrough at the pool.  Not sure I'll get it this week with freezing rain and snow in central Texas!  Guess I'll concentrate on my bike trainer and the treadmill.

I think my dizziness is under control.  Seemed to be something with my inner ear and maybe a little chest cold.  Ran and rode on Sunday anyway and swam yesterday, although I didn't swim well.

I figure the only way to fail is to quit, so I'm not planning to do either Smile

Stay warm and dry!

Quick question, is there a diference between a road bike and a tri bike, other than the name?

Huge differences! The geometries are totally different, but the tri bike is supposed to save your legs because of seatpost angle and a lot more weight on the aero bars.

Jaclyn is right, but there's more to it:
- When you're in aero position your body oposes a lot less resistance to the wind.
- The load of the muscles is shared more, on a road bike it's about 70% quads/30% glutes (between the 1 and 5 o'clock marks) and on the tri bike it's about 50/50. The pull is more with the hamstring, setting you up for a good run. If you ever try to run after training on a road bike, it hurts even more.

Your breakthrough will come soon, maybe way sooner than you think. I'm also sucking on some really bad weather here in North Texas, they shut down my swim class tonight. I feel depressed...Frown

Thank you all for the heads up... I almost bougth a road bike that looks like a tri bike, do you recomend a make or model, I. Was looking at the one advertise here at BT, the post goes something like "tri bike clerence starting at 545 usd" would you say that that is a good new bike? Or will it be better to look for a great used bike?

The bike you saw there is more of a low end road bike with some aero bars on it. I would recommend figuring out what size you need and searching on eBay, there are some incredible bargains right now.

If you are proportionate (legs to torso ratio) then that is the right size for you. I'm the same height and I have a 51cm., but my legs are on the short side. My top tube and my stem are long to compensate. You should n=be fine but make sure you're paying a fair price, it's a buyer's market right now because we're in the off season. Ebay has great deals, make sure you bid only if the seller has good feedback and lots of it.

markz - 2011-02-01 8:37 AM Hi Ernesto and the group. I'm back after spending almost 3 weeks in freezing Poland and battling some bronchitis. Still not 100%, but must get back to regular training... Life gets in a way sometimes.

Missed you bud, hope you get better so you can get back on your routine. Still raining down under?

The rain stopped, now it's just bloody hot and humid. Really hard to run, but biking is OK. I'm just about to go for a run again, have to do it at 5am or it's impossible.

Ooh aah, pretty.  I'm inspired now!  Guess after I do a couple of sprints, I'll need to look for a tri bike.

I feel your pain.  My rental property well froze last night.  I was trying to thaw it out this am with a hair dryer, before going to school to give tests all day.  Had to go back this afternoon.

Have to wait until Friday and hope it thaws out by itself.

At least we are not in Chicago!

Hey Ernesto,

I set a PR (7:58/mi) on the treadmill tonight!  It was a high intensity 20 minute workout and I didn't get dizzy.  Yeah for me.

Well is still frozen and we are waiting for the snow tomorrow.  Do you have snow or just ice?

Breakthroughs are earned so GREAT for you! Keep working at it and you'll get even better.
I had to cancel all my workouts today, tomorrow it might be the same. Everything is iced out and the gym is closed due to the rolling blackouts. I didn't even get a chance at the drainer tonight.
This is BAAAAD for my training and my mind Yell

I know there is but I don't know them. My swim coach said we'll dedicate an entire session to strenght training so he'll show me how. Once I know I'll pass it on. Sorry I couldn't help.

I feel your pain guys. If it makes you feel any warmer, I'm sitting under the fan at home, it is 34c and humid. There's no way you'd want to run in this heat...

Last night I put in a swim and never felt stronger, I have too much rest time... Today I'm gonna run in the snow (the ice is covered with it). Five inches in my house in about 6 hours. I'm sick and tired of this crap. Tomorrow I got a spot with an indoor facility that has a big screen and a bunch of Computrainers, then I'll put a swim maybe.
I wish I lived in Florida today...

Ernesto, you should really come here and  join me for a run when it's 30c+... your feeling strong would go away very quickly!
