Master 1381 Clifton, NJ | Subject: RE: marymosc13's group THE V.A.M.P.S., FULL great advice from maxpixie there... take it to heart, i can see where that's a great way to mimic the transition in a controlled environment... don't know why i didn't think to suggest that myself. the open water swim is a must do before race day if your race has an ows in it. the current, the chop, the murkiness will all be new to you if you've spent all your water time in a chlorinated pool (no aqua aerobics class in an adjacent lane can produce the same effect - tho i'm sure it may feel that way sometimes) as for the reverse tri - i suggest swimming last after a workout day a few times so that you know what it feels like to get in the pool tired... you don't want to be struggling there. and enjoy the last day of january - tomorrow is challenge month, so kick it into high gear. try to keep accurate times of loggable stuff - if you're using a stopwatch - so much the better. Member 32 | Subject: RE: marymosc13's group THE V.A.M.P.S., FULL Ha! It is already challenge month in Oz, and I started the day at 6am with a 40 minute swim. Let's go, girls.... I tell ya, you were my prime motivation to get up early thi morning. It is raining today, so it was sooo tempting to stay in bed, but I didn't want to let my team down. The local tri club (that I am yet to join) has an open water swim every month in the summer. I think it is a great idea to get used to it. They swim in the rowing lake that was used in the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Michele |

You'll be our leader, since you are the one way over down under and can report the workout being done by the time us Americans are waking up... SUPER JOB! You are very fortunate to have organized open water swims at your disposal as well, take advantage - it will pay off. |

After my last conference call of the day, I'm planning to hit the road... got a 4 mile run on the calendar to check off... snowstorm scheduled to hit NJ late tonight into the morning could make for a messy morning commute anywhere, so I'm not banking on getting to the gym friday like I'd planned. That's great! If you didn't hurt then I would be surprised! Everyone has their favorite workouts and that is one of mine, mostly because my soldiers hate it. Hey, if you all want to try a new kind of pushup try this: The Nose Breaker- Get into normal pushup postion but put your hands close together to where you can make a little box with your thumbs (slosed hand push up position), then put your butt in the air, slowly lower your nose into the box you made with your hands and push yourself back up. If done correctly you will soon feel why we call them nose breakers!!! SMILES! |

Michele Michele, please make sure you post those 40 glorious minutes into your actual log, so that the others in the group (and the other group in the challenge) can fear your awesomeness! from what i gather, the first day challenge total for us was impressive... i won't add it up yet, but i'll keep a weekly total - in fact, everyone could be helpful and give me a total minutes at the end of your workout each sunday for the week (keep in mind this first week is only 4 days long - don't count jan 29th, 30th and 31st) i'll try to make a spreadsheet, to keep good track! |
