Searching on the inter-web, I found out that the jellyfish were lion's mane jellies.

And, someone died during the swim on Sunday.  I had no idea.  It's terrible.

Potentially good rumor from Jackson, MS.  The local triathlon group, which until now has just been an email group and not much else is having a meeting on Thursday.  Word on the street is they are about the ramp this thing up into a full blown tri club with officers, training groups, etc.  The hush hush rumor, that I'm of course going to blab about on Nibbs, is that they are looking at making a strong push to host a HIM here .  I mean, we've already got two half marathons, an Oly Tri, and two century rides that do very well, so why not this next step?  Maybe it'll give me an avenue to organize the three mile swim I'm wanting to start!!

That's exciting!  Richmond has a great tri club.  Nice to have group workouts.

Three mile swim is daunting.  I don't think I could handle that.

If they can survive the CSC attacks that are sure to come in the next two stages, both of them are really good time trialers, so that will be big, especially since it's a longer one.  I think Cadel knows this, and it's why I think he'll end up in yellow in Paris.

We've got quite a few Ironman finishers in the area, and a couple of good youth swim teams and master programs, so I think it might fly.  I'd love to have one since there really isn't a good long distance swim even anywhere close.

There's a two mile in Charlottesville (about an hour away) and a four mile in Baltimore.  I'd like to work up to the two mile next year.

Also helps that the meeting is at the best pizza joint in town and they are paying.  It's also got the best beer selection, which I value greatly

There is a suburb of Jackson (Ridgeland), that has made a strong push in the past two years to extend it's multi-use trails.  Plus we have an enormous reservoir and the Natchez Trace, which is actually a nationally recognized bicycle route.  Team in Training has a strong presence here, and a program called Marathon Makeover has taken off.  They are at the cusp of doing some REALLY cool things here, so yeah, I'm willing to dive right in and help out where I can.
