Regular 61 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread It's so hot! I think I am going backwards in my heat acclimation, my runs have been fairly poor for the past few weeks. We don't have quite the "heat dome" that Lisa is experiencing, but the heat index has maintained 100+ just about every day for a couple weeks and I am getting pretty bummed, my body isn't reacting to it as well as I would have hoped. I am still praying for a nice, cooling rain on race day... or temps in the mid-upper 60s! |

I can only drink soda when its flat (since I'm a surgically altered freak) the carbonation really messes me up. Thanks In none of my Ironman's has it been flat. In 2007 I was at an aid station at Ironman Wisconsin and they were opening generic cola and pouring it into cups and refilled the same way. Pretty fresh stuff. Thanks for the quick response! Guess I will just skip the coke then. Wish I could have some, I used to love that stuff. There's no reason why you can't buy a ~500mL coke bottle, open it up to flatten it, and put that in your special needs. That's what I'm doing so I don't have the highs and lows taking in coke from aid station to aid station. I'm happy when I've got a constant stream of pure sugar and caffeine to my system! |

Temperatures are on the cooler side than average up here--upper 50's and low 60's. I wish I could be in Kentucky already. Stay safe out there. |

Expert 868 CALEDONIA/MIDDLEVILLE, MICHIGAN | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread REGARDING B.T. POSSIBLE GATHERING- I too will be arriving on Friday (hopefully by 3:00pm at the latest). I wasn't going to bring this up yet, but since it's out there... This is rough draft thinking, but I was thinking those who are interested in meeting could meet at 5:00-ish prior to the 5:30 "Welcome Dinner" and go to that together. OR...??? On a related note, please let me know who else is staying at the Jeffersonville, IN Comfort Suites Hotel (I think the Days Inn is right next door as well...Exit 2 I believe in Jeffersonville). I believe Jillian is and I thought somebody else as well. We could coordinate drives in and out of the city possibly. |

Member 34 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I'm pretty sure this topic was covered a while ago... but I'm too lazy to got digging through all the posts :-) I'm debating my clothing options for the 28th. I think I might want to go with a speedsuit or swimsuit bottoms for the swim and switch over to a full bike short for the bike. This would require a full strip down in the transition tent. Does the Kentucky transition tents provide full gender privacy for a full change? Obviously I won't be going this direction if there isn't! |

Expert 1128 Fort Riley, Kansas | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread A friend of mine gave me a word of advice not to stay in Jeffersonville because of problems getting over the bridge on race morning, so we changed our hotel reservation to the Baymont Inn in Louisville, a little farther from the race start, but it was also about $10 less a night. Looking forward to a "social" so I can meet some of you guys! |

Veteran 329 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I am staying at the Galt House Friday-Sunday. More than I wanted to spend, but convenience wins out. I would love to meet up with everyone. On a side note, I am going to be in Louisville on Saturday, August 21st. I have a 2 hour ride/30 minute run scheduled. My plan is to do 30 to 40 miles of the bike course late morning/early afternoon. Anyone care to join me? Nathan |

(Jillian, I don't blame you for making the change, I just already had a positive experience with Jeffersonville). Thanks Sam, I really didn't think staying in Jeffersonville would be a problem. Ideally, I really wanted to stay at the host hotel, but we are an enlisted military family, and would need to take out a loan to stay there. A big reason was I have a buddy and his wife staying at the Baymont, who did the race in 2009, and offered to carpool to all the race stuff, so that was a big factor as well. We will be arriving Thursday night, we have to go through Atlanta, not looking forward to that. |

Congrats on the good ride and for signing up for IMLP - I just can't bring myself to sign up for anything at this moment. I'm so tired from double training the IM and a 100 mile run that I want to enjoy these two races then sit back and say "aaaahhhhh" |
