I'll keep posting if y'all do.

BTW got a FB message from my LBS that they had a ton extra of those waffles ordered for some reason and are offloading them cheap.  May grab some for the back to back 90 mile ride next weekend.

if they come with syrup, i'd be down.

I hope this group stays active-I've gotten attached to following what every one is doing and have certainly learned and gained a lot from you. I know I push a little harder because I don't want to look like a slacker and that is a good thing for me

Not sure if they're worth the price.

Been meaning to ask.....where do you buy the Honey Milk, Kelly?  Are there fewer ingredients in it than are in some of the other recovery drinks?  Just curious....shopping around for a quick recovery drink.

Had my first swim-run brick today.

Swam a mile, then hit the treadmill for a slow 2 miler. Felt pretty good the whole time, I might do this more often.

I love Honey Milk.  I purchase it on-line at http://www.honeymilk.com/

If you think you'd like some let me know and I can give you a discount code (full disclosure I'm on "Team Honey Milk").  Strawberry banana and Honey are my favorite flavors.  Definately few ingrediants than most drinks just --

"Filtered lowfat milk, honey, lactase enzyme, sodium polyphosphate, carrageenan, vanilla, Vitamin A palmitate, & Vitamin D3"

Bricks are good.  They give you more "bang for your buck" with regard to the run portion (that is you get a bigger training boost from running a 2 mile T run than a 2 mile stand alone run).

Going to start utilizing bricks a lot more now that I think my knee can handle the volume.

Also being in the pool after being in the ocean I have a new appreciation for how easy pool swimming really is.  That said I love OWS soooooo much more.  Cindy, my wife, snapped this pic from the swim exit Sunday.  If you squint you can kind of see the boat.  BTW I've been told it drifted further out once the engine shut down.  Was closer to a HIM swim than an Oly swim.

Since it has the lactase enzyme in it does that mean that it is good for lactose intolerant people?

Nice piccies! I love it when you can get pics of yourself racing (not just to show everyone "look see i told you i was a triathlete!" but I think you can also learn a lot about your form by seeing a pic).

Oh, i dont know if its just me, but i cant get your link to your blog to work. Thought i'd better point it out in case the link is broken.

Good news is the UW board retreat I was going to be stuck in all day tomorrow is postponed (again), bad news is more rain, snow and wind. I am two weeks out from my Du and sure not getting much outdoor time for training. Ski resorts here are predicting to stay open until June

We supposedly went 1500m.  RD said the boat drifted out farther though so each wave went a little more than the last.

Scott- sub 3 in your first Oly is good in my opinion.  An Oly is like a really long sprint and getting used to redlining for that distance is pretty tough.  COme out to Marthas Vineyard in September and race with me, Rudy and Shaun in what will be a really nice Oly.

SOmeone asked about a "bonk" which is when your CHO stores run so low that your brain basically shuts off your muscles so there is enough CHO to run your heart and brain and lungs.  First you slow way down, then you get dizzy, then you pass out.  Try and stop and immediately get high glucose foods into you should this happen.  People speak of bonking as a badge of honor.  it is not. you can actually badly injure yourself or die if you really bonk.  People also mistake bonking for "hitting the wall" as in a marathon.  They are very different.  Much more likley than bonking is dehydration.  In warm weather a run as short as 1 hour can lead to dehydration.  Mora: carry water on any run longer than 1 hour, carry food on any run longer than 1:30.  The food can be anything with easily digestable sugars (GU, gummy bears, straight sugar, etc.)

Funny story about bonking.  My college football coach had a great line following a bad practice: "Gentlemen, I'm going to run your today, run your hard, because the human body is a marvelous thing: you will pass out before you die, so dont worry about overdoing it."  Sound like a football coach?

I've been fightenign stomach issues the last couple days which is really annoying as I hacw has 2 good weeks of training.  Feeling about 75% today, hopefully I am good by tomorrow ad I have long rides and runs planned for the weekend.

Happy Friday.

I think what I'm going to do is open a "new" mentor group in the mentor forum but only take 5 or 6 people.  That way we'll have some new voices but we can keep the core group together.  I can direct them down here and we all can keep posting down here or if we want our thread to be "on top" again, we can move back up top.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?  Does that work?  I really want to keep this group going as so many of us are finally starting to head into the "real" tri season.

I have a lactose problem and it gives me no stomach troubles.  Its lactose free and my understanding is it will not cause problems for people who are lactose intolerant.

Not strange.  Gatorade has a lot of sodium and if you're not a salty sweater its kind of like eating salty pretzels at bar -- they make you thirsty.

My concern would be that by just drinking water you're not getting enough calories during longer efforts (even though the salt in Gatorade may be too much for you).  I would try watering down the gatorade (this is actually how I prefer gatorade) or trying a sports drink that doesn't have a high sodium content like Vitalyte (http://www.vitalyte.com/).  another idea tat might work for you is water and some type of simple sugar like jelly beans.  No tons of jelly beans, just about 100 calories worth per hour.

Nice race report (and I'm now a blog "follower").  Executing a good run is the hardest part of a tri.  I personally like the saying -- there's no such thing as a good bike followed by a bad run.  The goal to aim for is no more than an 8% difference between your open running time and your triathlon running time -- if you get close to that mark you know you've trained and executed properly.
