Her ankle is still bothering her :-(. Pam – is planning on an upper body strength workout after work – Go Pam! Heather – today is the day she gets in the pool, she did a great job, especially considering it’s been a while since she has been in a pool.– Woo Hoo. This week will be full of coaches meetings and the referees are going to be hired – BB season is about to begin! Dee – she’s back!!!! Kendra – figured out how to get her phone to vibrate (funny how that is the first thing she mentioned – LOL). She’s still working on the internet access piece. Lucky Kendra, she’s starting to give those evals she wrote last week. 3 ½ days until Vegas ;-). Max – is in for the Ironman Arizona, November 2008 – Yaaaay Max!!!!! We’re so glad your computer cooperated!! Sal – is trying to ease his way back into work after a week of vacation. Sounds like he may have more time on Twisnibbins if a certain project changes direction. Good job making it through the first rough morning :-). Scott – is worried about having peaked too soon (again, the marathon – LOLOL). His times haven’t been where he wants them to be – Scott, listen to Sal – he is giving you some great advice! Don – had a fabulous weekend and kicked the BT habit for 4 days – although he couldn’t stay away completely ;-). Check out the great pic of his son running in the Turkey Trot – he came in 2nd place in his AG, has already set a goal for his next race and now has the coolest coach ever – his Dad! Kristen – is back in Atlanta, counting the days (and soon the hours) until she is back home for good :-). She honored the Nibbins with her 1000th post – yaaaayyyyyy. Posted some very good questions and is looking for advice on doing her first ½ Mary – I think she came to the right place for advice :-). Cat – is busy planning food for the Holidays. She sounds like a great hostess who is very focused on ensuring that her guests have a great time! Hector – his race report is in and he did even better than he first thought – his time was 2:08 – Go Hector! He has been bit by the Tri bug :-).

QUOTE FROM CAT: I LOVE meat... that sounds bad right? Im definatley going to do a stuffed chicken or turkey breast roll(s) (cold), aussies love seafood but I wont be doing any unless I get asked specifically(not my speciality but maybe some shellfish at some point)... then probably some cold ham (will just buy a small portion off the bone) to add to the light dinner if anyone is hungry... Im going for variety, was thinking maybe some pork although not sure what to do with it (maybe the hot dish?) or lamp/beef or something...Im a bit lost and keep changing my mind The christmas dinner I went to last year had everything, oysters, prawns, ham, chicken, turkey, lamb, fish.... you get te idea! I dont want to go HUGE but variety is what I like! Careful on how much variety you want to provide, with only 10 people you might end up eating on this for weeks. I'll work on a menu and try to get it to you by end of the coming weekend. I'm thinking roasted turkey breast, stuffed pork tenderloin (spinach and crumbled blue cheese), slow cooked beef roast (with Coke and a bunch of other stuff - leftovers make great sandwiches for work). Then there will be potatoes, two veggies (non-starchy), the Watergate salad, green leafy salad, and maybe one or two other things. Oh, there's these ham rolls with cream cheese and green onions, great appetizer. Okay, I'm really out of here, got choir practice in 1.5 hr and takes 30 minutes to get home. Later!!!
hehe I will be careful - thats why Im doing things like a couple of breasts and not the whole bird And the more I can do in advance the better! You can tell im new to this huh? Plus being summer Im guessing a few hot dishes will be enough? Potatoes maybe some hot roasted style (with herbs or a butter type flavour) and maybe a straight potato salad... Salad is a good idea with maybe your bean dish and I was thinking maybe a warm tomato salad too? hehe... I will figure it out.. and too much food is never an issue.. just pack it up and send people home with it! |

Pro 4541 A farming town in MN | Subject: RE: They Who Shall Not Be Named (Twisnibbins) V enders_shadow - 2007-11-26 5:36 PM Need some Nibs advice...(no, not wine or ice cream, and no, I'm not having a wardrobe dilemma) - I need to get my Spring races picked & registered and I'm terribly torn and stressed about it. (Yeah, I know - the girl needs a new life if picking races stresses her out)... Anyway, I want to do 2 races this spring and my choices are 3/15 Half-Mary; about 1.5 hours away 3/29 Sprint (300 pool/10m/5K); about 1.5 hours away 4/5 10K; hometown 4/13 Sprint (300 pool/25K/5K); about 2.5 hours away 4/20 Sprint (750 lake/20K/5K); about 1 hour away So here's what I'm thinking ... I've never done a half-mary, so that's appealing - especially since I have been upping my run distance. The March 29 sprint is the first race I did, and I'd kinda like to "return to the scene of the crime" and see how improved I am. The 10K is a huge deal in my town...like ginormous...like everyone in town runs it. The April 13 sprint is not really on my radar screen, so I should probably just dispense, but it has a longer bike which would be a nice test. The April 20 sprint would be awesome, because it is a longer, OWS - but it's April people, and last year the water was so cold they offered a du option instead. Starting in early June, there are other races that are reruns of what I did last year and in my hometown (in fact, right across the street from my house). WWND??? (And heya, Judi - are you thinking of any of these?) Kristen This is just Sal speaking...I'd go for the half mary and the OW tri. I've never done a pool tri. I think I would stress out more about that many people trying to swim between lane lines. I totally stressed about my 1st OW tri, but in the long run, it was such an accomplishment to me, because it was a fear I had to overcome. Just my 0.02. (Where's the April swim? Somewhere south of MN I hope ) |

Wanted to do the half mary in VA beach in March but have to chaperone a field trip that weekend. Still looking for a spring half mary--Dismal Swamp has been suggested but I haven't looked in to it yet. I saw the "I love the Tavern" got moved to June, a guy I know from work did it last year--got pretty beat up on the bridge when someone cut in front then stopped quickly. Looking at the Charlottesville OLY in July, and still want to do Patriot HIM in September but I'm questioning if I'll be able to pull off that much training. I really want to do the mary next Nov, if not it will be the half mary for sure. It would be a blast to train/race with someone I know so when you're permanently in Richmond drop me a PM and we can see what we could do... What I really need to do is get interviewed for the other job so I can determine how/when to train around the work schedule cause I am geting out of that ER by new years if it's the lasT thing I do. I enjoy that . Kristen, congrats on your 1,000th post which was clearly a post of substance. California roll rocks and all I can say is that I was born and raised in Maryland and haven't had hardshells in a year... I'm in withdrawl. For the amusement of others, as you know, Maryland and Virginia border one another... is it any surprise that, according to their mottos, Virginia is for Lovers and Maryland is for Crabs? I think not.
enders_shadow - 2007-11-26 3:22 PM Hello & Happy Monday, Nibs! THIS IS MY 1000TH POST! I am back safely in Atlanta & have approximately 14 days to go - not counting the hours yet - but I'm getting there... Since I promised you (last night) a post of substance for my 1000th, here goes. (I'm not promising the substance is good, but it's more than post-padding.) I would like to extol the virtue of California rolls. I'm a midwestern girl and haven't quite come over to the darkside where I can eat raw fish, I mean heck - you can't really get "fresh" fish there. When we moved east, I started eating cooked fresh shellfish (mmmm MD blue crabs) but I still haven't gotten to a place where I feel ok about eating raw fish. Thus, the beauty of California rolls in my life. Where else am I going to put my wasabi? OK, I think that's enough substance for today. Back to brainless posting. Kristen |
